Prepped for a house party and decided to use chaffing dishes on a last minute. The issue was I ran out of chaffing fuel! Food4Less was my go-to for that and wasted so much time looking for it just to learn they no longer carry it. I could have gone to Sam's (not too far from Food4Less) but it's the weekend and it's safe to assume that place is gonna be mad crowded. On my way to pick up ordered food to serve for the party, here pops out Smart & Final, and I thought... "has this place been here this whole time?" Located off Vermont Ave in Torrance. Not much to say about this it's your typical grocery store set up. Signs are visible of what items your need in the rows/aisle. Check out was smooth and pretty quick granted it wasn't too crowded inside. They do have some good deals on a lot of stuff and some items in bulk as well. Main reason I came was for the butter toffee peanut the location by me has been sold out for the past two weeks so I decided to go check another location and this one had them in stock. Abundance of essentials on hand. Easy to look for items. Clean, bright and well ventilated facilities.

This store is not typical as they have a problem with putting the groceries they bag into your basket. Strange, some type of small mind thinking considering customers pay your salary. Another issue is with recent renovations, you think produce quality would have upgraded as well. The new look is all smoke and mirrors if the reason you shop there is not being satisfied; like the experience of choosing great firm clean and unbruised fruits and vegetables. Make your buyers more accountable with higher standards when selecting our foods. This is not 3rd world and we will not get used to it. Do better especially since your cost is expensive compared to stores like Walmart and food 4 less and Sam's Club that carry way better produce. When this store first opened, the produce was some of the best around. I went in the other day...Every piece of produce I bought was limp, wet and soggy. The grape tomatoes in the container were mildewed. The blueberries were mushy and 3/4 were mildewed. This is just unacceptable at the rates they expect people to pay. So I place a huge meat order on a Tuesday for next week FRIDAY pickup. 10 days in advance. Kid from the meat department writes it down on a notebook. Even took my phone number down. I come on a Friday and ask how do I get my order. The register calls the manager his name is "Danny". He tries to find my order and said they didn't place that order. So I asked him in the future how can we fix this problem. He said talk to him and will place the order. I told him how about if you are off that day. He said to talk to him. "What"?! How can I talk to you if you are off? He just kept insisting to get a hold of him even when he is off. How the heck do I get a hold of you in store if your off?! Smart and Final is a great place to buy certain items in bulk that you would not find in a Costco. I love the fact that this is the only grocery store I know in Torrance that sells bags of frozen mangoes (it's great for smoothies). The aisles, however, are relatively small. read more

This Smart & Final, like most, is a quiet one. Most of the time there's only one register open, even if the line to check out is long. I can always find everything that I would need here, no problem. Prices are awesome, selection is great, as is quality. Returns are easy, too. As long as the packaging is closed and you have a receipt, you'll get your refund, no problem. Parking is never a problem, but random, runaway shopping carts can be. Just be careful whilst in the parking lot! read more

I usually come here and buy my food, with my ebt I was buying stuff around $200 I was concerned about how much I had on my ebt the lady at the counter told me we can check we just need the pin I checked to see my balance which I had enough as soon as I was gonna complete my purchase the lady told me she needed an id because there is fraud with ebt and that they were checking every one with a high amount, it is ridiculous she could've said it the first time I asked to check my amount. read more

The Smart and Final in Torrance on PCH has been redone and it looks amazing! This is the place to go when cooking/preparing for a house party and just simply have a big family to buy for. Not as big of a bulk of products to buy like Costco but bigger then a regular supermarket. This is my place to buy croissant rolls, papertowels, toilet tissue, paper plates, and toilet paper. Terrible delivery service! DO NOT TRUST! I placed an online order and specifically stated if the gloves requested was not available, cancel the order. I had to purchase over $100 to get delivery. So I ordered whatever I could use and since their website did not say it was unavailable, I figured it was in stock. Anyways, they use SHIPT and the shopper did not get what I specifically asked for AND I was also charged for items I did not receive! Not sure if he just replaced with other items he had or what but it was horrible. They are told to leave the items at the door step to avoid contact. I also did not receive an itemized receipt at the time of the delivery. I will never use this service again! It was the first time and definitely the last time! My family and I love the good deals and how convenient it is for us. However the staff can be a little more friendly- especially Jackie ( with dirty blonde hair and acrylic nails) . She continuously give my mother and I a cold shoulder every visit. She makes no effort in small talk or a "have a good day". Ordered 12 cases of bottled water to be delivered and the driver delivered it to the wrong address and was charged for it. When I tried to call them I would always go to voice mail and it would say to use email for quicker service. Sara from support (email) said it shows the water was delivered to the address specified and there was nothing they could do. Still cannot get a live person on the phone. Overall I had a great experience. Walking into the store, everything felt clean and fresh. I went in the morning and all the shelves looked full and nicely stocked. All the employees greeted and acknowledged me. I needed help finding ground beef and Sebastian stopped what he was doing to walk me over. I just want to warn everybody not to order online on this store. We tried to order online but when it got delivered its not even complete and I have items I did not even ordered. I txt the delivery guy I told him my order was not complete he just said to look at my receipt. It sucks because they still charge you and there is no receipt of the items they delivered. Tom Kaye I've visited here in Carson since they opened up the store. I've noticed every time S&F put their advertisements out, they always seem to run out of products two or three days into the Ad. Also I would add, S&F just had sale for Marie Callender's dinners at $1.69 each. Another store in Long Beach only had two spaces on the shelf for only two items (lasagna & beef/broccoli). Smart & Final is a great place to get stuff you need when throwing a mini party. We got here a half hour before closing time and found everything I needed on my list. From ground beef for burgers, cheese to put in the burgers, 3 pack condiments (ketchup, mustard and relish), tomatoes, chips, avocado dip, to salsa and more for a great price. read more

I really like this location, especially employees Kerby, Chris, Gaby, Jackie, Heydee and Rosemary. They always seem to be busy throughout the store, yet always have time to help their customers. It may be a bit smaller than other S&F's but this one has a neighborhood feel and the employees are top notch. read more
