Great beer and BEST pizza I've ever tried in Oregon. Service was friendly and efficient! Awesome patio space for summertime as well.

** Closing Business Alert** I feel like I need to bump up…read morethe que for this brewery experience as when we went there this past weekend we were told that the brewery was going to permanently close in a few days. I believe October 31st is that day when that is going to happen so I figured it was time to get a review in and anybody that may have an interest in going by reading my review and has the ability to go they should probably do it in the very near future. We had two different beers here and they were solid. We didn't feel like that this was the best brewery in Forest Grove but if you are doing a brewery tour in town it is indeed worth the stop. The location is cool as it's right downtown and what looks like to be in a historic building so it will be sad that it will become vacant. But we were told that it was landlord issues as the rent that was going to be charged should they continue to stay would have been unreasonable. Well, now onto the beer. The first beer we had was a Japanese Rice Lager known as the Wakizashi Lager. It was good but we have had more memorable ones in the recent past so it wasn't the best we have had by any means . But no complaints with it. It was just our preference with the flavor profile layout. Flavor highlights with it are floral, sweet, crisp and a light rice flavor. It was also a very light bodied beer. The other beer we had was the Jormungandr which was a red ale. This one was good too. Again not as memorable as it could be but nothing to specifically complain about. Flavor features with this are caramel, malty and sweet. The body of the beer is nice and smooth which was nice and pleasant. Sad to see another brewery close but there are a few others to visit in Forest Grove so it isn't deprived completely of craft breweries in town.

Personal favorite is the Helvetia Son of Peach. Food order took 30 minutes but for a Saturday we didn't think that was too long. Pool table, foosball, ping pong, and other games on hand to play. Ordered the vegetarian burger first 3 bites were bun, a little pasty I think the patty as too fat, flatten it a bit and it would be fine. Delicious sweet potato fries. A local favorite!

Loved their tiny place when they first started, but watching how it's grown and is thriving speaks to the owner's hard work and vision. It's an extremely welcoming place (even for dogs). It feels like a lot of thought and care has been put into blending "small town favorites" with higher end cuisine. We have liked most everything we've had there. Service is wonderful, smiles all around and a genuine care about the customers experience can be felt. We have yet to attend a game night, although definitely looking forward to it. Good food, good beer (even gluten free options in a can available!) good times. Looking forward to the continued growth in the community.

HUGE fan of this brewery! This was one of the first places we stopped in and we actually went back several times to the point where the staff knew we were the Vegas people haha. At first we did their beer flights. And we also got the burger and fries, too, to eat. Their food is OUTSTANDING! And their beer is even better!!! I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. And honestly, this beer was incredible. Literally every beer I tried was so good. A few times we came in we sat at the bar and chatted with some of the employees who were soooo nice. They have games, too, so we played some trivia and uno and it was a lot of fun. We seriously had the best time here. The owner even chatted with us a bit and he was so nice, too. One night they even had some guys out front smoking some meats and we struck up a convo with them, too. Honestly, the people in this town are so friendly. Especially the people that work here. They're SO kind. Definitely would frequent this spot if I lived here. But again, we had sooo much fun here and I highly recommend checking out this place.

I'll start this review off by saying that I love Cathlamet. It's a quaint little historic town…read morewith a rich history and really nice people. I've been visiting here a dozen times a year for four decades. There are a few eateries here. Many seem to come and go although there are a couple that have survived the test of time. RM38 is a newcomer... used to be in a small building with VERY limited hours. I gather their main biz was brewing craft beer for a very small clientele of businesses and the "saloon" was mostly a side hustle to help pay the rent. So I see they moved into new digs down at the marina. I won't take off any stars for the following since this seems to be their new business model: Offering uber-expensive, skimpy portions of not especially tasty food targeted to yuppies who have more money than brains. Suffice to say that you won't see many Bikers hanging out here. The good: Their patio has a nice river view and a pleasant breeze. Sitting out there enjoying a cold one on a hot Summer day is very pleasant. And during the Fall too so long as it's not raining. People complain about the lack of parking which is not an issue when you show up on a motorcycle. But there are LOTS of places to park although you may have to walk a few yards... you poor darlings. Staff is less than amazing but they are always courteous towards me. I suppose I am no more their dream customer than they are my dream hangout. But Bikers tend to be very generous tippers so they might want to keep that in mind. There's one long-established watering hole in Cathlamet but it's a dark, indoor venue. I like it there and it's more of a dive bar with very good food. The thing about Cathlamet is that if you are just an occasional visitor you have many options of where to stop for a meal and/or drink and never get bored. There's also a few good places at the other end of the ferry ride in Westport, Oregon. Hard to say how long RM38 will stay in business. I'm actually surprised that they lasted in their original location for so long considering that they were only open for a few hours during the weekend. It would be great if they quit pretending to be an upscale eatery and instead focused on providing a good value, tasty, filling meal for the money. Again, no minus stars for that but until new management comes along and makes some changes it will just be a pint or two for me and i'm on my way. Of course as always YMMV.

As a self proclaimed clam chowder connoisseur I take the hunt for delicious clam chowder throughout…read morethe PNW coastal area very seriously. Each beach town my husband I travel to, I spend far too much time reading reviews about clam chowder. If only I spent as much energy in other areas of my life as I do "internet-researching" clam chowder, who knows what I could accomplish. I must say that the clam chowder at Werner Beef & Brew is exactly what I have been hunting for. It is the perfect texture and consistency. It has a spectacular balance of clam to potato ratio, and the potatoes are cooked to perfection. They don't have too much bite, nor do they disintegrate into mush the moment they enter your mouth. The chowder itself was worth traveling from Rockaway to Tillamook for. It was even worth a more industrial view vs. an establishment with a more coastal and picturesque backdrop. The salad bar was on point. The variety of salad add-ins, dressings, and topping crunchy-bits were epic. It was a nice balance to the very rich perfect chowder I am already missing. I miss it. I miss the chowder. My husband also got the fish tacos, based on others' reviews and enjoyed every bite. I enjoyed their Dragon Fruit Cider, and he ordered one of their Meaty Bloody Mary's. If you are on the fence if you should order one, you should. You should get that bloody mary. The bloody mary then led us to purchase some of their salami and bologna. It was an elevated version of the sandwich meat my grandpa used with white bread, yellow mustard (off-brand), ice burg lettuce, and a slice of cheddar cheese. Mid-life has me craving nostalgia. It might be the hormone imbalance, but salami white bread sandwiches, here I come.
