Even though I did not purchase a vehicle the customer service was UHHHH-MAZING! If I could have given 0 stars I would have. I bought a Honda from this place in May 2019. 4 days later the engine pulley came off. The following week, the damn car shut of in the middle of the damn street. Took it back and then it's the altinator. I refused to take the car home because it had several issues within a 2 week time frame. Gave them a chance and chose another vehicle, a Malibu 09. Took it home with 108000 miles, today it only have 109000. Only driven 1000 miles. Now service light, air bag night, tire lights, engine light, oil light is on, car sounds like a damn tractor. Both headlights went out at the same time. I kept smelling something burning. Being I work at night, I went and purchase 2 headlights and realized I couldn't put it in because the whole damn bumper has to come off. The guy at AutoZone said let him check it out because the headlights on those cars rarely goes out at the same time. Lawd and behold he checked the fuse box and said you have several wires looping around your fuse to make it fit into the selected fuse slot. It's melted to the point the fuse don't fit in the slot anymore. That was the burning smell of plastic. The fused for both headlights were rigged like that to work. That can cause an electrical fire. I called smart motors and this lady told me it's my problem because they only warranted engine and transmission. I told her, your advertisement said you sevice and inspect all of your cars before selling them. That's not true, because my motor is knocking and I haven't driven over 1000 miles on it in 5 months., it's not time for an oil change because it was serviced like you said, No damn oil in the damn car. 1000 miles I drove in this car. No way In hell you going to tell me that. I will not pay or recruit anyone to this place.......Got good damn salesmanship to be so scandalous. This company is luck I gave them two stars! My family just moved to Tucson, and told me the reason they needed $1000 off the bat for the down payment is because we have no "ties" to Tucson. We are just starting out on our house with a lease to rent, just started our jobs obviously because we just moved here in March, and then they want to say that they need that much money up front so that they know we are serious about getting a car from them! Wow, that is crazy considering I have been to this place 3 times in the past month to try and get a car, and not having a car at the moment. If I could rate them a -5 I WOULD. I KNOW IT IS LONG BUT WORTH READING IF YOU ARE THINKING OF PURCHASING FROM THEM! I purchased a 2007 PT Cruiser in June of 2015 from Smart Motors. When I bought the vehicle it had an AC issue, which they attempted to "fix" several times, before they finally sent it out to a local AC shop to be fixed. Turns out it an integral part of the AC unit had been super glued in place, to keep it from falling out, which had actually caused more complications. Not saying that they did this, it is just what the issue was. The next issue I had to, and am STILL having to, endure is the front bumper. Turns out it had previously been partially detached, and the "Fix" was to use a flimsy metal bracket and some generic "welding" to "MacGyver" it into place. Now, granted, it probably would have stayed in place had I not gone over the cement bumper in the parking lot ONE TIME. But that should not have even been an issue. So, when I went to the service center to have it looked at, the "Mechanic" had the audacity to tell me that the metal bracket is what ALL cars have from the assembly line, to hold the bumper in place. After I looked at my car, it was made clear that Chrysler only feels it necessary to hold one side of the bumper in place, as they only put one on my car. Oddly enough it was the side that had issues...how did Chrysler know this would happen? ( sarcasm) The same "mechanic" then proceeded to tell that it was obviously my fault, and there was nothing they could do besides ZIP TIE it. Then comes the driver window, it will no longer go up or down, so I am out of luck there. Yes, I understand this is a used car ( as the Operations Manager so kindly pointed out to me) and although I was not happy about those issues, I would have been happier to have to deal with those, than to be told I was SOLD A FAULTY AND DANGEROUS CAR!!!! I had shaking issues with the car since day one, was told it more than likely just needed an alignment, come to find out that NEW brake pads had been put on the car, OVER CRACKED rotors. The mechanic ( a real mechanic) told me that I must have an angel on my shoulder, for the car to have stopped every time I pressed the brakes. Then, to add to that my rack is cracked, and power steering fluid, and transmission fluid are leaking, this has been going on since day one. I brought it to the attention of the service center manager, while I was setting an appointment regarding the AC, not knowing then just how severe the issue was, I simply stated that there was an oil leak, and he said he would call me back and set an appointment for me to bring it in. Guess what never happened? Needless to say, however I will, Smart Motors in NOT