I had the smashburger and I usually like that style of burger, but this one was so over-cooked the edges of the burger were crunchy hard. The burger was not seasoned. The pasta tasted like it was not salted properly when cooked and the dish was just spicy, one note. Some seasoning and some layering of flavors would really elevate their food.

And I thought I would have to give up on my desire to pop back in to The Ruck for a pint. On the way back to my hotel, I decided to just check to see what Dave and crew had on tap. Egads! Seriously folks, this bar is an embarrassment of riches. I only wanted to have one beer, but I left with three. Two I enjoyed on site, Hill Farmstead's Susan and the brewery's Society and Solitude #13. These are heavy hitters, and even just two five ounce pours put me in a place where I felt it would be imprudent to have a third. Fortunately for me, the crowler machine was fully functional, and I was able to grab an oil can of Weldwerks Xtra Xtra Broccolli to go. Beer names are stupid, but they will not dissuade me from drinking something delicious. Sadly, Dave wasn't there, so I didn't get to say hi, or shake his hand, or thank him for his hard work of managing such an epic tap list. Regrettably I rolled in late in the evening and the kitchen had already closed. No wings for me. Not even one of their special deviled eggs... which sounded delicious, btw. Welp, it was a very very good reminder for me to get back to Troy, arrive earlier in the evening, and move The Ruck back up to the top of my list. You Trojans are lucky to have this joint. Go there. The drinks came out quickly after we ordered them. The food took a decent amount longer. Other than having to wait a little longer than usual for our food it was a great experience. We were so excited to eat by the time it came I did forget to take a photo of the food but it was all portioned well and well seasoned.

The Western Ave Herbies location has been our go-to spot in the past. Very clean, friendly staff, great food. Visit to Troy Herbies in spring 2026 was ok, not great. Visit for take out 6/24/26 was horrible. We should not have eaten it. Customer area floor and logo carpet were absolutely filthy. Then I noticed the smell. I moved around a bit and realized the smell was coming from the trash - like it hadn't been emptied in several days. Rotten food odor. I like Herbies and keeping my money with a local chain. They also have GF buns and vegan options as well! The loaded fries were heavy with cheese and caramelized onions and delicious. We orders two of their famous milkshakes to go one chocolate and one strawberry. Highly recommend the strawberry as there is no food coloring and it was amazing and super thick. The parking outside is street parking and you can easily find a spot.

I ordered this as takeout and just had to take a couple of bites in the car before going home to try it nice and warm. This kind of sandwich is hard to find. A special roll needs to be used for this called a kimmelweck roll. A kimmelweck (or kummelweck) roll is a crunchy, Kaiser-type bread roll topped with coarse salt and aromatic caraway seeds, primarily known for defining the Buffalo, New York, "beef on weck" sandwich. Originating from 19th-century German immigrant traditions, they are usually filled with roast beef and soaked in au jus. The sandwich was loaded with juicy flavorful roast beef. The bun had caraway seeds and coarse salt all over the top of it which complimented the beef deliciously. It also had a horseradish sauce on the sandwich, so good. It was served with tasty fries and two little cups of au jus. I would definitely order this again.

The Chicken Parm portion was huge, and the cutlet was cooked perfectly. I'm also a fan of chunky tomato sauce, which is exactly what it was topped with. It was delicious! And for $18, I thought it was more than fair for the large portion I received. My boyfriend loved the Bacon Bleu Burger, which came with handcut fries, and my Dad loved the Broiled Haddock. To put into perspective, I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza and medium wings. First, the pizza was absolutely disgusting. The crust was extremely doughy and there was hardly any sauce on the pizza. In addition, the pepperoni slices were the size of the entire pizza. It was very bizarre. Furthermore, the flavor of the pizza was not enjoyable at all. It seems a lot of restaurants use wood fired pizza ovens, but don't actually put any effort into the pizza which is a shame. On the flip side, the wings were actually pretty good. To enumerate, the wings had a good amount of spice and the sauce was tasty. Also, the wings were juicy, but the outside could have been crispier. Given these points, The Trestle has terrible pizza and solid chicken wings.
