Slide Food Cart - one more thing that makes summer my favorite! Lucky enough to work near a scheduled stop during the weekday lunch hour and it's always a great lunch to be had! I've tried most of them and vary my choice with the day and my mood, but I never pass on chips and homemade ranch as the side! One slider, especially depending on who is making them, plus chips is usually plenty for lunch. Days like today when I can't pass up either the Reuben OR How do you say the name of that pepper - well, I'm feeling pretty gluttonous but it's worth it! The owner is really nice and really invested in her business. We have utilized Slide's catering services for our office Christmas party and she does a fantastic job with catering too. read more

This cart is bold. Really bold. They serve a variety of sliders, but bypass the familiar (and often grand) burger slider. Even bolder, they hauled everything over to Science Dr., which can be a wasteland for like operations. They can get away with it because it is obvious, based on their menu, they step their sliders up a whole 'nother level. Everything (even the vegetarian options) read so appetizing. The dribbles were making my way to my chin. It would be embarrassing, but I'm sure they see it all the time. Their service was very friendly and efficient. My order was styrofoamed in two minutes. I was in the mood for Italian, but also wanted something spicy to battle my sinuses. I opted for two mix/match sliders and chips combo. The sliders were; "Powerball" - homemade marina-soaked juicy meatball stuffed with gooey mozzarella with deliciously fresh basil leaves floating in the sauce & "Italy on Wisconsin" -- a roma tomato and fresh mozzarella slice topped with the basil, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Too finish it off, I had to snag the handmade thick-cut potato chips with garlic wasabi! The meatball slider was perfect old school Italian-American with a touch of class stepping it up with basil and perfectly oozing mozzarella. Even better was the incredible "Italy on Wisconsin" - AKA 'Caprese Salad on a Bun"; I never thought that it could work so well, but it was, so fresh and saliva inducing, I wanted more! Of course their buns are perfect (don't say that in the wrong company)! Finally, I finished with the chips. There was a massive mound of perfectly crispy, crunchy and salted real potato-ey goodness. The wasabi sauce was sinus-clearing and delicious -- the garlic was a light undercurrent, but added to its robust flavor. The budget gourmet lunch was only $8.00! It was certainly more satisfying than grabbing a Pop Tart from vending or walking further for a bland sub or a slice of grease-drenched pizza. You gotta have this. I will go as many times as they will return to Science Dr. I'm almost certain that I'll love everything they offer. read more

I've been to Slide a couple of times and I've been really happy I chose them each time. When I find something I like I tend to stick to it, so on both visits I had the same meal - a Power Ball slider and chips with french onion dip. On my most recent visit my friends tried the Buff Chick and the Mr. Sweet Potato Head, both of which looked delicious and made me think I should branch out next time. The chips are super crispy and perfectly flat, which makes for great dipping. The large ones are easy to snap in half to fit in the little dip cups. I was too full to finish my serving yesterday, and was pleased to find they were still nice and crisp later in the day despite sitting in a paper bag in hot, humid weather for several hours. The Power Ball is is a mozzarella-stuffed meatball covered in house-made marinara. I am not a big meat eater, and generally stick with turkey or chicken when I do order meat, but there's just something about this meatball that makes me come back to it. It's well-seasoned, the texture is pleasant, and it's filling - one Power Ball slider and chips is plenty for me. Looking forward to exploring more of their menu! read more

We just had two excellent sliders from here with our Old Sugar Distillery drinks. We had the Smashburger and the Reuben. I was really pleased with the meat on both of these. The Smashburger was juicy and a nicely cooked medium rare. The Reuben was overflowing with corned beef. I believe they get their meats locally (Underground Butcher?). They also have awesome homemade potato chips: crispy, oily, and thick. The french onion dip for the chips is homemade as well and very good. So glad we found this spot on our way out for a drink! read more

I tried Slide about a year ago now for lunch. I ordered 2 sliders with a Groupon, and they came with chips and a drink. I took them home to eat, and I'm really glad I did because I cut into them to find that they were raw! I'm totally fine with medium cooked burgers, but these were cold and bright red in the center. I ended up having to microwave them to cook them through and eat them. The chips were good and the sliders were otherwise fine. Based on other reviews it sounds like my experience was uncharacteristic of Slide, but I was really not pleased. While I'm glad others have not had this issue, I unfortunately don't think I am brave enough to try Slide again. read more

Yum. I had my hater pants on and thought....sliders? Blah. Nothing special. Then I read her menu! She named her pulled pork sandwich, Wilbur. It intrigued me. I ordered the Wilbur and the Superball (a meatball with mozzarella inside). It comes with a side of your choice. All of this was only $7 and I could not finish it! The sliders are not your typical two bite sandwiches. They are absolutely filling. The pulled pork was delicious, moist and flavorful. The meatball was was soft and saucy. Perfect mini meatball sandwich. My only complaint was her pasta salad lacked flavor. It did nothing for the amazing meal. read more