in any way, shape, or form a decent place to get a car. Yes, I know they are used cars (once again) and with that will come the need for some repair, that you should expect. What you should NOT ever expect is that you are spending 10k on a deathbox on wheels, that you are putting you, your family, children, friends, and even strangers in potential danger. You should not expect to drive away in a mechanically unsound, and unsafe car. I am going to file a complaint with the AZ Attorney General, as to how and why a dealership is permitted to do so, and I have started a FB page in order to find more people who have experienced similar issues, and get them on board with doing the same. Worst customer service experience ever. Lady who served us needs some serious CS training. From the minute we stepped foot in that building, we wanted to come back out but we needed a car, so we stayed. Not friendly at all. she would just sit and stare at us like she did not want our business. Vehicles on their lot are over priced and most in bad condition. Should be last resort. Dont get lured in with the $99 down, its actually 1000+. Another sales tactic. Filled out forms, waited and then were informed we got approved and it was on to look at cars. Chose a car, looked at numbers, was in the middle of paying for auto insurance when finance specialist comes back and says we were disapproved, need a co-signer. wth?! Do not go to Smart Motors! I repeat, DO NOT GO TO SMART MOTORS!!! The wife and I went there last month following one of their "special deals" in an attempt to trade in our van. Disappointed would be putting it mildly as to how we left there. They led us to believe that our down payment was going to be one amount and ended up being another. They then revealed the price of the vehicle we wanted and we became pissed off. After we walked out we investigated the asking cost of the vehicle plus the payments and terms they were wanting. It turns out that they were asking $13,995 for a vehicle that was worth $6,400! The payments with the terms would have had us paying over $20,000 for a $6,400 vehicle. They would have made $14,465 on this vehicle! That is robbery! Truly unethical business practices! Do not go to them for anything. They will rob you. False advertising and disorginized company. You enter your information they call you and tell you your approved. Sit in their lobby for over 2hours two days in a row before we even are shown vehicles and made it clear what our down payment budget was. They made it clear that they wouldnt show us any car that was more. And right off the bat the car that had 299$ down was going to be 1500$ down and payments of 540. $ a month for a 2002 with 159,000 miles. Don't go to smart motors here is my story bought a car in Aug 14 two months later I wrecked it. My insurance company paid part of it the actual value and their gap insure paid part. I checked my credit score 3 months after it dropped 50 points and report showed I owed 5000 to smart motors they over price their cars put things on credit without notice. I've had a really good experience with Smart Motors. The car I bought was expensive with a high interest rate, but I have... Unfortunate credit. I was able to buy a nice, reliable car and I can afford, which was all I really wanted. When my dad passed away and I had to take time off work, they were very understanding and have me extra time to make my payment. Same when I broke my foot. The finance department staff is always really cool to me. They've always come through for me when there's been a problem, especially today, when my shifter broke. It wasn't under warranty, but it was a minor wiring issue and they covered it anyway. The guys in the service department were incredibly friendly and were really nice to me and my scaredy dog who really didn't want to be there. I didn't expect this kind of service with my kind of credit and I'll definitely keep giving them my business. read more

I had a 2011 Chevy Malibu since August of 2020. The tire sensors were replaced but the key fob didnt work. The service dept (Mike) offered to get it fixed and make sure those worked. (Never happened I had to do it ) never got the woodpanels for the inside either. 3 months in had to get the battery replaced. And they had to look at the fuel pump. They turned my car off on me 3 days before my payment was due. My family member never got the referral. I was getting on the freeway and the car wouldn't go... As of friday...the car died and would not shift gears. I got stuck in the middle of the road. Had the pay for a rental and a tow. The car was leaking stuff all over. It was towed to them on Monday and the service dept (mike) stated that they were not able to find anything wrong they put over 40 miles on the car. He said they only found a water leak. He said if i wanted to take the car and bring it back if it happened again i could. Over all I am very unhappy with the 7 months i had the car i paid almost 600 dollars a month for. I dont feel like they give a shit about concerns. I am a single mother with a kid who rides on that car. Why would i want to put my son in something that was unsafe..... I never in my life had so many issues with a car dealership as far as safely. Mike got mad when i told him i was leaving the car there and i just wanted my stuff. He didnt want to hear me out on why. He didnt want to give me back the key fob i paid for. Anytime i had an issue or overall concern it was a horrible time. They dont care about people. I waited 6 yes 6 hours for a car that would cost 218 every 2 weeks and the car was only 2004 van that was not in the best shape. If you are looking for a good car go-to the car lot right up the street across form bookmens I got a 2008 Chevy aveo for my daughter that is only 260 a month and a 2008 ford focus for me that is only 300 a month both run amazing and the people are wonderful there and it will really only take 2 hours at the most. read more

