Yummy cupcakes! Just what I needed. Super cute little shop and kind staff! They also make cakes!
Soft moist cake with creamy dreamy frosting. Service is prompt and pleasant. No lines. Clean and smells of divine sugaryness!
Great cupcakes! There are so many flavor choices. Cute shop, very clean, well stocked, and in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Great tasting treats. Always fresh and perfect serving sized. So far, hot fudge sundae is my favorite flavor, but I can't wait to try them all. Stop in and try them out.
This year for our daughter's 2nd birthday we were going with a Minnie Mouse theme. Of course I set out to find a local bakery who could make us a small Minnie Mouse cake for the party and took to Yelp to find one. Smallcakes San Antonio popped up and after looking through their gallery of custom cakes I felt like they would do a great job with what I wanted. So, I reached out via email and within the day I got a response. We chatted about the style of the cake I wanted and shared a reference photo. Then, once I got my quote I called the shop to place my order. Pickup was easy peasy and the cake turned out so beautiful. We received many compliments from our guests. Better yet - it tased just as great! So often you can find beautiful cakes but they don't have the flavor to match - not Smallcakes! The vanilla cake was light and had that wonderful vanilla flavor and the buttercream icing was the perfect amount. Overall, we had a wonderful experience ordering from Smallcakes and I couldn't recommend them enough should you be in need of a custom cake/cupcakes for your event! We will definitely be returning customers!
The cupcake was so much bigger than I had expected it to be. So definitely worth the price in my opinion. I ordered the strawberry cupcake, cookies-n-cream, chocolate cream and caramel. The cake wasn't dry it was perfect. The topping for the Oreo cupcake wasn't that great only cause it didn't really give me a true oreo flavor, definitely could be better. My son devoured the chocolate cream cupcake. Caramel was good frosting was a bit heavy but still delicious. Service was great, cupcakes were ordered through door dash for delivery. It was packaged nicely and survived the drive. Ambiance; i haven't been to this place in person. But love the variety of cupcakes I saw on door dash.
I was wandering around this strip center waiting for a friend and I wandered into Smallcakes. This is a cute little place where you mostly take out cupcakes, ice cream or other sweet offerings. There are many varieties of cupcakes available. I chose 5 different cupcakes and sat right there to eat a chocolate variety. Right away I was struck by how sweet the icing is. I prefer whipped icing, and this is about the sweetest sugar buttercream type icing I have ever eaten. I cannot say I enjoyed it. But the business was brisk with obviously repeat customers. I shared my selections with my friends a bit later, and they enjoyed all of them. The cake itself was tasty and moist. The price point is average for a cupcakery. I don't actually recall what I spent but possibly about $5 a cupcake might be in the range. They also offer small cakes to feed maybe 2-3 people for those times you need a bit more than a single cupcake. I'm giving it 4 stars because other than the icing, there is nothing I would improve, and the icing is just not my preference but others love it.

The cupcakes pack a punch, super moist, super flavorful and so much variety for people and dogs. I tried the seasonal pecan pie cupcake, and it tasted exactly how it sounds. Light fluffy with pieces of pecan in the cupcake. The topping was the perfect amount of sweet. Definitely recommend. The customer service was great, the staff was super helpful and ready to answer any questions we had.
Great customer service! They make custom cupcakes. Needed a sugar free cupcake with sugar free frosting for a family member who's diabetic, for their birthday. Small cakes San Antonio totally delivered. The cupcakes were moist, and the frosting was awesome, and I usually don't even eat frosting, but these were exceptional. Give em a try and support this local small business.
This place is amazing! I so glad I had looked into places around the area I moved into, because I am a very avid enjoyer of cupcakes! This place has very delicious and sweet cupcakes. They're a little expensive but that shouldn't hold you back from getting something great. I highly suggest that you try it especially with how good these pastries are. There shouldn't be anything holding you back from trying these, oh yeah and the staff is awesome!

The place is clean and if you go early enough, they display most of their available flavors right in the window! The ya rent shy about telling you about each and every cupcake; what's in it, what to expect, etc...the ladies at the counter were nice and informative. I ordered the choc-ho-lic, strawberry, and the cherry blossom cupcakes. Note: you can ask for medium sized cupcakes, if they have any. These are the same size of cupcakes you would maKe at home and not the ones on display which are much bigger. If they don't have the flavor available, ask if they have any in the back. Chances are they will! Take always: - choc-ho-lic: decadent, rich and incredibly moist and flavorful! It is every chocolate lovers dream! The frosting is velvety and not overly sweet. It complimented the cupcake perfectly. I could do without the chocolate sprinkles but they might do it for texture purposes. - strawberry: light and fluffy, you definitely get the strawberry flavor in both the cupcake and the frosting! They had a little sliver of strawberry on top which is nice! It would be great if they had some sort of a strawberry filling or gelee in the middle to bring the flavor out but nonetheless, you won't be disappointed. - cherry blossom: it's a vanilla based cake with a cherry flavored frosting and a maraschino cherry on top. The cake was light, fluffy and very moist! If there were any cherry flavors in it, I honestly didn't taste it. However, it was still very good. The frosting was light, sweet and definitely had the cherry flavoring. I thought there would be a cherry filling but I might have misunderstood the girl. I really enjoyed the frosting and would probably have it again! My recommendations since they bake the cupcakes from scratch and right in that store is to use real cherries instead off maraschino. Maraschino cherries cheapens it, but that's just me. I'd also incorporate real cherries into the cupcake itself to get that explosion of cherries! I still recommend this cake Overall, I really enjoyed these cupcakes immensely and will keep going back regardless of my recommendations. Please keep this place alive SA!! I would order a cake from them for a birthday! That's how good they are!
These cupcakes are always moist and yumm. The edges can be dry vs the center which is moist. The icing is never finished but has great flavoring. The selection is adventurous and they even sell pup-cakes
I've been here twice now, in the almost 2 years I've lived in the area, I was never compelled to try this place thinking I had already found my favorite. Smallcakes has since replaced that cupcake shop, with their consistency and quality. First time I got 6, and this trip 4. Their cakes are the week of. Objectively, they're priced on the higher end. That being said, I couldn't recommend a better cupcake shop because nothing has been disappointing. I can't speak to the issues with staff that other customers have mentioned. I guess some aren't too chatty, but this visit the young lady was quite helpful because I had inquired about when they would bring back certain cupcakes.

