When they perform a cavity…read morefilling, they charge the numbing/anesthesia as a separate procedure and bill it separately (Code 9215). That IS NOT standard practice and every dentist I spoke with -- about 10 total -- told me that numbing is always considered a necessary part of the procedure and is NOT BILLED SEPARATELY. Of course it is necessary. But First Choice, unlike anyone else, bills it as a separate procedure. And, of course, United Health Care doesn't pay for a Code 9215 as a separate procedure (why should they. It is ALWAYS considered part of the filling process). My girlfriend was charged about $250 extra for numbing and when she asked First Choice why, they said that they bill it separately. No explanation why. My dentist was incredulous when I told him what happened to her. If you like a dishonest, rip-off business, this place will put a smile on your face. Otherwise, find another dentist.

He was very rude and not willing to try and work me in. He then stated that maybe their office is not a fit for me. what the heck was that suppose to mean. It's all downhill after that. A bit about me. I grinded my teeth all through my teens and twenties and the dentists in the Army either never saw it or didn't care. So I didn't start wearing a nightguard until I had grinded away a lot of enamel. So when this dentist saw my teeth, she suggested I get crowns immediately. I was 34 years old and she was suggesting I chisel away the enamel I had left to get crowns on all four major molars. She exclaimed that she had only suggested crowns from grinding teeth on two other patients, so it must be serious. Mind you, the dentist I had the previous year made no suggestion. So, trusting medical professionals, I went ahead with getting crowns one side of my mouth, two molars. The dentist assured me it would be just like having natural teeth. OHH was she wrong. It was an awful couple of weeks with temporary crowns as one crown came loose and the other fell off completely. I went in to have it fixed and to say that my nerves were super sensitive and that any food on that side of my mouth was very painful. I was given another shot to numb the pain. I then got the permanent crowns and nothing felt better. That was back in December. It is September now and my teeth on that side of my mouth are still sensitive. I absolutely cannot chew anything hard on that side of my mouth. And I'm very cautious chewing at all because of the pain. I moved to another state and to a new dentist who compared old X-rays of my teeth prior to crowns and said there was absolutely NO NEED for crowns since I still had enamel on my molars and was in no pain. What the dentist at Advanced Dental Care in Ocala gave me was fake teeth with pain. SO THANKS FOR THAT. OHH and also about a $2K charge for that service. I'm thankful that I didn't get all four molars chiseled away in the same month like that dentist suggested because I wanted to be sure, just in case - things didn't go well, and they certainly did not. I'm very upset with myself for going through this unnecessary process with this dentist. I feel like I was set up, bullied even, to go through with it since my current dentist affirms that it was an unnecessary procedure. There are a few red flags with this dentist office:1) The dentist forces you to watch FoxNews or your other option is to turn the TV off 2) This dentist has very little kindness and no bedside manner, you won't feel welcome 3) The dentist can't hide her emotions when she's being dramatic about the "care" she wants to provide. She was almost insulting about the level in which I had grinded my teeth in my sleep. I will never recommend this dentist. I hope she's eventually sued for malpractice. And I wish the best for her staff - that they find a respectable dentist office to work for.

From the initial call to the appointment, the staff here made it a very easy and smooth process. The facilities are spacious and modern. The aesthetics from the lobby to the rooms lend an air of spa-like relaxation. The people are where this practice truly shines. They made me feel comfortable and at ease. They seem to know that going to the dentist is not at the top of my list of favorite places, but their friendliness and professionalism put you at ease right away.
