Nice place to watch the water. I participated in a beluga count activity, which is to monitor how noise pollution from the planes and boats affect beluga feeding due to the use of their sonar. The small harbor boat launch has a decent sized boat launch area, a gang plank to the tug boats, bathrooms, and a few free parking spots near the launch. During fishing season Diamond Park charges for parking along Ship Creek, but now it is all free.
Unfortunately, there weren't any belugas in cook inlet at the time, though others counted at least eight during their last scheduled participation count. There were at least three knowledgeable people at the site who were (por)poised and ready to answer questions. (See what I did right there?)
I will be ready with binocs to count belugas and visit this boat launch again. read more
