I have bought two cars from here first car was good, went back in Feb git another car. The next day after I drove it home my check engine light came on. Took it in right away they got it fixed it was the catalyc converter. Now i have another issue, they been giving me the run around for a wile. Miss leading information . Called them to ask about the warranty told them what codes I was getting they told me to go online and submit a warranty claim. I told the person on the phone that I have not taken the car in to a shop he said it was fine that just to go online. Sent in the email the begining of the month. last week they finally got back to me and told me (after calling them multiple times) i had to take the car to a shop so I Finally took my car in to a shop to get a diagnostic. They call me to tell me that the injector is not covered under the warranty because its not an internal motor part. So now im stuck paying out of pocket to get my car fixed. I understand, but why the hell dint they explain to me when i called and told them the issue i was having. I been with out a car for over a month made 3payments. One dollar with promise to make a payment in a week after I honestly went through (2) other cars one being a Ford fusion that seemed a little rough driving and the other was a Ford fusion. That was an older model but look kind of rough. I want that with a 2011 Honda Accord EX-L it's obviously been well taken care of. They provided a Smart Motors, the Carfax and history of maintenance. Do not buy a car from this place. I repeat DO NOT buy a car from this place. Every chance they get they will take as much money from you as possible. I purchased a car from them in Feb. of this year. It lasted for about 6 months then died. Could not get it to start at all. What they DON'T tell you at time of purchase is that if they have to fix your car for any reason EVEN if it is under WARRANTY, they will charge you $100 deductible. Return of Motor Vehicle to Smart Motors Speedway As you are fully aware, we bought a Lexus vehicle in 2017. One evening my husband attempted to start the car to pick our daughter up from school and found that it would not start at all! The car had to be towed in and we found out that in the "turning off" of the immobilizer of the car, they had ruined and damaged the gearbox and the steering column assembly!!! We went by to pick up the car (Lexus) as they told us the car was ready..When we got there we found that the car did not work properly at all after that!! (Towing episode) We refused to take the Lexus back into our possession and asked for our money back. Since the company was not interested in returning our money, being the crooks that they are, they got us interested in another one of their traps!! At the show room they had a Ford Escape '08 registration CGC1062 (AZ) We looked at the car and asked if it was ever in an accident and we were told that it had not been. In good faith we took the Ford for $1000.00 more...huge mistake!!! Things went okay for the first few days, we had problems with the air-conditioner and I, Penny brought it in, only to be told that there was nothing wrong with it!! Everything went okay for a bit and then they started their nonsense again turning the Ford on and off at random. We had to replace the steering column and the brake booster and the electronic units for the braking system, as well as the relays...We also had to replace the air-conditioner ,complete system . The radiator and fans had to be replaced as well. The engine oil sensor, the engine mountings, the battery had to be replaced and then the alternator as well. We contacted your company (Smart Motors) and we were told that it was not a new car so therefore they were not interested in even helping to fix or repair anything. We were left on our own to foot the bill!!! We also had to pay for uber, taxi and car rentals for about three months. The total of which came to approximately $7000.00 While the car was at different locations being repaired, you people at Smart Motors kept switching the car on and off being a total menace when people were attempting to do their job. I called John to let him know what was happening and he was not interested...again it was only about a car payment!! We fell behind on our payments because of all of this. I kept in touch with John and the financial team. I kept getting told that the car was up for repossession!! I was still driving the car when he had reported it and also said that I had to bring in $2500.00 He said that if I did not bring I, he would report the car as stolen to the police. Even though I asked for help while I was waiting for a check to arrive and also that I had no work as we were shut down because of the Corona virus... John was NOT interested and just wanted the car back!!! He did not even care that my daughter would be driving the car at night to work and school!!! As I am not working at the moment because of everything being put on hold...John is only interested in getting the car back. I checked my credit report and on the report it showed a balance of $1700.00 yet John wanted $2500.00 I don't trust anyone or anything coming from your company now. You all were never there to help us. It has been stressful from the very start!! John says that the car has been repo'd at the beginning of Feb.'20 yet I was still driving it then and still have the car in my possession ... I am returning the car, as I cannot afford this car under these circumstances. I do NOT trust John and what he stands for...as he says one thing and does another. As well as, there is always a threat involved. I cannot work like