Had my car smog and got good service all went well, there was plenty of parking and everything went great

DO NOT BRING YOUR OBD1 VEHICLE TO THIS LOCATION. Came here to try and get a smog done, I have an OBD1 vehicle and was sent home 4 times all for different reasons, "the person who does it isn't here and we're too busy" etc. One of the workers specifically told me to come back Saturday morning just for them to send me away again because they "don't feel like using that machine." I've been to this location many times so I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt before this review, but ultimately I'm just really upset that they wasted my time, had they stated that from the beginning I would've just found a different place no problem. read more

I had to find a new smog check shop and decided to give happy smog check a shot. There was only one other person waiting and it didn't take long before I was able to get my smog check done. Waited maybe 10-15 minutes and that was it. The customer service was good, the check went quickly and the price was fair. I'll be back, no Arnold. read more

I called and they were able to take me in right away. Don't forget to mention Yelp discount. It took about 30 mins. They also speak Vietnamese. read more

When searching for a Star Smog station near me, I found this one near Story Rd and Capitol Expwy. Happy Smog is run by 2 technicians who are very knowledgeable and do a great job of getting you in and out quickly. No appointment is necessary, and they have ample parking in front of their unit. If you need to get your smog certificate, give them a try. read more

One of the guys seems in a bad mood, but the other guy was super nice to me. Every other place wanted to charge me even if it didn't pass they were nice enough to check my car before inspection. My friend recommended me here and it was perfect. It was 20 mins even though the had a line definitely recommend going earlier in the day. read more

I just got back from getting a smog check. I was quoted on Yelp... $40 out the door. When I arrived, the guy tried to explain its $40 for the exam and $9 for the certificate. He tried to argue with me that a certificate charge was mandatory. So how is this $40 out the door? Classic bait and switch. I was quoted by other companies where including the certificate, it was $40 or under. I would definitely shop around as there's places that do it nearby for cheaper. Not only was his attitude unwelcoming, but they should honor the quoted prices. The next time I need a smog, I'll be going elsewhere. Your business runs on customers, do better. I would skip this one. There's others on the same street. I only gave an extra star because the service was completed. read more

I requested a quote for a STAR smog check via Yelp on a Sunday when they're closed. I was surprised to receive a very fast response from a lady named Phuong. It was $40 flat, including all taxes and fees which is competitive. It was drop-in only. So I went the next morning (Monday) around 9:55am. It was easy to find. I like that there was enough parking considering a lot of auto shop parking lots tend to be super cramped. There was an older gentleman who greeted me. His English isn't the best but it wasn't a problem! He was nice and helpful. I was in a rush to make it to another appointment, so I requested we be done by 10:30am-10:40am at the latest, otherwise I'd have to come back later. He did his best to accommodate me despite there being two cars ahead of me. He kept me posted on timing which was nice. There was another gentleman doing the smog checks. Together, they both gave clear instructions on where to park, opening windows (for ventilation during COVID I imagine), etc. I pulled up at 10:30am and we were done with the check and payment by 10:40am - right on time!! Just make sure to mention Yelp, otherwise they will quote you a higher price. Overall, great service! read more

Happy Smog Check - After waiting a bit, smog check took just 10 minutes. - Smog Check Stations Near Me - San Jose, California

Charged me $70 for a smog check. Feel ripped off, any other place would be cheaper. Shady people

The gentlemen that work here are so nice! They tell you exactly how to park your car when you get a smog. Aside from that, I was in and out in 10 minutes! Can you believe that?! The old place I used to go to would get so busy that i would need to go right when they opened. There's no need for that here! Came here on a Monday afternoon, no wait. (Idk if it's because of the pandemic or because it was just the day of the week). Total cost is $49 after tax-can't beat that! This place just might have to be my go-to smog spot! Support small businesses! read more

Bit pricey but it was convenient (not far from me), easy entrance / exit and parking (which is a struggle at most other SMOG places due to shared lots wither other mechanics), and super fast. So overall it was worth the price for me. I will come back! read more

Great customer service from start to finish. I will return next time and recommend you to get a quote and then mention Yelp so it's honored. My smog passed Yaay! read more

I've been here 3 times now for smog tests in the past year or so, and these guys/gals are awesome! It is located right off of Story Rd. and Capital Expressway, so it is very easy to find. The lady that typically answers the phone and handles all the paperwork is very friendly. I called around to see what the lowest rate was, and she gladly matched what I quoted her on the phone. The prices I paid each of my visits were much lower than their advertised pricing. That said, do your homework, call before making an appointment, and agree on price before you show up. Conclusion: I'm 3 for 3, and they have managed to get me in and out of there in less than 20 minutes! Great service and great rates! BOOYAO!!! "I'LL BE BACK!" read more

Quick and to the point. Tech was not busy when I showed up. Saw me pull up, came out and greeted me. And did the smog check. Not much else to say. Price is inline with most local smog check spots so I wouldn't say this place stands out in any way. Unfortunately no coupons for this place so paid full price but I had a good experience since I passed my smog haha. read more

There is practically no customer service here. They instructed me to move my car around the lot multiple times and roll down all windows (because it was hot). When I was finally next, they had me line up my car facing the wrong direction of the one way parking lot. During the actual SMOG, they made me open the hood and fuel cap. Despite this service was slow. I had plenty of time to watch them clap their hands at customers who could not understand their ambiguous instructions. read more

Fast response to my inquiry for a quote. Good price at $40 including certificate. But had to mention the quote I got in Yelp or the price would be $60. Smog check was done and passed in about 20 minutes. read more

I called and asked for a quote. I was told $40 out the door. After reading a couple of reviews regarding the cost, I got a Yelp quote, which was $49. I replied that I would pay $40 out the door, even though I could get it slightly cheaper elsewhere (that was a true statement). They agreed to the $40. When I got there, a couple of cars were ahead of me, but the wait was not long. Two guys working there, and they got all of us in and out quickly. The total cost was $40 out the door. Just a tip: Sources say they are open until 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM. I called and was told they were open until 5:30 PM. I would call if I were you, just to be sure. read more

Pretty good service. The entire smog check (passed), took roughly 20min from "check-in" to driving off the lot. The minus one star is for the service. I was quoted $40 out-the-door pricing, but the man wanted to charge me $40 for the smog check, than an additional $8.25 for the certificate to be sent to the DMV... After some talking, got it for the original $40 out-the-door I was quoted in the yelp messages. Overall, would recommend. Fast and on the cheaper side! read more

Me and my family come here to smog our cars often. They do this all day long, so their fast. Price is fair.

Nice place to bring your car for a smog check around East foothills. The owner is very helpful and give some tips if your car would not pass smog check. Normally you can grab a coupon and it would cost something around $40 with free retest which is pretty good price for a smog check only. I highly recommend this place. Normally it's hard to find a good service around East San Jose but this place is trustful, the owner is very careful with cars and courteous. I was very satisfied last time I've been there and would not hesitate to bring my Porsche again. Test normally takes about 20-30 minutes, there is an office where you can wait. Normally there are not many cars waiting in line, maybe one or two. read more