This car dealership is a sham and the most dishonest and inconsiderate dealership I have ever dealt with. They sold a 2008 Ford Expedition to my 21 year old single daughter that had many repair issues and various oil leaks. The car begin to leak oil in large amounts 1 week after she bought it. Although she purchased a warranty when she took the vehicle back to the dealership they offered to pay 1/2 of all of the needed repairs. In addition, they would only take care of one of the causes of the oil leakage. The other cause, because it would basically require replacing the engine, they opted out of repairing. (All of this despite the fact that they say they carefully examine and ensure their vehicles are in great condition). After complaining about how dishonest they were to have put the vehicle in the lot in that condition AND selling it to my single, uneducated with regard to vehicle shopping and the process, and vulnerable daughter (what considerate, conscientious, man/father would do this to a young girl?), I met with the service manager and the General Manager who promised they would get back to us with a resolution the next day. After calling and not hearing from them I find out that the General Manager took on another job the very next day after having met with him (which he was probably aware of the day he met with us and did not have enough courtesy and consideration to make sure he followed-up before he left) and the service manager now will not return my calls. I have two vehicles with Smart Motors, the sales staff is phenomenal. The Creative car credit people, one in particular Jose was very rude and hung up on me. I was wanting to trade my vehicle that I purchased from them and he wanted to talk over me instead of listening to the customer. I have never been late on a payment for 9 months and have another vehicle through them that I have never been late on either. I am very disappointed in the customer service from their credit department and it is a shame that one person can have such an impact on a business, customer service comes first. read more

Buyer beware. Financing through Smart Motors/Creative Car Credit is hazardous to your credit. They claim they help you rebuild your credit but that is false. I purchased a vehicle in 2014 after just moving to Tucson. They treated me fairly at first but it went downhill from there. I knew that I would pay a higher interest rate than someone with good credit but was very shocked to see an APR of 19.9. 8 went ahead and signed on the "dotted line" and made the $350 payments. My score did go up. Unfortunately I had an accident and the insurance company totalled my car. This left me without a vehicle so I naturally assumed that I would be treated fairly at Smart Motors once again.. NOT. They gave me a choice of two cars that I was "qualified" to purchase. Neither one was great, so I chose the one closest to my expectations. it was two years newer than my previous one, My payments increased by $58 a month. That stretched my budget to the max. I was doing okay making the payments until I had some unexpected expenses and had to ask for an extension. I took the opportunity to ask if I could possibly get a lower interest rate seeing as how I had been paying faithfully for two years. I was denied, and the extension I requested would bring my payments to over $500 a month for 4 months. on my income this would mean I would have to rob peter to pay Paul for those months. I voluntarily surrendered the car and was told by their credit manager that it would not show as a repossession on my credit report. They didn't lie, it shows as unpaid and open. So now my credit is in the dumper and I cannot get another car became no one will finance me with an open loan showing on my report. The only option I have now is to file a civil lawsuit at a $400 + fee and wait for a Judge to decide my future. My advice to anyone reading this is to avoid this dealer at all cost. you will end up worse than when you started. read more

