The team answering the phone was polite and gave accurate information about what was going on as I had made no arrangements ahead of time Working with Noel (and the rest of the team) was a pleasure. Just one of countless thoughtful and loving things my father did over the course of his long life was to pre-arrange for his cremation with the Neptune Society. From the moment our hospice nurse called them the morning my father passed away, to the staff who came to the house and very respectfully and sensitively arranged for transport of his body, to the scattering of a portion of the ashes at sea, the Neptune Society did a great job and I highly recommend them. The scattering of ashes onboard the Neptune Society's very nice small yacht, the Naiad, turned out to be an emotional highpoint that I will always treasure. The location at Pier 49 was convenient and parking was plentiful nearby. The kind, very professional and all-female crew were fantastic. Motoring out onto the Bay past the silly sea lions lolling and bellowing on their platforms in front of delighted tourists brought a smile to our faces. Conditions were beautiful and the crew was able to accommodate our request to scatter the ashes along with flower remembrances in view of a spectacular Golden Gate Bridge. In our grief we hadn't planned to say anything in particular, but a crew member offered to read a general and brief - and yet perfect - recognition of the occasion. Afterwards as we enjoyed a stroll along the Embarcadero and then a hearty lunch in North Beach, and later as I reviewed all the photos I had taken, I deeply appreciated the Neptune Society's role in helping us at such a difficult time. read more

Oh my goodness! Neptune Society was just wonderful when I was advised to make arrangements for my husband before he left on his final journey. It was so comforting to work with them. When my husband passed, they were so respectful of him. I even got a call the day after from them, assuring me that my husband was with them and they were going to take good care of him. I'm tearing up even as I write this, as it meant so much to me. They have all sorts of packages, or you can keep it as basic as you want, like I did. No stars. I have been waiting for a refund from this company for almost a month. This company has a 30 day cancellation period. We, unfortunately, had to cancel our contract. In the meantime, merchandise was sent to us. I think this merchandise should be sent out after the 30 day period in case you cancel the contract. We now had to send this back in order to get our deposit back. Merchandise was sent back & received by them on 4/3. On 4/24 Eugene Jun told me it was never received after emailing him on 4/4 that it was returned & received. Several emails were sent between 4/4 & 4/24 asking when our refund would be processed. In that time, there was no mention of merchandise not being received. I told him if this is company's customer service then I will not have any contact with them. He said 'no problem'. I even tried talking to the sales representative but he would not listen and was very surprised we cancelled our contract. BTW, we called him first to make sure we could cancel. Not a very helpful company to do business with. read more

Met with her last week in a casual environment of a restaurant to hear about all their services and get all my questions answered. Today was a meeting to review anything I was not sure about from our last meeting and get started with contract sign up. She was very thorough and explained step by step what each and every paper I signed was about. She made dealing with having to think about end of life decisions a whole lot easier. Katherine Santini of the Neptune Society of Northern California is such a person. We already made the decision to have our bodies cremated. We have heard of Neptune Society, they arranged the cremation of my mother's body, and they were the first company we looked into. During our meeting with Ms. Santini, we presented our desires. She understood our needs, presented options clearly and brought to our attention laws and customs and their solutions we had not thought about. Did you know there are only 4 countries in the world that their travel plan will not provide service? She gave us many forms and documents to complete before our next meeting. Many of these same forms are used different companies, municipalities, and spiritual procedures. During our next visit we concluded all the business. When we left that last meeting, we were so relieved that we had prepared our heirs and friends with clear direction as to our desires knowing that with one phone call The Neptune Society will handle all the particulars in one of the most difficult times of our lives. Me and all my siblings really wanted to like the Neptune Society. Our mother got involved with them when our dad died 37 yrs ago so when she died last month we followed thru on her wishes and called them. The two individuals who arrived to pick her up were terrific; reassuring, sensitive and respectful. In fact, to be fair, the whole staff conducted themselves in similar fashion but that was the best part because the execution was atrocious. Without going into to detail let me tell you that it is very disconcerting when days after the death certificate has been issued and you thought the cremation had taken place as promised, you learn your loved one's body is still in a refrigerator somewhere in Emeryville. Then you're told they will handle it directly and call you back but days later they still haven't. You call again and they tell you, "oh, yes, we'll call you back" but they don't. Another week goes by and you call again and no one can tell you what's what but "we'll call as soon as her ashes arrive" but no call Finally, 30 days after Neptune took control of our mothers body they call to say, "Oh, we're sorry. You can come pick up your mothers ashes tomorrow..." When you arrive you learn the simple gray box you'd ordered your mothers ashes to be delivered in 30 days earlier is not available. An unbelievable, unacceptable and very disturbing experience. read more

I will be the second generation of my family to use Neptune Society, Belmont, CA. They took great care of my parents, respecting all their prearranged decisions, and also allowed me the opportunity to help prepare their bodies for transport. I know this isn't what every survivor would want, but it gave me closure at a time I desired to do a "last honor" for my folks. Neptune charges a single fee or sets-up payments, but their cost is fixed as of the agreement date. They also can collect a body from any country with a US embassy, which I chose because I enjoy travel. The fee is held in trust and if the body is not recoverable (went down with a plane, etc.), the fee goes to the survivor. read more

This was the worst experience for our family. Losing a family member is hard enough, but to have to make multiple calls to this place to see how my dead one's paperwork was going along was not something I expected to do. We spent $3000 in his place to have my dear one cremated with the idea they would take care of everything, all the paperwork. I specifically told them the remains would be taken to Mexico for the final resting place and they said they would take care of all that paperwork. They didn't. It's been 6 months and tons of phone calls and emails unanswered. Finally my brother went there and they just handed him the paperwork they had and told him he had to do the paperwork to Mexico himself. That's another $400 we will spend to get this done. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. This has been truly the worst experience of our lives. read more
