Adult Birthday Cakes

Love Love Love their cakes, beautiful work! Starting going here for my baby shower and then used them again for my sisters birthday cake and i will be using them again for my Baby's First birthday cake!

Birthday cake

Almost every birthday cake my family has had has come from this bakery I love that it is still open! And still smells like fresh buttercream when you walk in. I placed an order over the phone after emailing them and it was quick and easy! The cake was delicious and beautiful as always my mom was surprised and loved it!

We've been ordering cakes from Lucy's for decades! We've ordered birthday cakes, holiday cakes, wedding cakes, baptism cakes and graduation cakes and all their designs are beautiful. Their buttercream icing is the BEST! Their cake is always very moist and their strawberry filling pairs very well with either their chocolate or vanilla cake.

My family has been ordering cakes from Lucy's for over 20yrs now. The cakes always look and taste great. When ordering for my fiancé's 50th, he said he knows someone who I can order from and I said no way, I know where to order even if its gonna cost a bit more. EVERYONE loved the cake. It was absolutely perfect! We had an 80's theme party and Lucy's came THROUGH!

I ordered a custom cake and it turned out beautiful and was so tasty. The price was unbeatable, too. I try to support local, and I grew up on the southside so my family was always a customer of Lucy's. I went a few extra miles to get the cake but it was totally worth it!

Lucy's Cake was recommended to me and boy what a recommendation. Upon searching for a cake place in San Antonio to make a cake for my mother's 85th birthday party on Thanksgiving weekend. I reside in Houston and contacted Lucy's cake and spoke to Dawn. Dawn was exceptional, kind, and easy to coordinate. I emailed her a picture that I wanted on the cake, the flavor, and the type of frosting. Not gonna lie I was nervous because I didn't get to see the finish product Lucy's Cake outdid themselves. The cake came out perfect that it was the talk of the evening and happy to say it was not dry. Thank you Dawn for your assistance and professionalism. I will be ordering more cakes from Lucy's.

Amazing cakes. Was able to order three hours in advance on a Saturday. Service was so helpful with directions about how to keep a cake fresh for 24 hours. The location is a tiny bit tricky to get to, but if you follow GoogleMaps, you'll be fine. Inside the store is pretty sparse and spacious--lots of cake decorations for sale, as well as cupcakes and refrigerated parfaits.

I ordered a burn image cake from here because I was surprising my husband during his town pass from BMT graduation so I really didn't want it to have any issues since I have limited time with him and travelled 8 hours. I called twice and emailed and made sure they could do it correct and they said yes and gave me a time to pick up made me pay full price at time of order. I had to drive the 8 hours the day I picked it up so I got there late and I was so flustered I just signed and glanced at it said thanks and took the cake then I get in the car and look again you could see the pink under the baby ultra sound (photo on top) he would have known immediately before getting to burn it! They said the decorator was going to fix it and then when she was done I looked again and it was still showing pink it wasn't as bad but definitely still could see pink and the decorator came out and blamed me for the image I chose and said there's nothing they can do about it and I don't understand why the two times I've called and other times emailed no one told me my image was going to be see through and I needed to choose a different color or anything. She is the baker she knew it was showing pink I don't understand why there was no communication or warning or why she couldn't just redo the image to something else when I got there. I left and the next day we had him burn it and the image was too huge it wasn't even showing "a" all it shows is "it's girl". Like are you kidding me. That makes no sense why would the baker read that and continue to put the next image on? Really I blame the decorator because all this could have been prevented and she did not give a crap I ordered a few weeks in advance too. It's unprofessional I paid $115 for a crappy version of the cake I showed them the inspo. (Workers at the front mom & daughter) The daughter was pregnant too and they weren't sympathetic or anything for my gender reveal cake showing the pink and they admitted they could see it too. I suggest not to go here especially for burn image cakes but also due to the customer service. They need a new decorator asap.

Oh my god I can't believe I hadn't reviewed this place yet. I needed to get a cake for my wife's birthday this past October and of course I waited until the last minute. I had a big family dinner at the melting pot set up and I hadn't ordered the cake yet. I went ahead at my sister's recommendation called Lucy's. We live in Blanco, Texas so my sister lives in San Antonio and offered to pick it up. I called and I will say the order takers over the phone do not have much of a bed side manner. They are very matter of fact and do not have time for niceties but they are efficient and get the job done and correct. They asked how I wanted it to be decorated and I just advised use Fall colors and have it say "Happy Birthday Alyssa" those were the only instructions. The cake I got was beyond my expectations. The end product was phenomenal. I then for my daughter's birthday a few week later ordered the cake from there as well and it was worth the one hour drive from our house in Blanco, Texas. My daughter has a tendency to ask for obscure heroes or characters this year it was Batgirl and thanks to Lucy's she had her most favorite cake yet. OH and if I haven't mentioned it yet the cake is moist and delicious and can do all different fillings. I have chosen both times the custardy cream and it has been so yummy that we will always get our cakes from here. Like I said do not be put off by their nonchalant straight to business demeanor they get the job done how you want and it is the most delicious cake you will ever have so it is worth the price and the drive.

