Couldn't get past the first phone call. Scheduled a call to allegedly get an estimate and free onsite design consult. I kept getting texts and email reminders about my appointment and reminders to make sure I was in a quite place to get the "most from the call" with Smart Patio Plus. The call finally came and the only thing the lady on the phone was interested in is to confirm my address and schedule for an onsite design visit. I explained I was looking to get a feel/ballpark estimate for what we were looking for and discuss product details.. essentially detailing my expectations for the call based on the fact the website has you register for a scheduled call to get an estimate. She wasn't interested. Told me the starting cost for a 10x10 structure and that's it. Didn't care about anything else I had to say outside of getting an onsite visit scheduled. I explained I was working with a design team for our entire backyard and I simply needed basic ballpark figures and product information to see if it was a good fit to then schedule something. Nope. Can't give you any details. Sorry, but I'm not willing to deal with someone that has no semblance of respect for my time or theirs, no matter how good the product may turn out to be. Seeing from the reviews here, I'm glad I cut this short as it sounds like the delivery/install "process" is a bit of a nightmare. Dodged a bullet. read more

This is not going to be brief... Let me start by saying the product is 5 stars no question about it! Structure X makes the best quality product available in Southern CA. To be clear Smart Patio + is a distributor, they own the territory and make the deliveries. The following is a cautionary tale. The process with Smart Patio + started back in August 2021 and as of today (May 2022) the project is finally completed. It took 10 months!!! To move forward in the process you must posses two things: patience and trust. Patience because the process for waiting for materials and getting them installed will take at a minimum 6 months. Just accept it - 6 months! I had a great coordinator in Eric but I had to chase him to get real answers about timing. I had to stay on him to get a timetable. I just think they need to be more straightforward with timing from the get go. They are after all at the mercy of their supplier Structure X, Henderson, NV. I heard all the excuses - material delays, material shortages, gas prices, labor shortages... Look I get it but at some point this is powder coated metal custom cut and loaded on a truck. How hard can it be? You must also posses a HUGE amount of TRUST because Smart Patio + has decided for a variety of reasons to not own the process of installation. So at the end of the day you are buying $15K - $25k (depending on your project), of powder coated aluminum parts and attachments which are delivered to your driveway or backyard. You are buying just parts! Technically once this happens "the delivery" of the system, Smart Patio + has been paid in full and owes you nothing more. To their credit they helped coordinate installation, in this case with Mario Torres construction. Mario and his team were and are outstanding at every level. No question. Scheduling was tough but Mario made it happen. And I appreciate everything about Mario and his team. It took 2 days to install and it looks fantastic! One problem the mechanical louvers did not work! The long and short of it was the pivot arms that connected the motor to the louvers was a defective part (not properly milled - holes were out of alignment and the whole thing did not work). This apparently happend with several installations in the area at that time. We are now mid March and a 2nd attempt was made to "try something" to get the pivot arms to work. It did not work... I waited 4 weeks for a new part to be milled, delivered and installed. Meanwhile I had 2 electricians tell me that the process to hook the system was far too daunting for them to figure out. Mario was kind enough to put me in touch with Eric who knew exactly how to install it. Smart Patio + again, needs to better serve the customers by informing them that they really need to use Structure X certified installers and that those installers need to be introduced into the process from the beginning. I'm not sure why they are not. To be clear you ultimately you are relying on 3rd party installers (not connected to Smart Patio +) who have to know the system and how to properly install it. You are at their mercy! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GET FIRST TIMERS TO INSTALL. THAT WOULD BE A BIG BIG MISTAKE. Finally, finally, finally the system now is working. It's great and for now it works. We use it every night and love it. Never did get a follow-up call from Smart Patio + after the system was up and running to find out about it. Don't blame them for that but I would say they lack a true understanding of customer service and communication that is warranted for a unit that costs as much as it does. And any type of customer support falls off pretty precipitously once the goods are delivered. And for that I give them 3 stars. Hope that helps! read more

i am updating my review from a previous one star. the patios came out beautifully. the installers D'awning installers were amazing during the whole process. they helped make sure all corrections and missing things were taken care of. Struxure also corrected mistakes that were made. if you decide to go with them make sure everything is in contract. you will deal with three seperate people on this and things can get lost in translation. also when installing to avoid the headache use whatever electrician is recommended by the installers. like i stated we had some headaches but everyone got it completed and we could not be happier. if you get a chance to request a installation company i highly recommend you request D'awning installation. read more

Great product but lousy service. It's been almost 2 months since the pergola was installed and we are still waiting for install completion. How long does it take to change a louver and fix a leaking corner? If I had not followed up on the issues nothing would have been in motion. I would also like the soft white LED lights to be replaced with cool white lights and am being told I need to pay for them. I was never given a choice. read more

