The smoker out front, must have 2 or more because I smelled smoke but this one is not smoking
    Steven T.

This has been a long time bookmark of mine so I thought that I would get if off the books today for lunch. My BBQ experience tells me if you smell smoke 90 % of the time it's going to be good and I smell smoke in the parking lot. The building looks over a hundred years old with a nice small bar as you walk in with a tin ceiling. They have a small dining room with stone walls which just screams old. My service was great from the young woman who took care of me and she got a 34% tip, they were slow when I was there and she did a great job. They have two of my favorite foods baked French onion soup and smoked ribs. I started with a whiskey old fashioned sour which was decent. I ordered the full rack with Mac and Cheese and frys as my second side. I started with the baked French onion soup that looked amazing presentation wise. It was hot and cheesy with a decent amount of cheese, croutons and onions but very average because the broth had no depth of flavor at all. My food came pretty quick and it looked delicious. The frys were not seasoned and not cooked to order or sat to long because they had no crisp in them and they were not hot at all. The Mac and Cheese looked creamy with spiral pasts cooked past Al Dente but not to total mush and very average again with no big cheese flavor like it's made for the masses, Mac and Cheese needs bold flavors like aged/sharp to offset the bland macaroni in my opinion. The ribs on the other hand were very good and the star of my lunch. The ribs are always naked sauce on the side so I can taste how good or bad they are. The sauce was ok but I didn't use much of it because the naked ribs can hold their own. The ribs were tasty and seasoned nicely fall off the bone tender/moist with a good smoke flavor and better than average. I'm a BBQ hound and I get Bbq all over the country and I have seen this so many times and it's just part of Bbq which doesn't necessarily affect the review. Lots of Bbq places have really great meats and average sides which is ok in my opinion because I'm there for the smoked meat. Overall I enjoyed my Bbq rib lunch and I'm very glad that they were my new restaurant of the week so I would definitely go back the smoked meats.

I called ahead as my mom uses a walker and I wanted to be sure she could get into the restaurant. There's only one step in front and there is a path/ramp under the tent on the side. I was assured she could access the restaurant- not only that, they would set a table for 3 for us! When we arrived, the hostess and bartender met us at the front door and helped us in! Great customer service and we were off to a fabulous start! The food was delicious, we had pulled pork, sloppy Joe sandwich, and a tuna melt. Started off our dinner with onion strings and these were a generous portion. In fact, all of us had leftovers to take home! This day the restaurant had a fundraiser for a great cause, all proceeds from the carrot cake went to the cause. Omg, they should add the carrot cake to the menu- delicious! Thank you for your hospitality, kindness, we will return!

    Great gathering space!

Great place to host a celebration! Food and service was fantastic for our large party. Zach did a superior job managing it all!

After a shopping trip to Cabela's, we searched the Yelp app and Sloppy Joe's seemed the most promising in the immediate area, and we enjoyed it! Multiple staff were welcoming, friendly. We chose dining area seating, although the bar area seemed friendly, and highly engaged in a Packer game on one of their many TVs. We went with the sloppy joe with tots and the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries. I think only later did the waitress tell us about them being known for their brisket. (I coulda had a V8!) The pulled pork was great! The sauce was unique, and the sweet potato crinkle fries were out of this world. Their namesake sandwich was just okay- green peppers, mild seasoning, no sauce- I like a saucy sloppy joe. We really enjoyed our visit, and want to come back while in the area for that brisket. This seems like a welcoming bar and place to hang for Packer games, and more.

I got the Manhattan off their specialty menu and my husband got their autumn barrel Manhattan. After trying both--highly recommend the one off their specialty menu. It was definitely superior quality. It's served over a block of ice so if you want it up, you may want to mention that when ordering. It tasted more like a classic old fashioned than a Manhattan but I'm not complaining because I love classic bourbon old fashioned cocktails as well. For a starter we got their much raved about bang bang shrimp. It came on a bed of greens and was good! For my dinner I got their seasonal chicken and dumpling soup and a side salad. Both were solid. The salad was definitely more ample than I was expecting. My husband got some sort of salmon alfredo pasta dish that came with roasted asparagus mixed in. I had a bite and he ordered well--it was decadently buttery and delicious. The service was super kind throughout our stay. Our server checked in on us regularly without being overbearing. Get to it!

First time here…read more Food: It was a Friday evening, around 8:00, and we decided to try some of the fish specials. I ordered the Pan-Seared Walleye, and she chose the Lake Perch Fry. Since our entrées included access to the salad bar, we started there. The appearance of the salad bar was disappointing. I realize it was later in the evening, but there were literally salad bar fixings all over the place. Some items were mixed together, some had spilled onto the enclosure, and there was food on the floor as well. Much of what was offered looked like it had come straight out of a can. The walleye wasn't bad. However, the mixed vegetables were a pile of mush, and although I had requested the potato pancake be extra crispy, it was still undercooked in the middle. The perch fry was okay, but nothing special. For dessert, she ordered the Brandy Alexander, and I had the LemonBerry Cake. The Brandy Alexander was very good, while the LemonBerry Cake was mediocre. Service: Our server did a nice job getting us settled in. Water and drinks arrived promptly, and they were friendly and pleasant throughout the evening. However, they became involved in a lengthy conversation at another table, so getting our check took quite a while. Atmosphere: To be honest, the place looks a bit run-down and could probably benefit from some TLC. Since it was later in the evening, there weren't many other diners, and the restaurant was relatively quiet. The view of the lake through the windows is spectacular and makes it a great place to watch the sunset. I wish the food had been better. Unfortunately, this isn't a place we are likely to return to.

The bartender was friendly and conversational, yet kept his distance when not needed! The Old Fashioned menu was large, with unique spins on the classic Brandy-forward drink in this neck of the woods! I went with the Haunted Brothel, which had a lovely nuance of chamomile tea and ginger beer to give it a distinct taste! I'd absolutely go back to try another one of the many offerings on the menu!

They have a robust old fashioned menu--all made the Wisconsin style. We ordered the barrel aged old fashioned and asked if it could be made in the classic style (and specified without soda). Our server said, 'of course!' Annnnnd--then we got our drinks and they were both Wisconsin style. Not a huge deal and we did enjoy but a word of warning to those who favor a classic old fashioned with no wash--might have a hard time with that here. For our second cocktail, we got Manhattans which were better! For an appetizer, we were waffling between the spinach artichoke dip and the brussels sprouts. Our server recommended the spinach artichoke dip so we went with that. The dip was flavorful and the tortilla chips are house made. It was good! For my main, I got their eggplant parm, which was ample, saucy, and served on a bed of pasta. I definitely couldn't eat it all in one sitting. It was delicious. Our server was attentive and the prices are reasonable. Get to it!
