Aram of Slip Busters was very professional as well as communicative with our family. Attached is a photo of the fine job he did in short time! We are all breathing a huge sigh of relief knowing the fall risk has been greatly decreased with the sturdiness as well as strategic placement of the grab bar, for my father. Earlier in the week, Aram called to schedule his appointment, to serve my father, a VA Korean Veteran, who has recently become wheelchair-bound. He communicated with us when it became evident that due to the rain and horrible traffic, which I witnessed and was experiencing myself, he would be a little bit delayed but no more than one hour. I was impressed by his sense of responsibility, respect to my parents, as well as professionalism. It is without hesitation, I highly recommend the services of Aram and the Slip Busters crew!

Aram did a wonderful job installing grab bars, shower head, toilet riser and handle. He's very professional and friendly. He's also efficient and fast. Thank you, Aram!

These are two of the 7 handles put in our place. Thank you again.

Aram was a delight to have in our home. Professional and quick. You could not ask for a more thorough job well done. Thank you for making our home safe and convenient for my parents.

Man these guys are great!! Aram and Jimmy not only did a great job installing my handrails and shower bench but Aram went above and beyond and made sure every rail was placed exactly the way I need them. They were both very friendly and actually cared about my needs. 10 out of 10 I would recommend! Thank you both so much for all your help. Everything looks fantastic!!

Now my Dad can shower safely!

The space is small, less than 120 sq. feet in our mid-1920's era house, and yet there is an amazing amount of counter and storage space, and the workflow between range, fridge, coffee station and sink is natural and makes sense. Everything is light and airy looking and the space looks modern yet retains the feel of early 20th century construction. Tile, counter, cabinets, floor and paint are complimentary, and soothing. There's even a range hood for handling cooking exhaust. We could not be happier with the outcome of our project, and we realize that engaging Aimee Toy Inouye at Paragon Kitchens and Bath was the number one reason for the success of our remodeling project. Rewind 4 months. My wife and I decided our 90s-era old kitchen had to go. Massive dark granite counters/backsplash was cracking, Ikea cabinets were crumbling, lighting was dim and we could barely lay out a cutting board for meal prep. We knew enough subcontractors that we thought we could handle the project ourselves, but how were we going to best change the space? We investigated kitchen design firms and the upfront cost seemed shockingly high. Paragon's quote was in the middle of several firms we investigated, but still, we were thinking we could save money right away by figuring out a design ourselves. Keep in mind, engaging a designer will be your first expense. Later on you will be writing check after check without thinking twice but in the beginning, you will hesitate. You will think, they can spit floor plans out of a computer in an hour. It's a counter and some cabinet boxes and some tiles. Plug in the numbers and it's done. You will think of the cost of designer time, when you really should think of the cost of designer expertise. You are paying for knowledge, experience, and talent, which actually is priceless. In this case Aimee's knowledge, experience and talent were an amazing bargain. She and her partner Christina visited our kitchen several times and talked to us about our issues and what we wanted out of a remodel. They took exact measurements, and then several weeks later came back with renderings of four different layouts, with pros and cons listed for each. We worked with her and in the end combined two of these proposed designs and asked for cabinet estimates, a counter source, and advice on paint, flooring and tile. Here Aimee's contacts were key. We visited a slab yard in Berkeley together and picked out stone that would work with her design, and found complimentary backsplash tile and flooring. She put together a cabinet order that was complex and complete, with a company that gave a firm delivery date, and with that in place we were able to start demo on Jan 5. Paragon provided a complete set of layout and elevation plans with all measurements that our electrician, cabinet installer, tile contractor and plumber used with everything accurate and complete. Because of her assistance, we experienced smooth sailing step by step, and the project was completed exactly one month later! Throughout the process, Aimee was instantly responsive with questions about delivery, measurements, paint colors, lighting fixture suggestions, and sink and faucet recommendations. Everything she recommended worked perfectly, and when everything was finished the results were amazing. We could not have been more pleased. My wife and I recommend Paragon highly. Remember when considering engaging a designer, that you will be living with the end result for many years, long after the memory of starting the ball rolling has faded. You will enjoy the results!

Not only did she capture our design esthetic beautifully, she also connected us to the best contractor, cabinet maker, countertop manufacturer, and tile supplier. Having someone in the know in the business connect you to the right folks is priceless. She also set up all of our orders for us, which meant we didn't need to count tiles or spend hours staring at fixtures trying to figure out what would fit in our bathroom space and also look good. She just took care of *everything*, was incredibly responsive and professional, and thoughtful throughout. You won't regret working with Paragon!

It was a huge project and it took multiple 3 hr sessions with Chao to nail down the design. He was very knowledgeable with different brands and assisted me with finding cabinet accessories that I was looking for. He was there to assist us during the installation when we needed extra parts or to reorder damaged cabinet. He took care of us throughout the entire process and we appreciate all he has done for us!

We visited several cabinet stores and most places only had MDF cabinets, but we wanted solid wood so that it would last longer. However, we didn't need fully custom cabinets. MDF cabinets are much cheaper around $5K for our project, but we ended up spending about $25K on ours, which were made in America. Kevin was able to lay out all the cabinets for us and discussed functionality. We're very happy with our lazy Susan corner cabinets, and having built in trash and microwave cabinets. He also helped us update the design after the demo too. Kevin's design was really helpful and we even used them for submitting our permit. I think a designer would have charged at least $5K, but I had a clear idea of what look and materials I wanted so and I was glad to commit the savings to better materials. 4 stars instead of 5 stars, because I think the management is very inflexible. We received the wrong size trash cans and I had to purchase my own, but did not receive even a $100 credit after spending so much there.

Tl;dr Great price point for relatively good quality solid wood cabinets compared to other places that does mixed-MDF and costs more. My SIL recommended Granite Expo for their price point and quality. They use Milzen brand cabinets and the cabinet builder is just 2 minutes away from their store. My review is on the kitchen cabinets and the purchasing process. I shopped around at other local SF, Oakland, and Hayward cabinet shops and had a rendering made from their Emeryville location before deciding to move forward with buying from Granite Expo Oakland location. I was able to speak to a rep within 10 minutes with my rendering to place my order, we did 15 cabinets in M21 Hollis White cabinets (shaker style) and it was ready to pick up within the same week. On pick up day, we brought our truck and made 2 runs. The warehouse workers helped load in which was so helpful, and handles were included in the price. They have a lot in stock, just need time to build or can sell it to you not built if preferred for pick up. Overall a smooth purchase and the sales associate I worked with was well-versed in helping beginners like me with a consultation, and not too chatty or pressuring to up sell. Good spot for a no frills buy.