Dealing with Smart Motors has been a nightmare for my husband and I. And I look at some of the poor reviews, and I feel like I an relate to each one of them. Ive been with Smart Motors for around 3 years now. I have initially purchased a Kia sedan through them. Didn't really have any issues with it, besides it being grossly over-priced and upside down on the loan. But the vehicle itself did well and service was ok. Then, about March-April of this year, my expanding family needed a 2nd vehicle. And again, didn't have any major issues except the cost (we had a power steering pump issue towards the beginning, it was fixed, and we haven't had an issue since). Until June-July of this year............. We received a solicitation from the Dealership stating "Hey we see youre almost done paying off your car (the Kia) and why don't you come in a "trade up" the vehicle since you've been a loyal cust, you can have any car on the lot at low monthly payments". So since our family was much bigger than when I purchased the Kia, my husband and I thought we'd go in and see what can be done for us. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!! They did not want to honor the phone solicitation from (I believe Creative Car Credit their finance company). They wouldn't allow us to get whatever vehicle we wanted, wanted us to trade in the Kia PLUS put $2000 down AAAAAND the monthly payments equal $500!!! Which is outrageous for a 2007 van that has high miles on it. But just like 99% of the people who go there, we felt it was one of our only options since we have less than ideal credit.....which they totally prey on. After "haggling" with them and about to walk out the door, magically they were able to reduce the down payment to get us in the van, which they could've done all along instead of us being there for like 4-6 hrs :( Then the mechanical issues began. Maybe a couple weeks of having the van, we noticed it was driving like crap which I believed it was something to do with the Power Steering. We made an apt, took it in, and it was the freaking rack and pinion which I was not happy about, since we carry around 5 small children in this vehicle. They fixed it with no charge, all seemed well. Then Id say no more than a couple months later, we were having issues with the battery or alternator and the Check Engine light was on (we also wanted them to check the Power Steering again because there seemed to be some steering issues again, not as severe). They diagnosed it was BOTH the battery and alternator, in which they replaced.....but neither was covered under the two year warranty. Now, I thought at least the alternator would be and besides, we had the vehicle around three months at this point. So they happily fixed it, charged us labor fees, all totally $400 out of OUR pocket....and the Check Engine light was blown off and they said there was no Power Steering concerns. Not too happy at this point. Fast forward to present day. Weve had been noticing again some issues with the steering. We were literally putting in Power Steering fluid in like every week or two. I was convinced there MUST be a leak. With our busy lives, we didn't take it in when we for sure realized "hmm definitely something isn't right", we waited like a week or so. We went to get an oil change at Jack Furriers, they are the ones who confirmed something is wrong which was on the 14th. They said there seems to be a leak in the CV Boot on the axle and since there have been steering issues, the front tires are completely worn and the brakes need to be replaced. We were completely FREAKED out....there was no way we could afford to fix all that. So I had my husband go down to Smart Motors immediately afterwards, because frankly this is BS!!! The guy there (Rick), stated he was the MGR on duty, but when my husband explained everything and how pissed off we were, all of a sudden he didn't have the authority to do anything pretty much and we need to come back on Monday to speak to the "Head Manager". Now, Im a Manager at my company, and "cant" is not in my vocabulary....Managers CHOOSE not to exercise authority or get a customer a resolution. We came back on Monday after work (because we couldn't take time off) and they had many people there purchasing vehicles. Rick acknowledged my husband, told us to have a seat, and hed get the guy in charge. We waited there 30 MINUTES, then just to be told "oh he went home sick earlier", piss poor customer service!! Then they said to call the next day (we have a super hard time getting ahold of anyone by phone). My husband called on Tuesday, and played phone tag with the Manager (I don't recall his name at the moment unfortunately). When he FINALLY called back, my husband felt very swept-under-the-rug and said they would like to fix it instead of getting us into something different; of course they would say that because they don't want this heap of problems back!! This dealership lacks in integrity. If there was a way to give negative stars that would happen. It is not about the buying of a car that is over priced it is their complete lack of follow-up. Purchased a Ford Ranger. Since purchased that power steering unit has been making noise. The car then began to bounce around. Took the vehicle in. They replaced the lower ball joints and shocks. The power steering continues to make the noise. The rack and pinon unit is leaking fluid. I have been putting power steering fluid in since I purchased it. The driver side outer tie rod end is split and grease is coming out. Their "Mechanic" stated that all is good and checked to prove good prior to purchase. When calling about these issues told that