My wife and I bought a cake from here for a gender reveal and we are disappointed with the outcome of the cake. We asked for a pink filling and they put a thin layer of a really light pink filling that no one could see. Everyone was confused digging in the cake trying to see what the color was. The front desk girl that took our order was in bad mood or something and didn't ask any questions for the details of the cake. Everything she wrote down was what she wanted. Of course when we go to talk to them about what happened "there's nothing they can do" it's upsetting and they don't put their customers first. Our moment was ruined because of this. The cakes aren't cheap and then for them to not do it correctly and not want to make it right is ridiculous!! Yes you're a business and supplies and paying your employees ain't cheap but it also costs me my hard earned money. Don't recommend!!

The customer service by phone is excellent. However, I feel I was taken advantage of for a couple reasons. I ordered a two-tier cake, stating my daughter, who is graduating from Air Force BMT, loves decorating cakes and is quite proficient at it, and I'm sure she would be thrilled to receive a professionally decorated cake. I was very relaxed about whatever flavor and whatever Air Force design was used, as long as the cake is two tiers. We flew in from across the country and had an appointment to pick up the cake the day of her Coin Ceremony. We had no time for mistakes, but given my relaxed attitude about the decor, and clarity around it being 2 tiers, I thought it couldn't go wrong. It did. The cake made was only one tier. I was furious, but had to buy it anyway due ti time constraints. The girl at the counter explained that one tier is for ten people while two tiers is for 25 people - something I had not heard yet. She did not seem to care much at all about the mistake. Since I had already paid four days ago and was short on time, we begrudgingly took the cake. We hoped it at least tasted amazing, but it was just a mediocre cake with mediocre filling and frosting. Nothing special. Publix cakes taste better. As for looks, it was a beautiful, if not short, cake. The decor was made from fondant, and could have been cut a bit more cleanly but it looked good for the occasion. Not professional, but good. Honestly, my daughter's homemade cakes look more professional. After spending two days out and about I'm San Antonio, we realized that just about everything in this city is mediocre, so maybe we are just used to better cooking and more professional service? Either way, we spruced it up by lining toy airplanes around the cake (something I specifically stated I wanted room to place a couple on top of the cake but no room was given for that.

Cake balls with Bavarian filling and a white cupcake

Lucy's never fails when it comes to cakes. They have been around for as long as I can remember. I have bought many baby shower and birthday cakes from them. The cakes are always soft, fluffy and tasty. The prices aren't outrageous either. I haven't had the first person tell that they didn't like the cakes from here This time I decided to try their cake balls with Bavarian filling. Yum! Definitely worth the calories. The staff is always friendly and you can order via phone.

I forgot the exact flavors I got, but I remember trying pistachio, Dubai chocolate, and one other flavor. They were all really good. Since I was hungry, I also grabbed a chocolate croissant, which was delicious as well. I forgot to ask them to heat it up, but it was still very enjoyable. On the side, I tried their ice cream, and it was honestly some of the best ice cream I've had in San Antonio. I believe I got pistachio, taro, and coffee on the bottom, and they were all great. At the end, I also got Turkish coffee just out of curiosity. It's not in the picture because I purchased it after I finished my dessert. The coffee was very strong, with a unique flavor that made it fun to try. One small suggestion: the coffee was very very hot and nearly overflowed the small cup, so it might be helpful to add a "cup sleeve", use a slightly bigger cup, or offer an option to make it a bit cooler (adding an ice or two). Overall, this is definitely a cool place to hang out, especially if you enjoy sweets, coffee, and trying different flavors. Highly recommended and will be back for more!

There were very limited fresh selections available, and many items were still being baked during opening hours. In my opinion, a bakery should open with the shelves fully stocked and ready for customers, especially those of us stopping in early. The prices are reasonable, ranging from about $2.50-$4.00 for both sweet and savory pastries, but price doesn't make up for the lack of availability. I expected to have more options to choose from instead of empty or partially filled displays. For consistency in early morning breakfast items, I could have easily gone to Krispy Kreme, where you know exactly what you're getting when the doors open. That said, 85°C is convenient and their mango smoothies are great. Overall, it's a decent spot, but I wouldn't recommend going first thing in the morning if you're expecting a full pastry selection.
