Fun pizza spot with super kind and efficient service, laid back ambiance with a lot of options on…read moretheir menu. The pizza was great, not super doughy and gummy at all, it was really flavorful. Fried pickles were crispy and well seasoned. Definitely recommend! There's upstairs seating as well. Cozy, quick, and comforting.

I have walked by this pizzeria more than a few times. Each time, I was in a rush, and with it being…read moreso busy, I thought it would be impossible to even go inside to get just one slice. I know because I tried, but I could smell the sauces, the fresh dough. Yes, the aroma of pizza goodness and wing goodness was in the air as I stood there for a second, hoping to get one slice. So the next day, I stopped inside. Of course, the whiff of Italian sauces met me at the door. I ordered right away, and we decided on the calamari, which was very crispy and had so much flavor. The sauce was the extra touch. We added the Classic Pizza for the main course. Now, I like a good not-so-messy pizza as well as a messy one, but this pizza here was a not-so-messy, not too much sauce, the perfect layering of cheese, meat, and veggies. The layering was so perfect that each bite was biting down to three different layers of yumminess. We ordered the crispy wings, too. The wings were dripping in flavor like the rest of our brunch. After brunch, I wanted to see the upstairs. It's a nice area overlooking the downtown. I also like that it's a real pizza place with brick walls, high tables, a bar, and pizza equipment you can see. I'm so happy I waited to dine inside instead of trying to grab a slice on the go. So you dine inside, too. It's really a true authentic pizzeria!

Prior to ordering, I showed the server some pictures I took of the wings they served last time we were there. They were extremely small with little to no meat on them. Since this a to go order, I didnt see it until I got home. I asked the server if the wings were any bigger and she thought they were. I placed my order for wings and I got them, they looked the same as last time. The server was going to talk to the manager and have them removed from the bill. This would have been the proper thing to do. Instead she took a $1.00 of the bill. Thats a joke and a great way to loose a customer, which they did. Its apparent that they dont care about their customers.

We sat down to order and grabbed some beers while at it (thank god) & the service was no bueno. It took about 10 minutes for us to be greeted and then another 10 minutes just to get our beers. We ordered our pizzas when we ordered our first beer. 2 and a half hours later & 1 pissed off momma, we asked for it to go since we saw so many other people come in & ordering it to go & receiving their order much quicker than ours! My mother, who orders extra cheese & pepperoni for my dad, asked for EXTRA, EXTRA, EXTRA cheese AND pepperoni & what did these whackos do?! Give a basic ass pepperoni pizza without even trying! If you really want pizza, go to the Slice's in Zebulon or go to American Pie! At least American Pie actually listens when you ask for extra!

Not my first time here, but it is my first review for them! This is really good pizza! (Is there…read morebad pizza?) very traditional, thin, Neopolitan style crust. Not huge, but two or three people could enjoy. (6 slices cut) I wanted to try something different so we got two and boxed the rest. Shelby greeted and seated us, and although she lacked a little knowledge on the beer menu, she made up for that with a trip to the bar to investigate our questions on sour beer, and came back with two excellent samples! We settled on a Dr. Robot and the Charcut-a-pie. I loved the toppings and balsamic drizzle. Goat cheese and arugula just go together. A little honey and I was in heaven! The crust on this one was a little well done, which disappointed but, the overall flavor was on point. Next, we sampled the Spicy Italian. I'm usually pretty good with spicy things, and while this was no exception, it did have both of us in a small sweat! If you are averse to spicy, stick with something else. This crust was also cooked and not over done. I'm not sure what McDonoughs' obsession is with vaults, but it seems to be a recurring theme around the square. You'll find vaults or at least doors that look like vaults all over. The rest of the decor inside and outside was well done. Exposed brick gives it immediate rustic charm, while black floors, raw wood art, and leather stools wrap the package nicely. I definitely like their lighting! Oversized bulbs hung around the pizza oven bar (which you can sit at if there's space) and giant hoop rings finish the rest of the space. It isn't that glaring light that spotlights your table, it's just a nice warm ambient light that makes you wanna pour a vintage red into a wine glass over and over. Oh! I almost forgot, they do have an outdoor patio up front, so on those less humid days and nights, I'll definitely be hanging out there!