I ordered two orders through the Too Good To Go app & was quite happy with both of my orders. It was my first time going to the shop, so I wanted to check in with Yelp as well & let everyone know about the place & show them what they have to offer. I oddly didn't take photos when I went in. I was distracted by how good it smells inside. Yes, bakeries smell good, this was next level. I wanted to stay in there & try everything. The lady was so helpful & sweet. The other app was glitchy so she & I chatted a bit. I ordered two of their special orders. Now get this when you do that app, which is awesome - go look into it! It helps save waste, while helping the company still make a bit of a profit. I posted the pictures of the cupcakes & the cake bits with icing. Their icing is so good. The Kaluha cupcake was my favorite. Even had a little shot! It was the perfect cupcake for my 60th birthday!Yup, this was my celebration. Each of the cakes have a bit of icing inside the cupcake as well. They are rich & delicious. They also have other treats in the shop, but I'll be back to try their other cupcakes. read more
My family has been using this bakery for many years and for different events, the owner Adriana always come through clutch! I recently decided to make a special order and she was so accommodating and kind. I highly recommended this business because they provide excellent service, create beautiful and delicious cakes, and the prices are very reasonable! CAKES! Yeah, they specialize in cupcakes and can also do cakes for your dogs. I did not know they could also do birthday cakes as no one mentioned it on Yelp! I ordered the 6 inch chocolate cake for my partner. I had to customize it so I sent them a picture of what I wanted off of Pinterest. They charge $30 for a simple basic 6 inch cake but because I wanted stuff added to mine, it was a total of $37. Not bad tbh. I think the prices are fair considering they make very tasty cupcakes/cakes. I do wish you could taste/sample flavors before buying though! They have very unique names for their cupcakes( like Elvis cupcake lol) that it's hard to know what they'll taste like and sometimes descriptions aren't always accurate. Other than that, I had a great experience! read more

Adriana, the owner was so friendly and nice. She helped me with a strawberry cake the day before the party. She did white buttercream and black borders, since it was short notice for any custom decorations. I added the silver edible dust and the decoration. The cake was so moist that it was a bit difficult to serve. The flavor was delicious. The birthday girl that doesn't eat cake unless it's homemade strawberry cake loved it! Okay so I've been frequenting the Smallcakes in Lake Mary FL for over two years, so for my daughter's birthday over this past summer, before looking anywhere else, I searched to see if there was a smallcakes in San Antonio and there was!!! Smallcakes in general is THE ONLY place I will order cupcakes at so I am happy to witness that this San Antonio location did not disappoint. Five stars for customer service, five stars for making Lyric's 12 year birthday cake on such a short notice, 4 stars for aesthetics of their cake portfolio (the worst of any Smallcakes portfolio I've seen - they go overboard with the irregular icing placement) and Lyric's cake, which came out fine, per my request of "light icing". Their portfolio seriously scared me but I didn't want to go anywhere else on such a short notice. But my daughter was very pleased and I was able to sigh in relief. The actual cake tasted amazing, so overall, we were all very happy and we thank Smallcakes for coming through and putting a smile on our daughter's face. I do recommend. read more

We stopped by because my girls saw the cupcake sign and got excited! They looked delicious but the icing tasted like store bought cupcakes super sweet and the breading was falling apart right when you peel the paper. Service was great. I expected them to taste better for the price. read more

I ordered a custom cake two weeks before I needed it and payed in advance for it. They surprised me with this awful cake, not even the right color, no sprinkles on it, cream wasn't spread evenly, nothing like the picture. I asked for that design that I saw on their ig page. They refused to refund my money, $38 dlls to be exact. read more

This place was pretty good. The coconut cream cupcake tasted exactly like what I thought a coconut cream pie would taste like. The caramel crunch one was by far my favorite. The cake was moist and had a rich chocolatey taste. The caramel icing on top was thick, rich, fudgey and honestly I could just eat that out of a bowl. It's also slightly salty which perfectly balances out that sweet and salty sensation. The pretzel on top I feel would have been better if it was crushed up on top to get an even flavor of it, but that's just me being picky. The lemon drop filling is sensational. It's tangy without being overly sweet. The consistency was nice, not reminding me of jello which I don't like. The only thing I didn't like was the icing, so I just scooped it off to only eat the cake haha. Unfortunately none of us liked the cookies and cream cupcake. We aren't sure what happened with it but it tasted plastic-y, the icing was hard and crunchy (not with the cookies). I would suggest you get everything else minus that cupcake. They also offer a military discount which I think is awesome. read more
