Where to begin with my journey... I've been on a diet off and on since I was 13 years old and used different programs, fads and methods to lose the weight. Losing really hasn't been the problem, it's stabilizing and maintaining. When I went back to Slimgenics in May 2013, I wanted to lose over 20 pounds (weight that I had put on over the last couple of years due to some major stressors in life). I'd been through thyroid cancer and melanoma removal, for starters, but who doesn't have things happen. During these difficult years, I was pretty low on the energy level, especially this past winter. When springtime hit, I decided to break out of the funk and look for help. I was thrilled to come back to a program I know that works. Since this past spring, I've lost around 40 pounds and it's been through the Arvada Slimgenics team's help (whether it's via class education, a quick phone call to check on me, or an in person visit with one of the many gals I've met) that has strongly encouraged me. The have become like sisters that I never had. By returning to Slimgenics and becoming a "Slimfinity" member I've gained new friends, new confidence, and an overall better attitude about living a healthier lifestyle. How did I lose the weight, you ask? I've kept in steady communication with my center, followed their plan, changed my eating habits dramatically, cut out sugar and processed foods, weighed in, in front of someone 3 times a week, and drank about 80 ounces of water a day. But the best kept secret was, and is, keeping a detailed food journal, which has been an eye-opening experience from the start. Now that I'm trying to maintain my loss, the gals at the center in Arvada have kept up with the encouragement, compliments, education and excellent listening skills. I am down to a once a week visit, as I continue to re-learn the ropes (or re-train my brain on self-esteem and body-image) and I miss the laughter of the sisterhood. Ok, I've seen a few men participating too :-) We all love Arvada Slimgenics! So, needless to say, I'd strongly recommend investing your time with them to anyone who wants a compassionate, encouraging support towards better health and a happier heart. I cannot begin to explain what the ladies at this center have done for me. I need to loose 80# and have already lost 69. The support and professionalism from the ladies here is phenomenal. I was pretty depressed about how I looked and what the weight was doing to my health. They have given me mental and emotional support that was so very needed. They teach you how to have a healthy lifestyle. My type 2 diabetes is now under control with better than better readings. Prior to slimgenics I was facing the need to start insulin. Eating healthy has never been better. My energy level has improved along with my confidence level. I enjoy going places whereas before I didn't want to be seen with my overweight and short stature. Anyone looking to change their life for the better this place is the one to be. As I have stated these ladies know their job and are there for you constantly to help, support and keep you on track. After many years of being overweight and not feeling good physically or mentally about where I was at, I decided to try the SlimGenics program. At first I had some reservations about the program....would I truly loose the weight, how tough would it be and the cost. I made a decision that if I went into this program I would see it through no matter what and especially if I saw results day to day or week to week. I can honestly say that I was quite surprised...I reached my goal of losing 40 lbs in 4 months, the program was really very good and they are still very much concerned with you maintaining the weight lost for life. My daughter and I LOVE the fabulous and supporting women at this center. My daughter started in March 2013 with the NObesity program and I alongside her, signed up for my own program to support my daughter in this journey and to take control of my own weight. This had been a journey and without the support of the fabulous staff, we wouldn't be as successful as we have been without the support of these fabulous ladies. My daughter and I have made the commitment and have become Slim for life members!!!! UPDATE: Here I am, just a few months after my first YELP and at goal, have lost 90 lbs. and am now healthy. Not sure if the wonderful Counselors at the Arvada Slimgenics really know what a difference they make in our lives. The constant support and encouragement they provide is invaluable and the nutritional education will be a part of me forever. To go from a place where a Physician tells you that you are at risk for several serious health conditions to a healthy and active person in only a few short months is amazing. The ladies at the Arvada SlimGenics are fabulous. For those of you out there like me who have struggled for years to get the weight off. To only put it right back on here is your program. I am 16 weeks in & have lost 31 pounds & 28". I love the program you are never hungry & have a large variety of foods to eat .. You use your groceries & great recipes. The support you receive is amazing. They are very committed to getting you to your goal. Between office visits & phone calls it is all very reassuring that they are your personal cheerleading section. I am looking forward to my next 16 weeks. Love,Love,Love these people!! I started out at a whopping 208 pounds and I am only 5,1" tall. The program not only helps you loose weight but it also has accountability factor that you don't get with a lot of programs! They encourage you to weigh in at least least 3 times a week. Not only does that keep you on the straight and narrow but if you run into a snag it is only a day or two a the most before you get one on one support! They discuss any challenges you might have coming up and help you deal with those challenges. First of all the SlimGenics program works. All of the staff members at the Arvada branch are contributors to the success of the program. They are very knowledgeable about the SlimGenics program and provide great advice and explanation of the weight loss process. I feel that I have a team of professionals sharing my weight loss journey and they are genuinely concerned about my progress. I LOVE the ladies at this center. They have been so helpful and encouraging. I never feel like they are in a hurry to usher me in and out the door when I come in to weigh no matter how busy they are. They take the time to listen to my struggles and help me figure out ways to work around whatever challenge I might be facing. They celebrate the big strides I've made and they even celebrate the small baby steps I've taken. I haven't had a counselor at this center that I didn't like and I have met them all! My daughter was in the SlimGenics program and after seeing the results, I signed up. Overall the program is great. The snacks are actually good and the supplements are high quality, but I believe the key to the program is the counseling. The counselors at this center are friendly, knowledgeable, empathetic and patient. Now really, how much fun could it be talking with overweight people all day? Somehow they do it and they do it well. I have been doing my weightloss at this center for 15 weeks. They are very helpful for someone like me because I am only a teenager and sometimes it can be hard for us college students to eat healthy and to lose weight. I have been overweight for a while so it takes time, but I'm almost half way to my goal!! The counselors are all very helpful and supportive. They keep you motivated by congratulating you when your doing well and give you encouragement and pointers if you hit a plateau. I have always had trouble sticking to a diet plan. With the help of the fantastic counselors I have stuck to this life style change. They are always willing to answer any questions I have. The counselors at the Arvada location did exactly what I needed. They held me accountable for my food choices in a friendly, pleasant way. Slimgenics is a diet that has totally worked for me. I had tried several other plans for 15 years and was never able lose the weight.
