This place is incredible! They made our gender reveal cake. I sent them our gender reveal email and they successfully keep it a secret from my husband and I which was so great. $17.50 for a 6" pup cakes 2022 and 2023 - absolutely LOVE the first birthday cake!! Ordered over the phone both years, so I didn't know EXACTLY how they would turn out. Last year, I asked for the cake to read "Happy Birthday Cake" with blue and white icing. This year, I asked for the cake to say "Kai and Ava" and "have a big number two on it with pink and blue icing". I do think it's cute, I just wish it didn't have a literal # on it. I spent nearly $60 on a two layer cake for my daughter's fifth birthday party. I specifically requested pink and I wanted flowers on the cake. The cake I received had swirls and no flowers and coloring that I did not ask for. To make matters worse the cake tasted like grocery store packaged boxed cake and frosting. It was so disgusting tasting I threw it away. More than half the cake was not eaten and I was extremely upset on the day of my daughter's birthday because of this. I would never recommend Smallcakes to anyone. To make matters worse, the owner or manager that responded to my complaint offered me a $10 decoration refund... Smallcakes is next-door to Local BBQ where my husband and I had lunch so we stopped in to check it out for desert. So glad we did! They make their own ice cream and Robert got a waffle cone with the Peanut butter. It was yummy! I got a Chocolate Cream to share for later. The deserts are beautiful and delicious looking. The shop is filled with wonderful cupcakes and other treats, even treats for your pup! Staff were friendly and the prices are spot on. Great value for the high quality and creativity. On the way up to Tyler I called around to find a nice cupcake shop that had diabetic options. This shop was amazing, they had several options available over the phone (gluten free, sugar free, etc.) We were able to pop in the next morning and get a variety of cupcakes that were adorable and quite tasty. She did such an amazing job on this cake, I didn't want to eat it because the detail was just SO beautiful. Very nice moist vanilla cake & vanilla icing. I felt like I needed it super quick, but she was able to work with me on my time/date crunch. Gluten free review. I'm disappointed in the lack of thinking and anticipation. Where their gluten free cakes are good, they aren't anything special and they cheat you out of the experience. They serve gluten free twice a week (Monday and Thursday). They also serve specify flavors/icings on specific days. For example, the speciality flavor for Wednesday includes German chocolate icing. The flavors for Thursday include birthday cake (generic icing covered in sprinkles) and fruity pebbles (icing topped with the cereal). This means that the specialty flavors on gluten free day is 1. Nothing special or 2. Not gluten free!! If you are gluten free, and want something special, you have to order a dozen and pay a minimum. I would love for them to reorganize their days to give gluten free people more specialty options. read more

Wow, this place is amazing! My husband and I were in Tyler for the weekend, and I wanted to try this place. We ended up going twice, it was so good! We tried several cupcakes including the Cookies & Cream, Wedding Cake, Chocolate Merlot, and the Strawberries & Cream. All of them were so amazing. Visit this cupcakery! Everyone in my family is a huge Cupcakes Wars fan and, as such, we visit cupcake stores everywhere we go. We have been to Many stores that have won Cupcakes wars, and the original Sprinkles cupcakes. We have had cupcakes in five countries and many states. Smallcakes are The Best cupcakes ALL of us have ever had. My husband only eats strawberry cupcakes and he loves Smallcakes strawberry, both gluten and gluten free versions are amazing with chunks of fresh berries. The caramel cupcake frosting is a breathtaking blend of caramel and frosting, topped with salty pretzels on a moist, fluffy, flavorful chocolate cake. The German chocolate whoppie pie was hands down the most delicious cake I have ever had, including the German chocolate cake In Germany! The blend of chocolate frosting and the signature coconut blend frosting was... just... no words. Seriously, the best. I almost never write reviews or recommend things because so much is personal preference, but these cupcakes are just too delicious not to share. Wow! We went for the sushi at Sake Sushi which was next-door. We saw the sign and decided to stop in for a cupcakes for an after dinner treat. My Caramel cupcake was fabulous! Yuk. Threw mine in the trash. Caramel icing was not made from scratch or made in house. I knew it when I tasted it. It was sticky and awful, I asked if it was made here and they responded that the caramel icing came out of a tub premade from one of their stock vendors. I went into Smallcakes and was not pleased at all. When I entered, there were two employees and one customer. One employee was helping the ONE customer they had, the other employee literally stood there. She saw me walk in and never acknowledge the fact that I was even in there. After standing there for 5 minutes, I never received a Hello, I'll be with you in a moment or is there anything I can help you with. With standing there 5 minutes of no acknowledgement, I left. When I left I called the store to get the employees name and ask to speak to the manager, was told that they were not in. Within 30 minutes, I received a call from Beth - the owner and explained the situation that happened and basically it was "oh she has only been there two months but I will talk with her". I explained to Beth if this is the way her employees treat customers, that's is definitely not good. Beth wanted to take my order via Facebook, - no that would not be happening. You want to take my order via Facebook but I come to your store where I have face to face contact with your employees and cant even get acknowledge - NO THANK YOU, you will not be getting my order nor money. read more

Let me start by saying I have Celiac.... so no Gluten :-( I ordered a custom double layer chocolate gluten free cake with vanilla buttercream icing for Thanksgiving... not only was it boxed and ready at the correct pick up time, but it was SO delicious , I didn't even share my little secret that it was gluten free... deep dark rich chocolate... not the usual crumbly mealy texture you get with gluten free and the yummy icing was super generous!!!it was decorated beautifully and the service there is upbeat friendly and very accommodating... pricey but SO worth it!!! Don't waste your time trying the other cake place that does gluten free as they don't make large sizes and they offer only one flavor... this place is doing it right!!! This is a cute cupcake shop! When you walk in the front door you see an array of wonderful cupcakes. They all look delicious! They were having a sale 4 for 10 $ so we thought we'd try them out. We had lemon, birthday cake, caramel crunch and hot fudge sundae. They all tasted fresh and amazing! The icing wss yum! The cake was light and fluffy but not crumbly. The reason I only gave them 3 stars is the atmosphere. The owner was very friendly but was leaving when we pulled in our front door parking. He smiled and waved obviously glad for customers. Once inside it was a different story. The front counter help was almost mute and Did not say one word to us. When she realized we were going to eat Them there she's was obviously surprised. Apparently most people take theirs to go. We ordered and she retrieved our cupcakes. I gave her my money and we sat down. Someone was doing dishes the whole time we were there, on the other side of a three quarter wall. We could barely talk to each other because the employee was so loud. I understand they have to do dishes but maybe there is a better way. Anyway, the cupcakes were amazing and I'm sure We will be back! We will just take them to go next time. read more