Amazing product, but Smart Patio isn't the company you want to work with. I start my process in June of 22, it's now Feb 23. Still not complete. I understand supply chain shortages, pandemic related delays, but almost 10 months to get a pergola installed?!?!? It's as crazy as it sounds. The issues are related to the fact that Smart Patio does not have any type of project management coordination. They use third party contractors to install and if there is any need for a electrician, you're on your own. You really need to ask questions and dig into details with them, otherwise you will find out about hidden fees, things that are not included in the cost and what things take so long. There are other reviews here, like the one from James H, he hit the nail on the head. Just make sure to do your due diligence. If I had it to do all over again, I probably would've gone with another company. read more

We moved to our new home and found this patio company when it was called Arcadia Louvers. Now they are called Smart Patio Plus. I like that name much better because it refers to patio covers. So we contacted the company and they sent out Ryan to show us the product and he was the nicest guy! He showed us the product and what it did and we were very impressed with what it would do. Especially the quality of the product. It is very sturdy and painted beautifully. Ryan even came out another time to do the measure and see what would work with our new home. Also, Jim the owner came out and showed us how the system would work on our home and how they could connect it. So we thought about it and thought about it and finally came to the conclusion we would try it out. I do have to say they have the most wonderful gal Laura at the office that keeps you in contact weekly on where the patio system is at the time. She was in constant contact with me (which we were very impressed with that) and if I had any questions she was there to answer them or get right back to me. She deserves a lot of props!! She was just the best. So we ordered the product and then I had BCD construction company contact me for the install. They were great! John was wonderful to work with. He was easy to text or to call. He always made us feel that he was taking great care of having our product installed. And his installer Erwin was amazing! He was very knowledgeable in every aspect of the company. They were able to get it done in a week and he even gave us some great ideas about our patio cover. They were very respectful and nice and cleaned up when they were done for the day. They did an amazing job. This process took about 4 months from buying it to the whole thing to being finished. But all in all in the end it was worth it. We love our patios and they are so nice looking. We get a lot of compliments on our patio covers. Especially during the holidays when we had parties. It just adds so much to our beauty of our home. Also, we had a little difficulty with the motors when it was first put up. So I contacted Jim the owner and I tell you, they went above and beyond to get our system up and working!! John and Ervin seriously have to be commended for their time and effort they put in to fixing the motor and the rain sensor and the remote set up on our phones. We now have access to our patios anytime or anywhere we can shut or open them from afar! read more

So I tried to get these guys to give me an estimate on getting one of their cool pergolas. I filled out their form on a Saturday and then I got a bunch of auto emails, it's the weekend and nobody's there, sure fine. Then a few days go by, a few more auto emails but no estimate. I finally call the number in one of the auto emails and ask if anyone will get back with me and send me my estimate. She tells me they won't send an estimate to me despite the fact that's what their ad and form literally says. She says I have to have someone come out, ok I get it. The form is a bit of a contact info trap to generate leads to get their sales people out selling. I understand, I'll play along. I make an appointment for them to come out a few days later and they give me a 5p to 6p window. Ok, I use an hour of PTO, leave work early and I race home to be there just before 5p. I wait on the front porch; 5 turns into 5:15, then 5:30, then 6:00...I send an email asking if they are coming; nothing. I send another email at 6:20. I call the office...nothing. 6:20 I give up...no one shows, no one calls, no emails, no texts, nothing. Totally stood up. The next day I hope to see an email reply with some sort of a reason why I waited for the guy and he never showed. Nothing. So I call the number in the auto email and I go straight to a VM that's full and can't accept messages. How hard do I have to work to earn THEIR business? read more

I can't actually review the product, since I didn't get a chance to speak to somebody about the product. I was targeted on Facebook with advertising for Smart Patio Plus and their Struxure...to its credit, the advertising did its job because I really liked the look and description of their product. Hence, the two stars, for "potential." So I responded to the Facebook ad, and started getting emails, ostensibly from Jim Dinsmore, the President and Owner of Smart Patio Plus. So I actually responded to those and called the number. The guy who answered advised that he couldn't really answer any questions, that he was a scheduler. Okay, that's fine...but first in-person appointment was nearly two weeks away...I guess business is really good for them, or they don't have enough staff. So I asked if I could just speak to somebody about the product, materials, the process, ball park pricing and other questions that arise. Eureka..."Dave" was available the next day (today), and I was told that he would call between 2-3. That should have been a clue. Not that he'd call AT 2, but between 2 and 3. Okay, I figured he'd call somewhere in the middle, and I wouldn't need probably more than a half hour to get the basics underway and determine if waiting the two weeks (for somebody to actually come out and look at our project) made sense. So today, 2PM rolled around...then 2:30, then 2:45. I figured that Dave would call with some sort of explanation. Nope. 3PM rolled around, no Dave. I had taken an hour of my day off my schedule (and, like most of us, I'm busy) and set it aside for Smart Patio Plus. They didn't have the respect to call...PERIOD. So, I called them. I asked that Jim Dinsmore give me a call back. How can they expect that anybody would want to do business this way... From some of the reviews here, it looks like some people get a good product. But starting out a relationship by effectively flipping the bird to a prospective customer doesn't bode well for a future love affair between me and Smart Patio Plus. Miracles are possible, and so hopefully they can make it up. read more

