I had not ridden a motocross bike since 1989, and at 60 years old, I decided I wanted to get back into riding. I knew the sport had evolved and felt I needed proper training before jumping back in -- and I'm really glad I made that decision. I quickly discovered that not only have dirt bikes changed dramatically over the years, but riding technique and body positioning have completely evolved as well. In many ways, it felt like starting over -- and that's where Gavin truly made the difference. Gavin was the trainer who worked with me, and his instruction was outstanding. He patiently and clearly taught me proper riding form, cornering technique, jump approach, throttle control, and overall bike positioning. The way he explained things made everything click. Honestly, I only wish I had learned these techniques back in the 1970s and 1980s -- I would have been a much better rider. The owner, Sean Lipanovich, and trainer Gavin, are both great guys. I genuinely enjoyed spending time with them -- professional, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. That kind of atmosphere makes a huge difference, especially when you're learning. What really sets SLMX apart is that the support didn't stop after the lessons. Even now, Gavin continues to be a great resource for me, and I often reach out to him with questions. That kind of ongoing support says a lot about their commitment to riders. I highly recommend SLMX Motocross School to anyone considering motocross training -- whether you're brand new, returning after decades like I was, or looking to improve your skills the right way. I would do just about anything to get my 16-year old son away from PC games. For months, my boy had been nagging me to look into dirt bike training lessons for him. Finally, I caved and started calling around. (Note: It's not very easy to find lessons for people under 18!) Another for riding school for adults in the area had recommended me to Sean. Sean was very professional and helped walk me through the process of signing my son up. I felt prepared for the day to come! (Side note: you will need to pay a vehicle entry fee if you are going to the Lake Elsinore track.) Sean paired my son up with Dayton Briggs, who at just a year older than my son, had about 13-14 years of experience. He was really good with my son! He was very funny and patient and broke everything down easily and used techniques to keep my son safe at all times. By the end of the session, my son was on a manual-clutch dirt bike riding around and having the time of his life! This was awesome to witness, especially because my son had never ridden anything but a bicycle in his life! This was a true testament to the skill level of the trainer, Dayton, who was able to bring the best out in my son. Thanks for giving us a fun weekend to remember! read more

If you are thinking of bettering your MX skills this is a great place to start.. Coach Thomas Dunn is a young racer who has taken his passion and skill for the sport and has brought it to Slmx. I'm in my 40's and was skeptical of being coached thinking what if they want to change something I'm comfortable with my riding style or Just flat out thinking ..yeah I don't need this.. That was not the case Thomas showed me a couple things right off the bat with my stance, hand placement, watched as I did my warm up laps and gave me a couple more pointers to focus on with body posture and foot placement.. Then we got into the actual coaching. Thomas asked me what I wanted to focus on mostly and we spent the rest of our time going over and over and breaking down everything on tight turns , when and where to brake, where and what to look for, throttle control, when and where to sit or stand, seat and leg position, entering and exiting speed and after that how to get through the next Whoop section faster and smoother... I can go on and on, all I know is I have weeks of material to practice which makes me look forward to going riding and improving.... Thomas see you again in a few weeks..Thank you!! read more

Best day ever! We booked a one-on-one instructor session for our 15 yo son, novice to dirtbiking. We had Todd as our instructor and we couldn't be more pleased. The website and booking app were easy to use, as was payment. Sean was prompt, communicative, and detailed in his answers to our questions and explanations. We had never been to the track and Sean's instructions were clear and made our morning easy. Todd is an excellent teacher. My husband and I are both educators. It is one thing to be a subject matter expert (expert at motorcross) but it takes a special gift to be able to explain how that works to another person. Todd is kind, warm, professional, patient, and provides fantastic explanations to help his students start riding right away, learn gear shifting, acceleration, turns, how to stop, how to fall (if needed) and recover, how to start the bike again when it stalls, and how to help the learner move from beginning to feeling confident on the track. We were impressed with the entire experience. I highly recommend and we will definitely be booking more time with SLMX and Todd again. read more

I am a 62 year-old woman just coming out of a collarbone surgery. I was really scared to go back on my bike after the surgery and was doubtful if I could ever ride my bike. I contacted SLMX and made an appointment for a training. The trainer was very patient with me and understood my apprehension and needs. By the end of the day, I have improved so much on my riding and built some confidence back. I had so much fun. My grandson trained at the same time but his riding level was a lot higher so a different trainer trained at another track. He was nervous about training but at the end of the day, he was so happy about the training that he feels his skills improved tremendously. I had previously had another grandson train by SLMX. His skill level went up from novice to intermediate within months of training. SLMX does not limit their training because of age, skill levels, nor gender. They will treat us fairly, listen to our needs and goals, and work with us to improve riding skills and safety of one of the most dangerous sports. I would recommend training with SLMX without any reservation. read more

Just moved to SoCal from Boston and couldn't have asked for a better experience with SLMX. I have done two lessons now, one with trainer Thomas who was excellent! Not only is he fast but his mx experience and coaching skills had me seeing results instantly, working on body position and keeping my head in front of the bars. My second lesson was with Sean, one of the best in the game. Sean's coaching and tips were excellent and his dedication to his customers is unmatched, pushing me to push myself in a safe and fun manner. SLMX bikes and gear are state of the art and well maintained by the team, offering the newest models. Couldn't have asked for a better experience, bike and coaching staff and can't wait to get back out there soon. I would recommend SLMX to anyone and any skill level! read more

We came all the way from Hawaii for our son to have his first experience riding on a dirt bike track. Ray was our coach and he was totally awesome. My son has only been riding for six months and Ray was very patient with his skill level. Throughout the day my son's skill level progressed and he became confident on the track. We definitely recommend SLMx school, we drove over an hour from where we were staying and we were happy to hear that the lady at the track informed us that Ray was already waiting for us, even though we were early. Milestone track was just a perfect recommendation and thank them for there support and encouragement to help my son to step up his ridding skills. We will definitely be back again when we have our next trip to Cali. read more