I'm sad that Slide is heading down to the Capitol! I'll miss their options on Library Mall -- sometimes I'd feel like a little Italian, sometimes BBQ, sometimes something totally different. Their chips are great and I love their dip choices. I love the caprese sandwich so much! The beet one is a little strange, but exciting. I've never been disappointed by Slide .. except that they're moving. :( read more

Holy buffalo chicken slider! Yum! At first thought when seeing this cart, I was like.....Oh great another standard hamburger. Then my intuitive menu reading skills kicked in and I decided to give it a go. How excited was I!!!!!!!! Super excited. Turns out this food cart has all the greatness of interesting sliders packed into it. I'm pretty much trying to say that it was excellent. My go to is the Powerball, a huge meatball stuffed full of tasty mozz. cheese. But don't stop there is your going to eat at this cart. I suggest doing the 3 slider meal and try to be creative. Don't pass up on the homemade chips and slaw. They are just as fantastic as they sound. This cart has a lot of good things going for it. I live on the far east side of Madtown and can not wait to see this cart again next summer at the far east side farmer's market (by the east side Great Dane) every Wednesday evening. I'll say it again, Yum! read more

We recently tried this cart and had high expectations. We tried two the veg sliders, one beet slider and one Italy on Wisconsin. They ran out of the sweet potato. They were ok. I felt like the bread was too thick and doughy and took away from the flavor of the inside. The beets were kind of boring and the mozzarella slider needed a touch of salt or some seasoning. The homemade chips were excellent and actually elevate the rating to a 3.5 stars. I will definitely be back again to try the Superball and the Buff Chick. I will update review after that. The staff is very friendly and the deliver the food quickly. read more

It took me two tries to find this cart, because it's not where the Yelp map indicates. It's right on the Capitol Square with a collection of other carts. Interesting sliders, though nothing life-changing. I had the Poweball and the "What's the Name of that Pepper?" - a sirloin/provolone/pepperoncini combo. The homemade potato chips lived up to the hype, though. I recommend the curry ketchup to dip them in. Super fast & friendly service; I think I waited 30 seconds for my food. read more

Last time, I gave Slide four stars instead of five, because of spiciness and burger bun disintegration. It has now been made clear to me that I just hadn't found MY slider, because today I tried the Mr. Sweet Potato Head. It was perfect. The sweetness of the potato, combined with the kick of the curry sauce, was amaaaazing - and the bun held up this time! Chips are awesome, service was friendly and quick, and I love the prices. Very very happy with the progress Slide's made. read more

Appearing one lunch hour next to my office, this little food cart was a perfect pick-me-up for a Monday lunch hour! I tried the Buff Chick slider which was outstanding and spicy! I also had the coleslaw which was deliciously not drenched in mayo dressing but rather a light vinegary sauce. To top it all off, they had OUTSTANDING house made potato chips with dipping sauce. We tried the curry ketchup and wasabi garlic...which both tied for being outstandingly different and delicious! Word on the street is they will be back in a few weeks, corner of Whitney Way and University Ave! Can't wait! read more

The buffalo chicken slider was delicious. It was a little too wet from the sauce but it was quite delicious. The chips were fresh and warm and had an appropriate amount of salt. The woman working the cart was uber friendly. I enjoyed the experience greatly. read more

We had Slide cater a recent party, and it was absolutely great. Everyone raved about the food, set up was perfect, and Christine's staff was attentive. If you have a private party you need catered, I really recommend Slide because they've got a little bit of everything for everyone. read more

Slide has delicious buffalo chicken sandwiches and they offer a GLUTEN FREE bun that is actually good! So this GF girl (not GF by choice, mind you) can finally eat a damn buffalo chicken sandwich like a damn AMERICAN again. Their housemade chips are delightful. Try them with the buffalo ketchup. And the ladies who work the cart are always upbeat and nice. And the prices ain't bad either. read more

I got the buffalo chicken slider and the pulled pork slider. Both were really good. I also got the chips which were good as well. I also got the spicy ketchup which wasn't very spicy at all but it was still good! read more

We had Slide Food Cart cater our annual summer corporate event at the Henry Vilas Zoo shelter in Madison. Out of the three vendors we quoted, Christine was the quickest friendliest response we received! She was so accommodating to our needs from start to finish! The day of the picnic, her and her team showed up early and ready to go! They set everything up and even offered to help with our set up! Her food was absolutely amazing and not a single thing was out of place! They served food from tables and the food cart to help accommodate the amount of people we had at our event and everything went very smoothly. They cleaned up and packed quickly and had the proper to go containers for our leftovers! Her staff was all very personable and friendly We got multiple compliments on the food options and taste and we highly highly recommend Slide Food Cart! Thank you! read more

