Loved this experience of visiting Beluga Point. In a visit in mid-September, I didn't see any belugas but this is a beautiful outlook approximately 30 minutes away from downtown. The water flow is insanely quick and the sights both up the mountain (sheep) and marine life (whales) make it such a cool viewing opportunity! There was also a train that ran right through, and was super close. Very nice!

This was a highly recommended point recommended when searching for great views on our way to Seward. This place has some great views but I think there are multiple points on your way to Seward which are worth a stop. We visited this place in late June and I am sure this place would be even more beautiful in winter. On a lucky day, you can witness the beluga whale eating salmon here hence the name. Please remember: a) There are railway tracks near the point so be careful. There were many people there, myself included who crosse it to get a better view of the amazing mountain top. b) Also please be aware of the swamp around and avoid getting down in the mud to get a closer look at all cost since it is very dangerous and you never know the depth of these marshlands specially in the summer

It was good but not amazing. While the views were amazing, it was a bit hazy out and that affected the pictures. No marine life sightings this afternoon either. I'm sure at the right time, this is a great place to take picturesque photos and observe marine life.

A group of us were heading to Alyeska Mountain and stopped here to get some pictures of the snow capped mountains in the background across from Turnagain Arm. This gem is located right off of Seward Highway Milepost 110. They have a decent sized free parking lot and a couple of binoculars in the parking lot that I could not get to work. There is a sign that says no trespassing on an area that leads past the train tracks to some big rocks that are right on the water. There were a ton of people that ignored the sign and were down there posing on the rocks. This spot was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. It is a very picturesque spot and it is rumored that you can view Beluga Wales here during the Summer (July through August) as they feed on the Pacific salmon run, as its name implies. The only negative that I have is that the area was dirty and had a lot of trash all over the place. It really needs some attention. I also think that there are better viewing opportunities a little further down the road. The views here are still pretty good though and if you choose to go down onto the rocks, just be very careful.

I'm not a big fan of Beluga Point, but I can appreciate why tourists passing through are inclined to make a quick stop. It's a very pretty view. The Belugas are running right now with their babies so we thought we'd take a ride out to see if we could catch a glimpse. No luck... BUT we were rewarded with the best view of Dall Sheep I've had since I moved to Alaska over a decade ago. There were almost 20 frolicking at all levels, from the highest peak to levels close enough to see them without a fancy camera. Super cool!

Beautiful photo op stop surrounded by mountains and water off the Old Seward highway. A short drive from down town Anchorage. It can get a bit crowded. There is also an area to get closer to the water but our tour guide would not let us as it is a bit rocky to walk down and you have to cross over railroad track

Good place to pull off and check out Turnagain Arm. Definitely gets crowded with many people sometimes climbing everywhere for a better view. Definitely try to get there earlier, or later, than the rest of the crowds. Other than that, the views can't be beat.

Can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. For the native Alaskan, skip this place. For the tourist trying to take in as much as you can and still have a little bit of a "wild adventure," check this out. Depending on the tide, this "SUPER LARGE ROCK" or "SMALL ISLAND" can be a little challenging to access. Youthful folk, no need to worry. Shimmy on up! Elderly, old people, know your limits! In addition to the obstacle of the tide and finding a way over to the rock/island and maybe the slippery ness due to rain, there is the fact that one must cross an active railroad track. The train comes by a couple times a day. It's an ACTIVE track. Be alert, please. Great photo op. Great place to get some pics to send to your out-of-town friends about your ALASKA ADVENTURE without them knowing your car is parked 150 yards away (and that's a stretch). On a sunny day or a day with belugas in the Arm, great place. In need of a bathroom stop on the way back from Girdwood, keep driving. I think there are two trees on the whole place and one of those trees is a huge downed log in the gap between land and the "rock/island." Definitely worth the photo op!

Great views! I did not see any Beluga whales here today. There is not hiking trails here. But if you cross the road there is an area where you can climb the side of a mountains a little bit. I did not do this as I already learned my lesson with expert trails easily on this trip. LoL The view is really nice, Take some pics and move a long. I stopped at almost every one of this little stop off places. Its great to stop and smell the roses but in this case its smell the fresh mountain air! Ice capped mountains are all you can see in every direction. If the road wasn't here It would be super easy to get lost. This stop will take you about 10 min. If you are lucky and see some Whales, you may spend a bit more time here.

I dunno man, I'm kinda jaded on Beluga Point. It's just too touristy. Beluga Point Standard Operation Procedure: 1) Get out of car for 5 minutes 2) Take a picture that makes it look like you are having a "Great Alaskan Adventure!" 3) Post it to instagram to make all your followers sewwwper jealous and get them thinking you did a brutal 6 hour hike. 4) Get back in your rental car and drive back to Anchorage. The drive on the Turnigan Arm is still great, but I'd rather do a hike, a rock climb, or go take photos in Portage/Whittier instead.

Skip Beluga Point, too many people, doing things they shouldn't, which are risky to everyone's lives. You can get great views of the same area a bit farther down without the risk. Also, I went by several times and never saw Beluga.

We made a quick stop at Beluga Point on our way to Portage Glacier since it's right along the Seward Highway. We didn't time our stop to high tide when there's a higher chance to spot the belugas. Although we didn't see whales, it was still nice to get out of the car for a quick stretch and to enjoy the breeze.

A little muddy, but worth the pic.

This could've been the best accidental stopping place, I ever made. My daughter and I just saw a cool area, to stop and get the best pics and that was that. I made my husband stop the car, and we got out and walked around, climbing the rocks and getting the best pictures. I didn't have wifi at the time, so once within wifi territory, I find out it's a point of interest. I'd say, if you're going that way, or even if you're not going that way, go there! It's beautiful and serene. I promise!

I stumbled upon it…read morewhile exploring around Anchorage, and it was such a fun spot to spend some time on a beautiful sunny day. There's a large parking lot, complete with a couple of outhouses and (at least on the day I visited) a hot dog vendor, too. The parking lot sits well above the beach area, where I walked around and did plenty of people-watching before heading out to the point and the very colorfully painted structure that (maybe?) I think has something to do either with airplane or sea navigation. Surrounding the point were zillions of painted rocks. It was local art gone wild and I loved it! At regular intervals, giant jets flew over upon takeoff from the airport (which is mere yards away). If you don't like loud jets, I would not recommend this beach. But if you do, well, you've come to the right place!

Slippery clay and mud - lots of moments where I thought I might slip and fall to the ground. Definitely something to watch for. Small granulated particles sliding down the sandy hill. Crazy to see erosion in action. Just a few of the many exciting things along this walking area. Beautiful breeze off the inlet. Lots of great views of downtown Anchorage. Lots of parking available and a wonderful place to get to see a brilliant sunset. Bring a chair and a cooler!