The problem with this company is that they don't install their own systems. Mine was delivered last week and the company they use for installs are not available to install the pergola till February 16th. That's two months from the time the parts were delivered to my house. I canceled the install and now I have to find someone to install the pergola for me. This is Absolute madness!! If you care about customer service, I would stay away from this company at all cost, you could end up with very expensive pergola parts spread out in your yard with no one to install it. They are so eager to collect fees but single handedly delayed my project. The engineering drawings I received were not what I was purchasing!!! They told me it would take another 4-6 weeks to get the correct engineering drawings!!! It took me contesting my cc charge for them to even respond as if they cared!!! It took me three months to get my pergola Aaron the salesman that sold it to me, quit calling me back as soon as he got my money. I decided not to pick the white because I decided it would stick out like a sore thumb. I only picked the white because Aaron told me I should. He said the black would look too dark. Smartpatio showroom and team sell dreams, and yes this is a great product. The owner, when visiting us to finalize the project, even served us a speech about the importance of customer support. But after we signed with them, the reality showed a total different face. It all started with the first installer, making total fun of us. Smartpatio chose not to take us seriously, probably trusting the installer more. Communication was terribly poor. We had to call and email them numerous times, until we were able to find the owner's contact information. Struxture headquarters kindly gave it to us. In the meantime we tried to find an installer on our own but this very specific product requires experience and we failed. Therefore we struggled so much, and it took us months to have Smartpatio assign our project to a different installer. Even if we pay, this second installer wouldn't answer or agree to come if smartpatio weren't commanding them... Once the pergola installed, finally, we had an electrical issues, on which, again, Smartpatio didn't give support. They even asked us to call the motor manufacturer ourselves. When finally the electrician came, after months of e-mails and phone calls, he was surprised and asked: "it never worked but you just called now?" I was shocked. Smartpatio just didn't take our issue seriously, and wouldn't bother to notify the electrician... So... when there is an issue, customer support is definitely not their priority at all. If we could go back in time, we would definitely give our money to the competitor: Superior Awning. read more

Frustrating Experience!!! Only giving 3 stars in anticipation that the product is as good as promised ......but still yet to be delivered. Will update review later if necessary. Process is way longer than expected. Due to Covid , delays are expected but truly feel that great communication is the key to make up for that. Thats where this has fallen short.....Communication has been extremely lacking, from non responsive updates, no return of email inquiry on status (sometimes for days) , to incorrect information provided. Not what I expected for the type of money paid for this product. I purchased a pergola from Arcadia approximately 2 1/2 years ago. It was a spectacular addition to my yard, replacing a regular wooden pergola that was falling apart due to neglect by the original property owner. My new pergola seemed perfect for our needs,...until the motor stopped working. Repairs to my unit (covered under warranty) were just completed by John Carney (BCD). John meticulously fixed the motor and installed a new control circuit board. He also took time to inspect the entire pergola and modified my electrical box to permit easier manual back-up operation. I bought the patio system from Smart Patio in July. It was installed by BCD a few days ago. I did have a great experience with Jim (the owner of Smart patio) and John (the head of BCD), they are very good professional and very easy to talk with. The installers from BCD really know how to install this patio, they installed my 20'x10' patio system in 1.5 days. Overall the job is good, except some details, for example, where to put the motor, antenna..., they just simply screwed the antenna in the front of patio bar, left two holes and a wire exposed in front, it could be easily to put some place behind the patio. Hopefully, the installers can not only make a working system, but also a good looking system. I have to say Arcadia louvered patio cover is one of the best patio system in the market. He assured what was ordered was delivered, and when changes had to be made, he was THE MAN! After measurements were made and ordered, Jerry and I had new windows installed. We had no idea this would change everything! Jim worked with his installers, graciously included the new specs and viola! everything worked out!
