Honor cremations is a legitimate organization. My family chose Honor Cremations and had a successful Cremation and Memorial with them. Customer service: 5/5 Value: 3.5/5 Execution: 5/5 From a service standpoint, they excellent. The team is available 24 hours via phone and text. For the majority of my work with them, they were extremely responsive, had good pass downs between shifts and team members, and worked to meet all our needs and timelines. They never pressured us into anything or upsold us. They just wanted to support whatever we needed. My family needed an expedited cremation and memorial all within a week of my family member passing and Honor Cremations was able to make that happen and get the paperwork done with the county in that timeframe. Honor's paid casket option was cheaper than other crematories and was a very nice, presentable casket. Honor does not embalm in house but has embalming providers they can work with. The only reason I would hesitate to select Honor again is because other crematories were more cost effective (up to $1000 cheaper for our package selections), but Honor did what they could to reduce costs and provide flexible options and offerings. The hospice nurse who was part of the team caring for my wife asked whether we had decided on a funeral service, literally a few days before her peaceful passing. I was looking for options other than the well-known Bay Area mortuaries or cremation services, and grateful to have found Honor Cremations as part of a last-minute search. The founders of Honor Cremations answered my phone calls, chat messages and emails in rapid succession because everything was happening so quickly for me. David took a majority of my questions and was able to answer them in a timely manner because I didn't have a complete understanding of the process. I selected their Pacific Cremation and Scattering Plan with Family Service. Mayra responded with a detailed email explaining the chain of custody process for a family member in their care because they also work with a mortuary in Fremont to handle the cremation, and then deliver the bamboo urn to a partner service in Sausalito called Marin Memorial Services for a charter boat cruise out to Kirby Cove for the scattering. The memorial at sea turned out beautifully that day. The standard price for the Pacific Cremation with Family Service is for a group of 6 people, but additional people can be added at a reasonable per person fee. If necessary, Honor will also contact Social Security to inform them about the passing of a loved one, and coordinates with the specific Bay Area County to process and purchase death certificates for the family. The death certificate process is what takes a little while, but Honor does follow-up to make them available for pick or send them. Contract review and signature is handled with DocuSign. Payment for services is handled via a secure online portal. When my father passed away neither I nor my mom was looking forward to what we thought would be an arduous process in selecting someone to take care of his cremation and then dealing with the all the related arrangements surrounding that. I prefer to minimize the amount of time I spend on the phone talking to businesses and like to handle things online as much as possible. My experience was not just great, it was extraordinary My husband had died unexpectedly, I had to "shop" for cremation services. I wanted to see him once more and try to get a mold from his hand and a face mask as a keepsake I could touch. The only company that did allow me to do that, was Honor Cremations. I had been warned I should not see him, since he had been already 4 weeks in the morgue for an autopsy. But Honor's team had prepared him somewhat, so he looked still as when he had just died and slept. The rigor was already gone. My own trial to get these molds failed, but I felt so much better to have seen him and touched him, and their staff had been so respectful, I was grateful that they had allowed me that, it was a very comforting goodbye. Contrary to that, my experience in the hospital had been awful. After resuscitation efforts, they did not allow me to clean him, but had put him soiled as he was in a body bag, just like trash. Honors called me the next day, and told me their preparation team did try, and they got at least a mold from his hand. Imagine, how excited I was. I had paid $2000. That was more than $1000 less than the next and $6000 less than the most expensive company, without that helpful service. One company even asked $900 for a license to import the ashes to Germany, the consulate in San Francisco asks for $69. My husband would have been proud, he was never greedy but frugal. Cremations are a business as all, I understand that. But these people were so much more than that. They were humane, compassionate, I felt so much better.