they will not fix them as the vehicle is "ROAD WORTHY" Having the front end of a car failing is not road worthy. I started being passed due in the last year for only 1 week because i had lost my old job, I've been a customer for years always making sure they received they're money no matter what, and they had the courage to threaten me to shut off my car, and actually did it twice so far because inaccurate data on their system. The second time, I was left with a dead car in the middle of 100 degree weather here in Tucson, and after waiting on the phone for over 20 minutes for them to fix it, one of the ladies had the courage to just give me a 24 hour pass resetting my vehicle, and hung up on me (not knowing how to fix the problem). Telling me it was my fault in the end, when I had made payments to give me coverage for another week, and it was wrong on their side. I've bought many vehicles in my life, but never had received such treatment. They treat you very nice at the beginning with their fake politeness , and after you sign the contract with them = good luck! Anywhere else is better, even for a higher interest rate. Worst place to buy a car in town. Owner is a total crook! Sells junk at an extremely high price and interest rate. Required an extremely high down pmt even though they advertise $500 down, When you are almost finished getting down pmt paid 1st car pmt is due. But wait did I mention the car died 3days after purchase. Now stuck getting car repaired, getting down pmt paid and 1st pmt due. Guess what, I was unable to get 1st pmt paid after paying total $2000 down pmt in weekly pmts and paying for repairs and they repossed the car after 3days late of 1st pmt due. I was told repeatedly that he has a "strict company policy" NOT to give vehicle prices over the phone even though on the website ALL of the vehicle listings say "call for price." I understand people don't buy vehicles over the phone; however, there is no reason not to give selling price. For all they know, I could have owned a dozen of the exact same vehicle and just wanted to buy another and was willing to pay full asking price. So my husband and I don't have the best credit so we heard great things about Smart Motors. We go in and are treated like family. The salesperson will work with you. We choose a 13 year old car with 128000 miles on it. The price 10,000. I know but they sold it so well. Took it on a test drive thought wow it runs great. We drove off the lot happier than ever that there are truely good people who want to help. Believe it or not this was on the 6 th of March. Five days of happiness costed me hell. I had my car told after five whole days of driving it. The repair guys were horrible... They told me "no update we will call." That was Wed. Friday comes after calling about every four hours whats going on they say its ready. Um no one called me.AHHHHHH. so not only did they take my payment out on wed. I had to pay for a taxi to take me to work. Thats not the worst of it. I get it back today and it breaks again. Just avoid at all cost. read more

What a horrible experience. They were all very fishy from the very beginning. Nobody would answer questions directly when asked. No one would talk numbers with me until I had already been there 5 hours! They ask for 10 references, NOT because they are references but because, I later found out, they use them to call your friends and try to get them to buy a car. The vehicle had more than 130,000 miles (a 2002) and blue book is $2300. They wanted $10,000 for a $2300 car. They came back with a monthly amount that was through the roof and when I told them I was leaving, the finance guy started telling me very loudly that under no certain terms would anyone lease to me because of my credit and certainly no bank would help me. I guess he thought he was being cool or something. I did the ADULT thing and just walked out. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!!! vehicles are a litle pricey but worth it to deal with good people and know the vehicle is safe.

My husband and I went their to get a car, the car we wanted they told us we cannot get that one because it requires more money down bla.so we endup looking on another one.They told us we had to pay certain money down plus couple weekly payment then bi weekly.We realise we endup paying more than wat we had agree to pay.The day we drove off the lot with the car. As we reach home we notice that the car wasnt clean at all.there were snacks,gums and alot more crap in the car under the seats.Chk engine light came on,they didnt fix it even though we bring the car several times to them.the gas pedal fell off while driving, we call no one return our calls, the locks stop working, the latch on the back of the car glass fell off, etc Everything is a mess.then we realise the car was bought for 2000-2500 and the sold us for 10000 now we are stuck with a car thats giving alot of problem, over heating etc, oh I forgot to mention that the battery in the car was 3yrs old our car stop running we had to replace the battery.We ask if we could get another car they say no. Kelly blue book say the car is worth 1000 to little under 2000. DONT GO THERE. NOT WORTH IT. read more