Where do I even begin? I had the best experience with SLMX!!! Right from the get go Sean was so helpful, informative and flexible with setting up our day and time. My son and I went out yesterday and spent the morning with Tyler. He was so patient and great with my son (and me) as he showed him the ropes! My son definitely kept him busy as he was eating a lot of dirt on the track! Tyler was always quick to jump, get out there and make sure he was alright. I had a ton of questions for Tyler and he was so wonderful with answering each one. I am so grateful to Sean and Tyler for the experience...I highly recommend SLMX for anyone looking to get on a dirtbike. We will definitely be back! read more

Sean is quick To respond when contacted with all necessary info. He communicates well to relieve any uncertainty. Staff are supportive to new riders, Giving them confidence and encouragement every step of the way! Our coach Thomas rode alongside my son all afternoon, sped up his bike when ready and let him venture to a more difficult track when he felt my son was ready. He was conscientious about bathroom and water breaks and offered reassurance when my son fell. Thomas even went out of his way by stopping to help another young rider who had fallen on the track and answered another mother's question about her young daughters ride. Great experience once again!!! read more

My two sons (13 &11 yrs old) had their first lesson out at Pala Fox Raceway this past weekend. They were very fortunate to get Thomas as their coach / instructor. He was very professional and safety oriented but also super easy for my boys to communicate with. He taught them a lot in a few short hours. Everything from body positioning, how to pick your lines, acceleration and braking, maneuvering, etc. On top of that Thomas helped with some mechanical issues and getting their bikes to run better. This was absolutely money well spent. We will be booking another session with SLMX soon. My sons loved every minute of it!! read more

I just rode with instructor Todd at Perris State Fair. It was the first time I rode on a track, and I was extremely impressed with SLMX. When I arrived they were set up and the bike I rented was gassed up and ready to go in new, perfect shape - a built out KTM 450. I was most impressed with Todd as an instructor. As a total novice , Todd was patient , helpful, extremely helpful in preparing me to ride the track for the first time. He was very attentive and gave me things to work on that really improved my all around riding. All in all it was great day and I would recommend SLMX to Novices and advanced riders alike! read more

You won't regret it... PS MY boy was so helpful and great to us man I had to leave this school a review on ever forum because everybody needs to RENT DIRTBIKES HERE AND request my boy Todd read more

Rented a sweeeet 2021 ktm 450 and got the chance to ride glen helen thanks to this rental service. I was skeptical to rent a bike wondering if it would be clapped out with tons of hours on it but The bike was awesome. Didn't have many hours on it at all and was set up real nice. Thing was dialed. The owner sean was a super chill and friendly dude, he had tools drinks and snacks available as well. Also if he happens to be riding the day you rent and you wanna try to chase him down good luck cause he rips lol. Overall it was an awesome experience and a helluva time. 10/10 recommend renting from here you won't regret it. read more

I have wanted to get better at my motocross skills for some time now and don't have enough time to dedicate consistently to make the improvements I want. I booked a 1:1 lesson after reading previous reviews and it is hands down one of the best decisions I have made. Sean is super responsive to any inquiries and after just one session with Brian, I could feel and see the big difference in my lap times without trying to ride faster. This was a phenomenal experience from the get go and I will be booking more sessions with SLMX school in the immediate future. You WILL be thankful signing up to learn from them! read more

Got back into riding after 35 years ! I'm 50 now, Sean has spent so much time making sure I am safe and pointed in the right direction. SLMX has been the most COST EFFECTIVE DECISION I have made in Motorsports, I have gotten better every lesson and after 2 months I share that my dream was to race a beginner race. Sean trained me focusing on safety and results. Within 3 months I won a beginner race and placed second in a novice race !!!! Far beyond what I ever expected. Sean has become my physical training coach as well I cannot express the gratitude I have for him and his staff. Thank you Sean read more

I was referred to SLMX school by Kris Keefer after reaching out for lessons prior to a Supercross Futures event. I race 30+ A and wanted to find someone that had I could ride with as well as get some pointers. SLMX School not only provided a rider/coach that was extremely talented on a dirt bike, but also had an incredible way of articulating what I needed to do to improve. From the moment meeting him at the track, he was professional and very focused on improving my skills. I will be using SLMX school again in the very near future. read more

I trained with Dayton from SLMX at Perris Raceway. I had a great experience and learned a ton! This time out we mostly focused on inside ruts. I was very inconsistent in the ruts we chose to focus on, so he would tell me what I did right, and what I did wrong and how to adjust. I also really like his style on the bike, so he would hit the same rut and show me exactly how he does it which was very helpful to see where he sits, when he starts getting on the gas, and where he is wide open. read more

We highly recommend SLMX school! Sean was so helpful and friendly on the phone. Todd was our sons trainer and he was so wonderful! Our son has been racing GP/desert/MX/minicross and trying to decide which series to focus on in 2022. Todd was so engaged in the sessions and taught our son so much. The experience was enveloped better then we had hoped for. Wish we would have taken our son to them prior to starting to race. Even though we live over 3 1/2 hours away- we will be back! read more

I would recommend this school. Great group of instructors. They were very patient and helpful. Very kind and respectful.and professional. The young men did an amazing job teaching my kids the proper way to use the bikes. Sean, Dayton and Tyler were great guys. Sean made it possible for my daughter to have a great day on her 15th birthday event and Dayton and Tyler made it possible for the kids to really enjoy themselves and be safe. Would try them again in the future. Irene read more