this and John has caused my family and I a lot of stress. That car was always breaking down at random and had to have it towed in to repairs a few times. All this was started by Smart Motors shutting off the immobilizer/GPS device that caused a major short in the car that has cost us dearly at the end of the day!! We went to three different workshops and they each found that to be the problem and the cause of the gps immobilizer. On these grounds I am returning the car and want to have nothing more to do with it...this has caused us a lot of stress. With John threatening to have us towed where ever we would be. He would NOT listen to reason. I will never refer anyone to Smart Motors anymore EVER. We were treated badly from the get-go and there was nothing we could do as we were hard pressed to have a vehicle. First month was great, second month the cranky pulley broke off as I was driving down the road, the smart motors said they would look at it but they don't replace it so I went ahead and spent 1600 to fix it. Two weeks go by and the ax goes out, the dealership said that it wasn't the compressor like Break master had said it was just the caps and there was no leak. DO NOT BUY HERE. They sold my 2 sisters and my husband a broken down car. Horrible. When you apply for a car they make it seem like you have many many options but will come back with 2 pieces of paper saying choose from these. The customer service is whack. The salesmen barley know about cars. The service team IS THE WORST. From day 2 of having the car it over heated and they only "topped off anti freeze" instead of doing their job to diagnose the problem (this happened 5 times that we have record of), the fan actuator was broken and they found out while the service manager drove my over heating car to Orileys down the street and had them diagnose the problem instead of doing it in the service center where the issues should be diagnosed. They "replaced" the fan but it STILL clicks all day everyday even when the car isn't on. The management could care less about what you are dealing with when you are buying from them. Please consider never going to this place. They will cheat you out of money with cars they buy from the action and sale the next week (have record of that too). You are literally better of buying a little tike and using that as a way to get around because it's much more reliable than them! read more

Be careful what you sign! I purchased a 2010 Ford Escape for 21,000 19 months ago. It is a lemon because no one can fix it. 3 months ago it began to have electrical issues and no one can diagnose it. I've had it in 4 different shops and Smart motors claim they can't fix electrical issues so I did not bring it back to them. It starts when it wants to and all hazard lights come on even while driving and speedometer stops working. Her truck has been in the shop 3 times in 7 months with major repairs and we had to fight for them to do it. Alex was her salesman who told her if ANYTHING went wrong in two years they would fix it. Yesterday her muffler literally fell off and was told it was so corroded they were shocked it had stayed on as long as it did. She called them and was told they had no mechanics and would be at least two weeks before they could LOOK at it to see if they would fix it. Meanwhile she's paying $250 every two weeks for it. I found your approach to an insignificant engine problem both misleading to my wife and VERY EXPENSIVE. My wife took her car in for a scheduled 'recall' notice she'd received. Her 'check engine' indicator icon was lit on the dash panel of her 2010 Prius of 173,000 miles. The service technician told her that the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Valve was malfunctioning. She asked whether that was a problem and was scared into believing that the issue "might prevent the engine from operating optimally" and that her "gas mileage might suffer". Both statements were true, but definitely not critical nor dangerous to the vehicle's operational safety. She wasn't told that it was for the smog control system on the car. She was charged almost $850 to replace the EGR Valve! A search online locally shows that this type of repair on her car should be between $484 and $832. Naturally, Toyota is right up at the highest price point. EGR Valves can be serviced and cleaned to extend their life, but this was not offered as a less costly alternative, as Toyota "recommends replacement". Of course they do. More dollars given to the Service Department. 100 miles later, the 'check engine' indicator light reappeared. I took the car in to find out why and was told that a sensor that monitors the EGR Valve had (coincidentally) stopped working. This repair would cost another $645!! I told them they had gotten their last money from my wife and I and that I would be taking her Prius somewhere - - that is, anywhere else in the future. Toyota is a company that has the most expensive repair parts and charges exorbitant rates for their labor hours. read more

