I had a problem with my AC and they fixed it right away this morning. The staff is friendly and professional and I highly recommend this auto shop! read more

Fair prices and no surprises-what more can you ask for? Also, they serviced my Subaru Crosstrek in the time they said it would take, which helped with not disrupting my entire day. Thank you SM Auto. read more

Fast efficient nice owner !!!! He is quick! Great customer service! I went in for a flat he changed it fast and fair price !!!!

SM Auto is fantastic! I came in for a headlight bulb replacement, and from the time I arrived to when they started working was less than ten minutes--no appointment needed. They had the job done in under 20 minutes, which is impressive considering both the dealer and Quality Tune Up told me the same work would take at least 30 minutes, plus I'd have to leave my car for two hours. SM Auto did a great job, and they clearly respect their customers' time--something that's rare these days. On top of that, they offer a wide range of services like brakes, coolant systems, radiators, alternators, and more. Quick, professional, and efficient--highly recommended! read more

My go to spot. My gf and I have been coming to this shop for the past 5 years. Phong is a solid guy. He's honest and fair and he runs his shop the same way. He has more than once given me solid recommendations to help me know when I can get my work for free through warranty or recalls with the dealer unlike most other shops who take advantage of people for what they don't know. Not to mention this shop's pricing is super fair and they do quality work. I moved to north San Jose 3 years ago and I will still drive across town just to work with this shop because they deserve the business. And they are very accommodating because they want the business. And they work hard. So many times I've had to show up a little past closing to pick up my car due to my work schedule after they closed and they have been extremely flexible. Not only are they super patient but I've witnessed them on more than one occasion staying past closing time still working on cars to finish what they committed to despite getting busy and running behind on schedule. Much respect. I highly recommend this shop to anyone and will continue to give them business. read more

Phong is amazing. I brought in my Chevy sonic that wasn't running. Even though the car ended up not running since the engine was tanked, phong helped me with disposing it. Quick service, responsive and honest work. I found my main mechanic. read more

This is the first time that I have ever taken my truck to SM Auto and I must say that Phong is one of the most honest mechanics that I have ever met. After speaking with him about what I thought was a catalytic converter problem, he told me that I have an engine problem and that it would probably make more sense to get another truck vs. spending a lot on the necessary repairs. I have decided to take his advice and will be bringing my next truck to SM Auto when service is needed. read more

They are AMAZING!!! Ladies he is honest and gets the job done! Please get your car there soon!

Thank goodness for my friends referral to this Auto repair shop!! She raved about this place....said her whole family deals with them and they are all happy with results! This is my second "go round" with them and each of my times, I found them very experienced & most importantly.... honest & always saving me $$, when they could have overcharged me easily. I brought my sons' car in for "sensor light" problems in two areas and both were handled so well & reasonable priced!! My "frugal" son was impressed also after his verbal estimate at the dealership! Definitely get a honest job & quote from them, read more

My family has been coming here for years and we are so grateful to have found a trusted mechanic. Before these guys, we had tried just about every mechanic along that strip, until one day everyone was telling us they couldn't help us. SM Auto told us they could help us that same day and at an extremely reasonable price. Really, these guys quote about 1/2 the price you would find elsewhere and do it quicker. They really are the hardest working and most honest mechanics in that strip. At this point, we've been coming here for so many year and they know my family so well that sometimes they won't even charge for small repairs or allow us to pay the next time we come in. And actually, we trust them so much we had them come in to re-do our living room as one of the workers there has started their own contracting business. This place is truly the best you will find. Even though I live in SF now, if I am able to, I will drive all the way down to San Jose to still get my car fixed here. read more

This place awesome, they always fit me into their schedule. My girlfriend introduced me to this place, her family and her have been taking their cars here for a while now. They are reliable and do great work. I recently got my brakes changed here and they gave me a 2 hour time window on when it should be done and ended up finishing in a little over an hour. Would highly highly recommend this place. You get quick quality work, plus you are supporting a local business. The shop location is very conveniently located off highway 85 and is surrounded by lots of other automotive businesses including window tinting, tire shop, etc. read more

