He suggested the Nalla Karam Dosa, which is like a black gunpowder dusted dosa, but my eyes were on the Kadapa Karam Dosa. They said that was the spiciest, so I knew I had to get that! It had a really good kick, so I definitely wouldn't recommend for the faint hearted. The dosa was cooked well and came out fresh. They served it with peanut chutney, ginger pickle (allam pachadi), and sambar, all of which were really tasty! The Karam Dosa literally reminded me of my Nellore Karam Dosa, which he mentioned all of them are pretty much the same and thought that Kadapa Karam had a nice ring to it, which I agree! The person mentioned to eat it right there, which is how anyone should be eating dosa as it never carries well for takeout. My house was nearby so it still tasted fresh, but I would definitely give it a try there itself as I'm sure it would taste a lot better. I have to say though that I've come around on Apni Mandi. It has rock bottom prices on fresh produce, as well as excellent selections of black tea, rice, legumes, beans, and of course, spices. There are also vacuum sealed, frozen, and deli counter selections available for those unused to cooking Indian food. Finally, I have to credit the store themselves for adapting to our community; there are now larger selections of common household staples, including sections with Mexican and Asian/Vietnamese foods. Still, they lack things like a butcher counter or alcoholic beverages which may be important to some shoppers, and there are some glaring omissions- I could not find any sort of canned chicken soup for example.