If you would have asked me a week ago I would have given them 5 stars. They were amazing. UNTIL... 2 weeks ago I was out of town. They have me on auto pay. The auto pay tries to take the payment at 2am on your pay day. My bank direct deposits the check at 4am. I have complained about this many times. They kept telling me that it would be ok that they would rerun it in the morning. I called this week and found out that they never took my payment last week. I was all fine to pay it right now. They said that my account manager was no longer with them but they tried to take it and it must have declined. The money was in the bank so I asked them for proof of the denial. They could not produce any proof. Normally I would say, ok, no biggie I paid the late fee whatever it was and moved on. The problem is that Smart Motors has this incentive that if you make every one of your payments on time the last $1,000 would be forgiven. I spoke to the General Manager, Rick Orso about the situation and asked for an exception since it was their fault that they didn't assign me an Account Manager. He would not make an exception and said it was my responsibility to pay the loan each week even though for the past year my account manager would run the card. Legally I realize I most likely have no leg to stand on but there is a difference between legal and good business practice. Smart motors will keep their $1,000 incentive. Fine, I will just make sure everyone I can tell in the world know that they do not have good business practices and next month when my wife and I are going to buy a second car I know one dealership I will not be buying from. read more

I'm pregnant and asked for somewhere cool to wait while they replace it which is going to take 30 minutes and the employee told me I could go sit in the shade where there are no chairs . Couldn't bring myself to give two stars. So I don't have any credit but I have been in Tucson my whole life and I have had the same job for 3 years. THAT BEING SAID... I would rather take the bus. They requested i bring 3 paycheck stubs, rentals agreement, and ID. Than they required i give them 8 references. After that was all said and done the cars I was approved for where 2001-2003 cars with a $99 down payment. Awesome, I thought until I looked at the prices of these cars before APR and Financing fees. They where $10000. Let me add a comma $10,000. What.??? I told them I wasn't interested that price was crazy. The KBB value of all the cars was less than $3,000. They then said they offer a limited warranty that was the reason the price was higher. So their warranty is worth $7,000+. Nah. I told them I was not interested. Then they called me for a month straight asking when would you like to come in. I told them the prices you offers are not worth it and I'd hate to see the APR. We spend over 80 hours of our own time taking it in for repairs from one place to another all over town, on our dime. Smart Motors was footing the bill for the repairs until they found that it needed a new motor. They claim that they have a 2 year warranty on the motor but they were not willing to put it this vehicle. We were calm, cool and collective through the whole process due to them working with us up until this point. They offered to refund our deposit and take back the truck ... leaving us with no vehicle. I went to them in the first place due to credit issues, and now we have nothing! I would not purchase anything from this company. It was the worst experience and 45 days of our lives. We ended up finding a GREAT truck at Tucson Auto Sales, let them know we referred you if you are looking for a new vehicle. The owner is great and takes care of you. read more

If you like NOT being able to drive your car because they have screwed up their accounting system then you have picked the right place. If you like getting jerked around and lied to, again this is the right place. In short, AVOID AVOID AVOID, I would trust a random stranger on craigslist more than this company AND creative car credit. On 2 different occasion their "technology" they use for payments has royally screwed up. The fun part is that one time it was on an extended weekend and the other was on the same day a payment was drafted out of my account. On both of these occasion the car is completely disabled. Even punching in the code on the remote they give you DOES NOT fix the problem. What good is there in having the payments automatically made for you to NOT be able to drive your car? When you DO finally get ahold of someone you are treated as if they are doing YOU a service by making the car that you are paying for driveable again. Coupled with the fact as one of the others have stated - they are very rude on the phone and make promises they can't keep. Within the first 2 weeks of owning the vehicle I purchased from them, it broke down. I was told that there was something wrong with the motor. When I drive long distances in the vehicle, and have it off overnight, for the next 2-3 days the vehicle takes forever to turn on. Even after changing the battery the vehicle struggles to turn on. I was told I can remove the "debt cancellation" whenever I want if my bills get too high. I called to get it removed about 4 months after purchasing the car, and I was told that I only had 30 days to remove it. That I was out of the time frame to remove it. I've had a car with them for almost 1 year now. No issues they do try to sell you junk. But I was smart with the vehicle that I got. I got a 2009 Toyota Corolla with 75,000 miles on it. This decision was smart because the parts are dirt cheap and this engine last forever no matter what it was put through. I did get fucked with the price but that short term long-term my credit is going up and the loan was only for two years so with that being said I can get some thing that I want later rather than being stuck with something I don't want. Something that I do like is they give you almost 2 weeks before the the car payments is due. For example if my car payment was due April 7, 2018 they will let me go to April 14, before my car either get shut off or towed. With that being said this place is a good place to go to if you're stuck at a bad place in life and you need a vehicle.
