Please believe me when I say this lady is not a good dentist and a scam artist. I am 100% for holistic dentistry and medicine. I do everything holistically. But this lady doesn't know what she's doing, messed up my mouth, and charged me fortune. I will be paying this bill off for over a year and all I got was a cleaning and a filling replaced. She cut my tongue, left a huge blood bubble in my cheek and fused my two teeth together with the filling she replaced. I couldn't floss for days(not even sure if it was true it had to be replaced now maybe that was a scam too) Then, when I went back to fix it and told her about what happened, because I payed an insane price, she just gaslit me and said everyone's body is different so none of it is her fault and she did everything perfectly. She also charged me $300 for a retainer after the wisdom tooth removal (I obviously didn't go through with it, I went to another dentist after that, an actual dental surgeon) that I didn't use and then she wouldn't refund me or take it back. She forced me to get the mold done the day before the surgery, before I changed my mind after she messed up my mouth. Also, the surgeon I went to afterwards was amazing, he said that the retainer wasn't even necessary at all, and that theirs were only $100 and it's the exact same thing. On top of that, the surgeon i went to had to take new ct scans anyways because at smart dentistry my jaw was cut off on their Ct scan. I payed over $2,000 for everything. I had a poor experience here and the business did reach and apologize after I opened a dispute with my FSA spending card and provided a partial refund. and bc of that I amended my original review from a 1 into a 2. Previously, air also went into way more details about my visit which I do feel the public should be aware of but as a professional courtesy I have excluded because at least I was provided a partial refund. I am still very uncomfortable and depending on counsel will consider my experiences here well into the future. I do not recommend this practice. read more

I've been seeing dentist for over 50 years and I can say without a doubt smart Dentistry dr. Sands has the best dentist I've ever been to In My Life yes they are thorough and they take all the tests but I have extreme heart problems and can't take medication to be put to sleep and I need a dentist that goes the extra mile and is trained in all ways . They are the only dentist I will use or recommend so if you need a good dentist look no further than smart Dentistry you won't find a better one in this state or any other. I've been working with Dr. Astrid Sands and Dr. D at Smart Dentistry since 2018. I came from having extreme trauma regarding my teeth that stemmed from a wisdom tooth extraction gone horribly wrong in 2012. I am not an easy patient to work with as the dental chair is the one place where I'm not able to control my emotions. I had avoided going to the dentist for many years even though I knew that I had issues that needed to be resolved. Astrid and her team have been exceptionally patient with me and I'm so happy to say that after nearly 5 years of extreme daily discomfort due to my dental health, I am now pain free. Prior to working with Astrid, my experience with Dentists was that they didn't listen to me or take into consideration that I was in a lot of pain. Astrid and Dr. D takes extra care to give me breaks when needed and are extremely good at communicating with me during dental procedures which as a result I no longer experience panic attacks in the dental chair. I feel really good about having dental implants and fillings that don't contain metal. They've introduced me to Ozone therapy which has been extremely amazing in my healing journey. I also wanted to note that they took extra care of me while receiving necessary work whilst pregnant. Overall, I am super grateful to have found them. It's an hour commute for me and it is well worth it. I have had a couple of times where it seemed the administrative side of the office was lacking in the way of having to reschedule my appointments or running behind schedule. However, they've also easily made up for the mishaps by taking me last minute when needed. I can't say enough good things about Astrid and Dr. D. They've got me as a client for life. Edit**Also I read the other reviews accusing them of being scams. I find this extremely disheartening and I wouldn't be surprised if the two people posting are the same person. Every time I've had an issue with Smart Dentistry, we've been able to work it out...whether regarding finances or scheduling. BEWARE!! Total scam artists. $435 for an exam and 3D scans. I told them when scheduling I had X-rays from a few months ago from my previous dentist and they said those would be fine and that the exam would only be $95. Never once did they tell me that a 3D scan would be necessary for her to "diagnose" me. Once there they advised me that she couldn't diagnose my bad tooth without the $340 3D scan. Then after getting the scan she told me she would have to surgically remove my tooth and do a bone graph for over $2,000. I explained that I'm a stay at home mom and I don't work so I have limited funds so they graciously offered to discount the 3D scan but ONLY if I did the surgery with her. She is not a trained board certified oral surgeon, she is a regular doctor of dental surgery, there is a big difference. And they don't accept any insurance. If I really needed such a complex surgery, which I don't, I would go to a dental surgery center where it would be 100% covered by my insurance and it would be with a trained oral surgeon. I wasted half my day and they took food out of my kids mouth. That was money that could've been spent on my kids instead of lining their pockets. read more

Best holistic dentists within 500 miles! We travel an hour plus from Gainesville to Smart Dentistry because they are that good. They have the newest, most sophisticated equipment, like digital X-rays so exposure is minimal. On a personal note, I got the metal out of my mouth and my health improved dramatically. read more

I agree with Lisa 0 who wrote her review on 3/4...I believe it might be a scam and it sounds like she had about the same experience as I did!! The reason I went to them in the first place and drove 1 hour to get there, was due to their website indicating that they do holistic dentistry. I wanted them to look at a tooth that had a crown on it that was giving me some pain and I didn't want to get a root canal. I found information on ozone treatments on their website and from what I researched that seemed like it might help the problem. The receptionist that made my appt indicated that they did do ozone treatment. They indicated it would be $115 for exam and 2 x-rays. The dentist came in and barely looked at the tooth and proceeded to bang on it with her instrument very hard!! She said they needed to do a 3D scan in order to determine the problem. I asked her about my options and she indicated that ozone would not help me, and that my only alternatives were root canal or extraction. When they proceeded to tell me it would be $340 for the 3d scan I got out of the chair and walked out, and complained to the manager. When I told him I thought it was a scam he didn't charge me but he also promoted root canal and said that ozone treatment would not work. Dr. Astrid has been taking care of my family and me for over 10 years. My oldest daughter was in kindergarten when we first started receiving treatment from Dr. Astrid. She now has a beautiful smile, just in time for when she starts college next year as a freshman. Not only is Dr. Astrid an excellent dental professional, but she is a genuine person. She always tended to us with kindness, gentleness and patience, which was really important when my daughters were younger. She always went the extra mile for us, fighting the insurance companies and getting authorization for treatment. She also gave us excellent instruction on how to take better care of our oral health, and took a holistic approach to dental care. Finally, Dr. Astrid is very honest, and we had no hesitation about entrusting or daughters' and our own dental health needs to her. read more
