There is a large bead on the chain to close it and it was caught inside the top. After a struggle it released. The rainy day and early season meant no outside swimming or amusement park. The inside pool is small and a lifeguard always on duty, 9:30-9:30. Hot tub is small - sits 6. It's not great. I couldn't see controls anywhere so jets aren't strong. A small baby pool is great for the little ones. It says 1.5 ft deep but more like a foot. The bigger kids really enjoyed the big pool. Dinner at Penleys was ok. The Cobb salad great and chicken nuggets and fries typical. Our son got the brats. He enjoyed them but we both thought the gravy wasn't needed. I would have liked some cooked marks on them. Mac and cheese looked good The only option for breakfast was the buffet. The only gf/df choices were scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit and granola. Oatmeal with topping choices would have been welcomed. Pancakes and waffles were precooked Staff is friendly and accommodating.

Cherry Crest Adventure Farm - Cherry Crest Adventure Farm

Cherry Crest Adventure Farm

My kids loved everything from the large corn maze to the swings to the games to the playground equipment to the large sandbox filled with corn. My kids were 4 and 6 during our visit, but the farm can easily accommodate older or younger. Two notes; 1. The bathrooms in the back of the farm are new & super clean. 2. Don't feel pressure to purchase the add ones (apple chucking and paintball) - those sections are towards the back of the farm and easily avoidable. There was a variety of food options - a few standard theme park options along with specialty options like homemade ice cream.

Buy tickets online- tickets are cheaper. If you go during the week- it's cheaper too! They also have 50% off for active military and veterans, which is a great deal! They have all kinds of games, tug of war ropes, a play area/little town for younger kids, pig races. Some nights they have fireworks or bands. If you come- the corn maze is a must! All types of food vendors like burgers, fries, chicken fingers, ice cream and apple cider donuts. You can spend hours here and not get bored. They also have for pit and picnic table areas you can rent out and they provide logs and sticks so you can roast marshmallows or hotdogs. Definitely recommend this farm.

Castle Roller Skating - Getting skates.

Castle Roller Skating

Staff was friendly and helpful!…read more There's something really special about a place that can take you straight back in time--and this roller skating rink does exactly that. The moment you walk in, it feels like stepping into the early 90s all over again. The music, the lights, the energy... it's pure nostalgia in the best way. From the classic skate rentals to the upbeat throwback jams, everything about this place reminds me of being a kid--laughing with friends, trying not to fall, and racing around the rink without a care in the world. The atmosphere is fun, welcoming, and full of life, just like it used to be. It's clean, well-run, and perfect for families, date nights, or just reliving those carefree days. Whether you grew up skating or you're new to it, this rink brings that timeless joy that never really goes away. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun night out and a little trip down memory lane.

I go skating every weekend at the Gretna roller rink and wanted to try something new on a Wednesday before the weekend when I skate at Gretna. I guess you won't get our business.

There was so much potential there. The actors literally broke character on several occasions and weren't even trying to be scary. The haunted houses were just dark hallways, limited actors & older animotronics. There was literally no one even trying to scare guests. It was beyond disappointing. They were sending large groups thru and it made it difficult when you only have a few actors working the line. The quality of the actors wasn't there. It seemed like they were disinterested in working and just there to do the hours for the paycheck. The ones in the hayride literally just walked onto the wagons , did a few boos and left, There weren't really any scares. You knew when they were coming!! It was a little unnerving that no bags were being checked or no metal detectors. This should have been done especially with the events that take place in today's world. When there's that many people it's best to be safe.

Knoebels Amusement Resort - My husband got the golden ring! That earns you a free ride! Ralph and I were on the bench so we couldn't reach the rings.

Knoebels Amusement Resort

I have been coming to Knoebel's almost every summer since 1979. I have watched it change and grow,…read morebut what's remarkable is how much it has stayed true to itself. It is still family owned. It still feels personal. It still feels like the kind of place built for joy rather than spreadsheets. Knoebel's has one of the most unique setups of any amusement park in the country. There is no admission fee. None. You pay only for what you want to ride, or you can get an all-day wristband on weekdays. Parking is free too. You can bring in your own food and non-alcoholic drinks without any hassle. The food they sell is good and affordable, and the variety is incredible. This is not frozen burger-and-fries territory. Knoebel's regularly wins the Golden Ticket Award for Best Food, beating out giant, big-budget parks from across the nation. And it is not just the food that gets recognition. The Phoenix, a masterpiece of a wooden roller coaster rebuilt from the bones of a coaster in Texas, has been named the Best Wooden Coaster in the world more than once. The Haunted Mansion is consistently ranked among the best dark rides anywhere. These rides are not nostalgia pieces coasting on reputation. They are legitimately great. Add in the one-of-a-kind Flying Turns, the steel thrill of Impulse, the twisting chaos of Twister, and the wonderfully unpredictable Flyer, and you have a lineup that would stand out even in parks five times the size. The park's setting is part of its magic. It is nestled in the mountains, shaded by towering trees. On hot days, the shade makes all the difference. The paths wind like a midway at a state fair, and in fact, that is what Knoebel's most closely resembles: a permanent state fair where you are not constantly being wrung for every dollar. It is relaxed, welcoming, and wonderfully unpolished in the right ways. It is dog friendly, which means you can bring the whole family, four-legged members included. For those who want to stay overnight, there is an on-site campground with everything from tent sites to cabins, as well as the Crystal Pool for swimming on hot summer afternoons. Knoebel's has been part of my life for over four decades, and it remains my favorite amusement park in the world. I love being able to watch my sons create memories on some of the same rides I loved at their age while exploring new additions together. It is proof that you can grow and improve without losing your heart. Every year I leave with the same thought: I cannot wait to come back.

What can be said that has not already been said before…read more This is a very quaint family owned amusement park nestled down in the woods, which makes for an amazing backdrop to view and it's really nice is there are plenty of trees throughout the park so if it is one of those 90° days you'll find relief under a shade tree somewhere in the park . We went there for the first of their Halloween nights and it was decorated really nice. I was impressed and we had our granddaughter with us so we spent a lot of time in the children's area for the rides and we were able to get her in on a few big people rides, which was very nice. We did want to go on the haunted train, but it was closed, which was kind of strange They do have plenty of food selections and it seems their prices are just a little bit on high side for what they offer and what portion you get so I would walk around and take a look and see what you really really want and the pricing but the food that we had was freshly prepared. It was good worth the money no The lines were not that long at times we were able to go on the rides pretty much when we walked up to them until it started to get more in the evening and the rides got a little bit longer lines, but it move very fast. The rides are in great shape. They're very well lit very very nice looking Parking on the other hand, we forgot where we parked and it took us a lot to find our vehicle so make sure when you park you look at the road number for which we failed to do It's a really nice ride at this time of year out of Harrisburg to go up there. Plenty of open highway traffic moved well getting off the highway and going down the back roads to the park. We had no problems whatsoever. Note there is a Starbucks there that it's not an actual true Starbucks you need to put your own cream and sugar and other items in your drink so just be aware of that We highly recommend us amusement park and we look forward to many more visits over the next coming years
