When you have a dog it can be hard to find a beach to take them to and spend time not worrying…read moreabout other dogs or keeping them on a tight leash or just enjoying yourself, but I think we found the perfect spot for any dog that loves the water! This area is actually across the parking lot from the boat ramp, but it has its own parking meter (with plenty of parking) and ramp to get onto the sand! You'll know you're in the right area when you see the boat that has been brought ashore by the hurricanes. The actual boat ramp has plenty of parking, fish cleaning stations, areas to fish, and a public restroom! I highly suggest checking this place out because it has plenty of space and greenery to separate any other animals that may also be there! It does say on the sign that dog have to stay leashed, but we were able to let our dog run free because no one else was there for the majority of the time. We did see 3 other dogs for brief moments while we played with a ball and seashells! If you do come I highly recommend an extra long lead for you dog so you don't have to keep them closer but so they can play freely! It is also a great place to get on a paddle board or kayak as you can just walk right up to the water and it's clear enough to put your board in and stand/sit on it! Overall I believe this is a hidden gem that I'd love to keep that way, but I'd love my fellow yelpers to also have a place to go!

If you need a great place to launch your boat into the Intercostal Waterway, the Belleair Causeway…read moreBoat Ramp Park is an ideal location. It's located at 3900 W. Bay Dr., just off Belleair Bluffs. This Pinellas County public park has 24 hour access with 108 boat trailer parking spaces, 98 car parking spaces, a fishing pier, five courtesy docks and 10 boat launches. There's also Belleair Bait & Tackle Co. for any sundries that you may need, a fishing pier, restrooms and a dog park/beach. The dog beach is along the south side of the park which is a hold over from before this park was last developed. FYI, your dog needs to be on a leash. Overall, this is a large public boat launch that's: 1) In an ideal location, 2) Clean and well kept, and 3) An awesome place just to hang out and fish or walk your pooch.

The second day was calm and warm and we didn't stop catching fish all day. Fantastic all round and a nice and honorable guy too.

I was a group of six persons that I barely knew. By the end of the day, I had made some nice friends, including the Captain. The Captain worked tirelessly to put us on fish, when it seemed like the fish didn't want to be caught. He was and is very knowledgeable of the waters and the types of fish that were caught and what overall regulations of Florida regulations are up to the moment. Captain Randy made us all feel very secure and safe. His 40' charter boat easily handled the six of us with room to spare. Our group was completely satisfied with our catches of the day, but Captain Randy kept wanting to keep moving to different spots so we could increase our catch. We finally had to say "uncle" and he brought us back to "terra firma". But this really shows his passion of the love of water and fishing in Florida. You simply cannot go wrong booking a charter with Hustler Fishing Charters. Captain Randy is a true gentleman, the boat is very well outfitted and strong, and you are guaranteed to bring home dinner.

Our group of five booked with Contagious when our previous Captain had engine trouble. Captain Mike and Ryan went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Most importantly, we caught a lot of fish. Snapper, grouper and even an octopus. The dolphins must have known about Contagious. They followed us all day. Despite that, Captain Mike made sure we had many opportunities to catch some keepers. As we travelled from fishing spot to fishing spot, Captain Mike and Ryan went out of their way to keep us entertained. We saw a triple tail, really unique, thanks to their efforts. See photo. Do yourself a favor and book with Contagious. You will be glad you did. Until next year........

My husband was the most experienced of us, having fished in lakes and rivers at home. I could take it or leave it but I love to eat fish, and let's be honest, reeling in fish is fun. My daughter loves to kill meat, but is completely vegetarian, so she was into the sport of it. And my son...God love him...most of his fishing experience is the Wii Fishing video game. He was eager to try something new he'd never done before, but he went into it not knowing how to hold a fishing pole. Mike and Ryan were able to meet us each at our level of experience and made it super enjoyable for all of us. It was totally worth paying a little extra over some of the other charters to be the only people on the boat. It meant we had 100% personalized attention. Mike drives the boat and is a good conversationalist while Ryan, a younger guy who has enough energy for five people, mans the fishing poles, baiting them, casting them, and then once we got a bite and reeled in the fish, he grabbed the fish, took the hook out, and took care of putting the fish on ice until we got back to the shore. It was so enjoyable to only have to do the fishing and reeling and having all the other tasks handled for us. We never had to touch a hook or a fish! Mike and Ryan were super encouraging, especially to my kiddos and made the trip really special. These guys had an intimate knowledge of the water around Indian Rocks and knew where to find fish. And you can tell they love fishing!!! My husband and kids rotated the fishing duties while I mostly sat letting them have all the opportunities to catch fish they wanted and took pictures (I did reel one in...and it was the biggest of the day! ). I had been dreading the trip and was planning on just "taking one for the team" so my family could have a good time. I suffer from POTS, myalgic encephalomyelitis, and idiopathic hypersomnia and the thought of a half day on a boat with no where to go if I had an attack seemed awful. Fortunately, the boat was very comfortable! It was super clean, and well maintained. There is a little bit of shade on the boat, but many times the hot Florida sun did beat down on us. We went in the morning at day break, though, so it wasn't until the end of the trip I started to get hot. There was a large cushioned place to sit in the middle of the boat, perhaps 4'x5' (?), that was extremely comfortable, and if a sleep attack would have hit me, I wouldn't have had any reservations about lying on the cushion and sleeping. Luckily I didn't have to do that, so I spent my time cheering on my kids when they got fish and talking to Mike. I was even sad when it was over. I could have kept going for another hour or two. I loved seeing my family have such a good time and experiencing something new that we could never do at home! When we got back to the dock, Mike took all of our fish and cleaned them and cut them into fillets right there at his butcher table on the dock. He threw the fish carcasses to the pelicans and my kids and I enjoyed watching the pelicans fight over the fish. When the fish was all cleaned and filleted, we left with two gallon size bags of fillets, both so full we could barely close them. When we got back to our condo, we looked up the market price for the fresh mackerel and kingfish we caught and we easily had over $300 worth of fish. Our condo had a kitchenette, so we spent the rest of the week eating fresh fish fillets cooked in a little bit of bacon fat...yum!!! We even still have some to take home (check Publix for dry ice to put in the cooler if you end up taking fish home too). I cannot recommend these guys and their charter fishing trip enough! They really have something special here and I'm so glad my family got to experience this. Even after all the fish fillets are gone, we'll have tons of awesome memories, pictures, and experiences to keep for a lifetime!
