This is more of a HEADS UP than a review. I had to experience it in order to understand it. Let me…read moreexplain.... First, I'm NOT a "member". I went here for the Thanksgiving Brunch. Prior to this, I normally Thanksgiving Brunch at the Gaylord Texan each year. Their brunch is $100+ per person and I wanted to give the Constellation Club a try. PRIOR TO GOING: I made reservations over the phone. No credit card needed. Dress code expectation is business casual/ Sunday's Best. I was also told they validate parking. THE LOCATION: Easily found in the Irving/ Las Colinas area in the tallest building there. You'll know you found it because of the Mustangs statues in the front. Quick hint... valet is in the rear of the building. I parked in the garage area and took my ticket with me... to get validated. The club is on the 26th floor. Security is there to make sure you go to the right elevators. THE PLACE: Coming off the elevators (26th floor), you're greeted by folks at a table. The place has very modern decor and nice views of the city. On a clear day, you can see downtown Dallas, Arlington, and downtown Fort Worth. If you really know your city, you can see the 635/75 area and City Line in the distance. Great spot for taking selfies or taking in nice views. Anyways... Someone pulls your reservation. I was asked to pay ahead of time. Four people at $60 a piece, I paid a little over $300. Apparently there was a service charge that I wasn't told about over the phone. I ask about parking validation and was told that it was for members only. After some back and forth and back and forth and even more back and forth, they made an exception and validated my parking. Keep in mind, I was told they were validating parking for Thanksgiving (over the phone). I'm big on accountability. The gratuity was technically included but you get the option to tip additional. I would have tipped additional had there not been a service charge. The way I see it, if I can be surprised about a service charge, they can be surprised that I wasn't spending additional money. To me, the service charge was their tip. THE FOOD: After finding a seat (you sit anywhere), you go to the brunch buffet. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Scrambled eggs that look like they were made with powder. Bacon, apple sausage, mashed potatoes, vegetables, salad, ham, turkey, and bland chicken wings. There was a separate room for deserts.... pecan pie, pumpkin pie, cookies, etc. Overall, the bacon, mashed potatoes, and turkey were winners. Everything else was either bland or average. STAFF: The wait staff were friendly and very attentive to our needs. OVERALL: It was a decent experience I did ONE TIME. It was also cool to find out what was in that tall building that I'd always drive by. WAS IT WORTH $60 ($300 for four people)? NO. Absolutely not. You have to keep in mind that besides the food (which was nothing to write home about), and the views of the city, there's nothing else to do. You're there to eat and leave. It's Thanksgiving and the area is a ghost town. It's not like you can take a walk and get into another activity. Coming full circle, this is why I mentioned the Gaylord Texan as a measuring bar. The Gaylord Texan validates parking if you eat the Thanksgiving brunch. You don't have to be a member. You can walk the resort and appreciate the decor... or participate in other activities. It's festive. Yes, the Gaylord is $100 per person but the food options are endless and taste amazing. I wouldn't do the Constellation Club again. I certainly didn't see the value in joining as a member. Definitely a one-time experience for me. I recommend going there for a drink (if they'll allow it) and checking out the views of DFW. If they want to keep it exclusive, let them have fun with that. It's not worth it.

The building looks like something you might see in Cape Cod or Coastal Maine - as I find the buildings in both places charming. This coffee house is all wood and painted white. I booked the carriage room for 3 hours and came with understated decor that complimented my party. I also brought my own cake. The food catered from them was delicious and honestly made the event perfect. And Jillian was our point person for our event was spectacular! My event was everything I hoped it would be, and better. It also has a little known coffee shop called Over The Counter that is a nice hole-in-the-wall that is a perfect place to grab a nice cup of coffee and view of Lake Caroyln. This review is for Over The Counter. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Coffee, Return) Atmosphere - You'll find Over The Counter to the right of the check-in desk within the Omni Hotel. This coffee shop is a hidden gem because of the amazing views of Lake Carolyn and the Omni Hotel pool. This is a great spot if you're looking for a place to work while waiting for your Uber to head to the airport. The seats against the window have power outlets to charge your devices. It's quiet, not to busy, and even if you're not staying at the Omni Hotel a great place to grab a cup of coffee. Service - The Omni Hotel staff is very nice. Like most coffee shops, you'll place your order, customize it, and a barista will expertly craft your cup of coffee. On my visit, they asked what kind of milk I wanted (2%), and when I needed help with the Wi-Fi, they were super helpful in getting me online. 1 Star. Coffee - The coffee is nice and strong. My iced latte was smooth and had me buzzing. I had to sip it to ensure I prep for my meeting. I can't stress how awesome it is to enjoy a dup of coffee in a nice setting with an amazing view. My only minor feedback is that Over The Counter is in a the Omni Hotel, so expect to pay a little extra. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. Now that I've discovered Over the Counter, I can imagine myself coming here on occasion to do work or conduct professional meetings. If you're staying at the Omni Hotel in Las Colinas, you should stop by. 1 Star.

They have a pretty good selection of beers and of liquors (I presume wine, too, but I didn't check). While there are "bourbon bars" with a wider bourbon selection or "gin bars" with a wider gin selection, they have an above average selection of each, and they don't charge absurd up charges for choosing the liquor you like. The bartender is very polite. There's ample seating at the bar, and you can also take your drink to some loungy-er chairs in the nearby part of the hotel lobby. All in all, a solid bar.

You walk in and the bar is to your right. It was about 6 and no one was at the bar. There was a group of guys discussing something over drinks in the lounge area but that was about it. The bartender came right up to my boyfriend and I. I told the bartender my boyfriend had never been to Texas so we tried out essentially every tap by sampling which was nice that he offered that up. After we tried each beer we decided on some options. The bartender went back to texting in the corner and we sat at the bar listening to the music playing in the open concept lobby/bar area We eventually took over the seating area that group was in because the couches looked more cozy than the bar. The happy hour advertised is not a thing anymore, they now have reverse happy hour from 9-10. The beers weren't too expensive as our tab was only $13 which I doable. The bartender disappeared from the bar for a fair amount of time which made me anxious because I used to be a bartender, I guess he trusted we wouldn't leave without paying. He didnt come check on us to see if we needed another beer but that was ok I guess. I went back up to the bar to cash out and that was that. This bar is good for a quick drink but I wouldn't probably go for a top notch bar experience.

However the bathroom sinks may just be an elaborate prank pulled on every guest of this hotel. There are many photos already on here, but the pictures don't do it justice. The sink is approximately 7" x 12", and has a mirror jutting out over a portion of it, leaving you with roughly 4-5" of functional sink space. This will be the smallest sink you've ever used in your life (and I've spent lots of time in NYC and Chicago, where I've used some very small sinks). Need to wash your hands? You're getting water on your feet. Shave? Better wear a bathing suit. Wash your face? A wetsuit is recommended. Accidentally turn the water on too high when doing any of the above?