Called to schedule an oil change. Super easy to get one set up on my day off. I was told the oil change would take 30-40 minutes. I set a timer on my phone for 30 minutes to help me keep track of time and it was finished before my timer went off. Overall fast, efficient, and inexpensive. read more

I've been coming to this place for about 6 years or so and mainly for quick and easy smog checks. The biggest job I have gotten done is a full 200K mile tune up on an old Honda Odyssey. I dropped it off this week because of the engine light being on. After a couple of days of diagnosing the problem it turns out I need a new engine. The owner is very friendly and since I am a good customer of his he didn't want to charge me anything. I gave some cash anyway and thanked him. This is the kind of gesture that makes someone a customer for the long run. They are not out to screw anyone, they are honest and friendly. I'll continue to bring my cars here in the future. read more

I have been going to SM auto for many years, and I can't imagine going to a different auto service. If you have questions, the mechanics here give you full details about your concerns. Great customer service and reasonable prices! read more

I really do not remember how I came across this place, since I have been going there for so long. I introduced them to several others, including my daughter, for repairs. #1 criteria for me, these are very honest people who work here. #2, their work is quality in my opinion, and they stand by their work. Prices? Well if #1 and #2 are not of interest, you can shop around and compare, I don't anymore. They have always been fair. -Tom Rodarte read more

Came here about a month ago to do an oil change, they did it in under an hour. Usually I'd go the Infiniti dealer but they take almost all day to do a simple oil change. Was recommended this place by a good friend whose family has been coming here for years. They're efficient, friendly, honest, hardworking people. Not sure why on here it says the business is closed, I was worried when I saw this but drove over to the business to see if it really is closed. And the business is still up and running! Very thankful to have been recommended this auto shop! read more

5 completely deserved stars. Phong and everyone else there are great. Always prompt, always great communication. Highly recommend. He literally had my car in and out the same day. read more

These guys are life savers. I have taken my 2003 Audi TT in several times and where Steven Creek Audi could (did) not find what was wrong with my car, these guys found the issue in several minutes. Add to that the work they do is spot on and no where near what the dealership wanted to charge me! Today I had a simple job, They pre-ordered the part and was out in less than an hour. With an aging car, I know I'll need it serviced again and I will trust my car to S&M. read more

This is by far the best auto repair shop we've ever worked with. Their charge is very reasonable and very honest. I got a quote over the phone saying that it'd cost me $350 to repair the power steering hose leak. When we picked up my car, they only charged me $260 instead. We asked why the amount was lower, they explained they quoted me the wrong part. They could've charged me $350 but they didn't. We highly recommend this shop. read more

I had been a customer of my prior mechanic shop for 2 years and i always felt they were pretty honest and reasonably priced. However, after a remodel of their front office i began to notice questionable behavior. MY PRIOR SHOP CHARGED ME FOR READING THE CHECK ENGINE CODE! Thus, i went around town looking for a place. I just happened to be visiting my friend and saw this place so just walked pass this mall that had 5 mechanic shops. I asked each shop why my check engine light would go on and asked what the P401 code could mean? Every shop confirmed yes... it has something to do with exhaust and wanted to charge me again for a diagnostic... BUT the price would get deducted from the service bill should i go with their shop. I told the SM Auto guys I had ENOUGH of this BULLSHIT and someone should have some knowledge. SM said they would take care of everything for only A QUARTER OF THE ESTIMATE that my ORIGINAL mechanic quoted me... YES... that's 25%!!! and although they said they couldn't guarantee that was the problem.... they were pretty certain because they have the experience. Since I haven't brought my car for any further service... i can't say to the quality of their service... but for me, the check engine light is gone! and i got it done at a cheap price. Their paper print of the bill is NOT very descriptive. read more

Great value. Great service. I highly recommend SM Auto! I had the oil changed and new brakes done. I took my 2006 RAV4 in in the morning and got it back a few hours later. These guys are very efficient and gave me a great price. read more