You could go for a chain restaurant meal loaded with artificial crap or you could get home cooking without the hassle at slide. These little sandwiches are exactly what I would make for myself at home, but thanks to slide, I don't have to do the dishes or sweat over a stove. I also love the value for the money here with house made chips, fresh fruit, cole slaw, and more available as included sides. The buffalo chicken is fiery hot, and loaded with bleu cheese crumbles. It's a classic flavor combo that makes my mouth water every time. The better than your Italian mama's meatball sandwich actually had a surprise ball of melted mozzarella in the middle that sent it over the top. There's cheese in the middle! I love cheese! I love this sandwich, and so will you! Some idiot on yelp claimed they got a raw beef burger here. Dear moron, this place doesn't sell burgers. The sandwich you got was a meatball. It was cold because you waited until you got home to eat it. The redness you saw was tomato sauce. It's fully cooked, and it's glorious. The curried sweet potato is a unique twist that I never would have thought of, but it totally works. It's spicy, adventurous, and delicious! I could go on and on about all the different flavors, or you could just trust me, and go! Check their Facebook page for the latest on locations. read more

This is amazing! They came to my work and it was beyond delish. I had a beet slider and a mozarella/tomato/balsamic slider. Highly recommend it! read more

This was mediocre food. Nothing special. Just like slapping together stuff in your kitchen and charging too much. One food cart off my list. Banzo in another league. read more

I've stopped by this cart on library a couple times this summer, I work in Memorial Library and I only have a 15 minute break, so this cart is my go-to when I forget my lunch as it takes well under five minutes to order and get your food. I've ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich (titled Buff Chick) and it is amazing, it's made with a good pile of shredded dark meat tossed in buffalo sauce (it is a bit more oily/runny sauce though) topped with blue cheese, carrots and celery on what I think is a brioche bun. I've gotten it with the fresh chips and a homemade ranch dipping sauce and another time with the pasta salad with veggies (although you get a few chips too). I found the one slider with side ($4) to be very filling for quick lunch, service has been pleasant and quick, and most importantly the food is tasty - I'm sure I'll be back to try something else soon. read more

Awesome food! The power ball (meatball) slider is my favorite. And tied for 2nd are the Wilbur (pulled pork) and the buff chick. Yummy dipping sauces for the homemade chips too! Always great, never disappoints! read more

Slide Food Truck catered lunch on the day of my wedding (we got married at a campground), and I cannot overstate how fantastic they were. The food was delicious - everyone could not stop talking about it. We had an assortment of sandwiches and each one was awesome, and of course, the chips were amazing. Plus, the women working the cart were so friendly and accommodating - they could not have been nicer. I would recommend that anyone considering a food truck for their wedding look these ladies up. They are as good as it gets. read more

Slide Food Cart catered an outdoor event for 120 people on the Summer Solstice. The menu selection was outstanding; food was delicious; service was incredible. Christine was flexible, creative, and very professional (so were the staff). Our guests raved about the food and how cool the caterer was... and I didn't lift a finger. Slide Food Cart helped make it a perfect event and I would call them, again, without hesitation. read more

I had the 'Powerball' at Taste of Madison and it was great! There was a lot of melted cheese inside the huge meatball and the marinara sauce wasn't too spicy but it wasn't bland either. Yum! read more

So this review is for Beyond Catering- a catering business owned and operated by the same Slide Food Cart chief, Christine. We chose Beyond Catering for our wedding reception because of the variety of sliders and sides they offered. We were SO HAPPY with our decision! We got the Thanksgiving slider, pulled pork, tomato, mozzarella and pesto vegetarian slider, and for the sides we had spinach artichoke dip, bruschetta, cheese and crackers, and tortellini skewers. Everything was so tasty, I especially loved the tortellini skewers, artichoke dip, and pulled pork. Just as important as the food was the server Nichole who was as sweet and as professional as can be. We had leftovers which she carefully and neatly packaged up for us to take home. We ate leftovers for several days- and we did so happily! If I have another party in Madison, WI, I will use Christine and Nichole again, they are BEYOND wonderful! read more

Lots of favorful food for a good price. Had the pulled pork slider and the sweet potato slider. Both were awesome!

Five stars for non veggie sliders, one for the veggies sliders--which is too bad because we'd prefer those. But slice of beet or sweet potato on a white bun with a little sauce just doesn't cut it. So many good recipes out there for various veggie-based burgers--and there's no excuse for not providing even the most basic toppings like lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. Had big hopes for the barbecued squash, but it was way too sour and vinegary. As long as I'm complaining, a whole-grain bun would be a nice offering, too. read more
