Five stars for sure!

My emails have been left unanswered, texts have been left unresponded to, and the mailbox for every number for the office I have tried is full and hasn't been cleared for months. To start, I had a great experience until January of 2022, but afterwards, my experience with Got Your Back has been an absolute nightmare. While I paid up front for a 12-session treatment plan, I only received 8 treatment sessions before the office closed with the promise that Dr Klein would be in touch. Months have passed and I received no call from him. To add insult to injury, the office has sent repeated invoices for the treatment I already paid for despite me speaking with the billing office two months ago and them telling me to not worry and that it was simply a clerical error that they would be sorting out. Fast forward to this week, when they sent me a letter saying that I was delinquent on payments and they would transfer my (already paid) balance to a debt collection agency. They have been consistently unresponsive and unprofessional through this whole ordeal. I have received no offer of refund or completion of treatment plan, and instead been hounded for payment which was already processed months ago. Overall, it is a shame that GYBTH has come to this because the care was truly great beforehand. I only hope that this finally gets the attention of the office and catalyzes action. If not, I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere.

Michelle approaches things with listening and communication, and the thorough initial consult included a first session. Wow! I had myofascial release therapy (there is a lot of information about this on her website, and she also explains it very well in person). I could feel the 'release' and found the sessions greatly helpful both in the moment and over time. Michelle's approach is quite unique in the DC landscape for recuperation or self-care. Great, progressive practice as others attested! TIP--the online booking shows appointments each week, with flexibility according to your schedule and needs.

Michelle is a brilliant detective and excels at finding the root of problems rather than just treating symptoms. I do a lot of powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and running, and she's helped me with both acute injuries as well as overall recovery and maintenance. Michelle has guided me through back injuries, a torn ACL (avoided surgery thanks to her!), tendinitis, bursitis, a concussion, and everything in between. Not only is Michelle a top notch physical therapist, but she's also incredibly thoughtful in how she approaches her practice. She has a very holistic approach to what she does and her knowledge of food allergies, supplements, and the effect of stress on the body have also been quite helpful for me. Who knew a physical therapist could help fix what your GI doctor gave up on? I happen to also be a public health grad student and personal trainer, and she is always magnificently patient when I pepper her with questions and bounce research ideas off her in my sessions. Everyone needs a Michelle in their health arsenal.

Didn't think anything about it until I felt a tug in my right calf within the first two minutes of spin class. I let it heal for several weeks but it never quite felt right. For months, I had a nagging tightness. Not pain, but lingering soreness. Stay with me here. I re-tore my ACL on my left knee a few years ago and opted not to have surgery again. For the most part, It's fine because I "retired" from the sport that caused the injury, but it's occasionally wobbly and my knee randomly pops out of place. So I decided to do what I should have done years ago and go to physical therapy to work on strengthening the muscles around the knee. Hope you're still with me, just trying to set the stage for why Rose Physical Therapy is amazing. I'd met the husband of the owner at a Yelp event and he mentioned that his wife has a physical therapy business. Looked up the business later and saw that it had solid positive reviews. Also saw their business cards at Pacers Running and the employee also had good feedback. I made an appointment at Rose and was assigned to Laura based on my symptoms and her specialties. The DuPont office is bright, clean and modern. It sounds weird to comment about the aesthetics, but it really contributes to the experience and my comfort level. Laura is amazing--she takes the time to listen to where I'm having issues, especially during our initial session. Highly recommend! While I thought only my knee needed work, I mentioned where I continued to have calf tightness and she took a look. She explained where the muscles around an injury can lock up and if not loosened up, stay tight even when the original strain heals. During sessions, she works on those tightened muscles with some kind of sculpting tool, does dry needling to release some of the knotted, triggered areas, and then we do a series of exercises to build up strength and stability. I need to be better about doing the exercises at home to help speed along my recovery, but from the office visits alone, my problem areas are improving and I'm so glad I finally made that first appointment to get started. If you've got a nagging issue that you've been putting off addressing, go to Rose and get yourself right!

Sessions exceeded two hours and once she was done torturing me using pressure that was agonizing or dry needles that hurt horribly, she passed me off to her techs who wasted my time having me do exercises I could do at home. She videotaped me sitting in her waiting room and made comments to other PTs about me, as if I wasn't even there. She often projected her orthopedic issues on me and asserted things about my health that were patently untrue. I was depressed every time I had to go there. I later found two other PTs who were night and day different and they really helped. As Ms. Sneed asserts she's the only one who could work with dancers, I found a PT who was a former dancer who had me doing things specifically to inform dance movement. She also did manual therapy and while it was uncomfortable, it didn't leave me in tears. I'd steer clear of this practice unless you want to spend two hours be tortured or doing exercises in a crowded, noisy room with techs instead of working one on one with a PT.
