They've been exceptionally helpful in all things - from organizing the funeral and taking a lot off of my own mind on how things should be done, to actually sending a very nice man to our own home to discuss the arrangements. As for the caskets, I did look at prices outside of the funeral home and found the prices to be comparable, in fact the casket I chose for my father from Spangler was far nicer and less expensive than I was finding elsewhere. They were kind, considerate, and in fact have been exceedingly helpful and thoughtful all the way through my father's death. I can't recommend them enough.

Unfortunately, because she was actively sick, she was ineligible to do so. My mom went to live at a SNF and I gave them Tulips name as the place we would use when she passes. A few weeks later I got a call from Tulip and the man said he was sorry my mom passed and was calling to help with the arrangements. I said "I didn't know my mom passed, thank you for letting me know" I was a little surprised that the skilled nursing facility did not call me first. He then said "Oh my mistake, I thought she died," she had not died, it was a follow up sales call. When my mom passed yesterday, my family and I decided to use Tulip, and called to make the arrangements. The gentleman I spoke with told me that the "turn around" time would be six to eight weeks because the crematorium is BACKED UP. BACKED UP??? SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS!!! So that was an immediate NO. Please, please, please know that a crematorium that is backed up six to eight weeks is a HUGE RED flag. There's so many horror stories about funeral homes and direct cremation companies, please do your research.

I found Acme Memorial through Yelp and as soon as I called, Paul was very sympathetic and very helpful in helping us getting a headstone at a decent price. We worked solely through phone and email, which was very helpful since I don't live in the Bay Area. Paul worked with the digital pictures we sent him and he even photoshopped the photo to remove the background which came out great. Paul even got the headstone done and delivered to the cemetery in less than 4 weeks. The headstone came out great and Paul made the process really easy for us during a very difficult time. Being part of a large, multi-generational family, I have unfortunately found myself attending services there at least once a year for much of my life. As an adult, I've had the responsibility of taking a more hands-on role in funeral planning, and I'd like to share three experiences. The first was for my uncle--while not related by blood, he was absolutely family. There was significant family drama leading up to the service, including a grandchild sending threatening messages. When the staff became aware of the situation, they handled it with professionalism and care, arranging for support to be on standby if needed. Thankfully, it wasn't necessary, but Paul was fully prepared to take care of it. The second experience was a little over a year ago, when I was making arrangements for my own mother. Paul, the owner, sat with me through the process. He and his staff were incredibly professional and compassionate. Paul made sure I understood all my options and gently reminded me to take my time--he made it clear he was there for me, without rushing me at all. The third experience was about two months ago, when I was there in my professional capacity as a minister. I was asked to support a husband making arrangements for his wife. I watched as a man, in deep grief, struggled to process what was being said. For the first time, I wasn't the family member making decisions--I was observing. The staff at Chapel of the Highlands handled everything with patience, professionalism, and genuine care. Walking through these difficult moments is never easy, but it brings comfort knowing that Paul leads a team that is caring, hardworking, and professional. Their rates are very affordable for the service that they provide. The employees we encountered were courteous and professional. They are able to get you the death certificates here. PIS did a great job picking up Dad from the hospital on time and preparing him on the day of his viewing. He looked very peaceful as if he was just resting. We came here for my grandma who passed from covid19 Dec 2021 since we were recommended as this was a sudden death cost and this place was said to be CHEAP. Apparently, you get what you paid for. Initially, everything was promised and a pretty picture was painted to getting the tombstone done etc. Fast forward, months later (nearly half a year) POST-burial..we check, and no photo or inscriptions written on the tombstone. We are already going through so much torment during this period. Yet we had to constantly call them asking many times to follow up, and they had the audacity to yell at us, & ignore our calls. Half-done job (months later), and then tell us they don't want to do it anymore and give us some money back. Really? We told them that we need receipts to claim for covid19 burial services, yet its almost been half a year, and they are still ignoring us and so I cant proceed with the claims. Still waiting now, and still getting hung up on the calls by Cynthia Yang (director). Very shady & unprofessional service. Don't come here. They might have some tax fraud going on, so they won't give us proper receipts. Now we are worried about retaliation, yet I believe this is something righteous to do and everyone should be able to see the truth to make a well informed decisions for their loved ones. If I could turn back time, I rather pay double the cost and not come to this place. If I could give this place negative stars, it is what represent their business.
