This is Palisade's only bakery. It is next to Fidel's Cocina and around the corner from The Artful Cup, two places I frequently visit. I learned the owner is Mary Lincoln who's been in business since 1980 for 37 years. It's a homey place with multiple tables and a chalkboard menu. I had their daily quiche which was bacon & spinach, a cinnamon twist and a very large Mystic Chai Latte. I heated the quiche in the customer provided microwave. A good quantity of well cooked bacon and plenty of spinach in a light crust. The cinnamon twist was soft and slightly warm from the oven. The Mystic Chai was in an immense cup. I added a loaf of house-made cinnamon bread for only $7.22; The restrooms are not handicap accessible. And no paper or text receipts, just email. read more

We stopped here for a pick me up on our way through town. It's located on a quiet street in downtown Palisade. The ambiance is older and eclectic and overall just a cute place. They have a large selection of fresh pastries and other baked goods. We decided to try the peach blueberry cinnamon roll, cream cheese pastry and peach cake - all of which were delicious. The frosting on the cinnamon roll and cake was too sweet for our taste - a heartier cream cheese based frosting or something less sweet would've been the perfect balance to the pastries. The smothered breakfast burrito was amazing - great flavor and fresh ingredients with a neat take on green chili. The mocha was yummy too. We highly recommend stopped here whenever you are in the area. read more

We were celebrating our 29-year anniversary in Palisade and this was the Town bakery I ordered a small strawberries and whipped cream frosting cake. The staff was very kind, friendly, and quick. I did not open the box and look at it before we left the bakery, I wanted to be surprised. They have good reviews so I just trusted It was going to look like a professional bakery cake and taste delicious. How disappointed and embarrassed I was when my son brought out the cake and it looked like one of my kids made it. It was very dense, I couldn't get through it with a cake knife. To top it all off, two of my guests pulled Small pieces slivers of parchment paper out of their mouth. I'm in Palisade for a few days and like I always do, I decided Yelping in this cute wine town. And my very first stop was this quaint bakery, "Slice O Life". This is such a cute bakery. As I was standing in line to get a few to several items (baked goods), a young man came out from the back and asked us (people in line) if we had any espresso oriented beverages we'd need to order. Great customer service as when I got to the register and was picking what I wanted he came back from the back and placed my double espresso right in front of me (great timing because I almost forgot about my espresso!!) I am celebrating my 26th anniversary of being in the U.S. (moved here from Japan on June 8th, 1996!) so I decided to get me three sweet items: Peach Shortbread Cookie, Chocolate Brownie Tart (not sure if this is the exact name of it), and Peach/Lemon bar. They are just the right size that even if I eat them all in one sitting, it will not be a sugar overload. Although I was able to finish the whole cookie, I only took a few bites of the tart and bar. All of them are so delicious! Palisade is a peach country so you cannot go wrong with anything that has peach as an ingredient. Its almost 5-star reviews speak for the shop's popularity. The locals must love this place dearly as if something like this existed in my very neighborhood of DTC, I'd go there at least a few times a week. Busy little independent bakery/coffee shop in downtown Palisade. There are two rooms for people to sit down and enjoy their treats, hang out with friends, read, or rejuvenate before enjoying more of the town. They have some seating outside, but it was too cold for us to sit out there comfortably on a late October morning. Nice, relaxing atmosphere that still has large plexiglass in front of counter when you order. Slice O Life has baked goods, quiche, and other breakfasty foods. They also make their own dog treats, which my dogs loved on our hike later that afternoon. I had a cinnamon twist which was light and enjoyable, and even better heated. Can't wait to return again on my next trip to Palisade and be able to sit outside with my dogs and enjoy some homemade goodness along with my morning coffee. read more

I was very shy and she graced me with an invitation to her home. She was my first friend at St Leo's Parochial School in Minot, ND. I went with a cappuccino and a couple of pastries. I got one with peach which is the local specialty (this community grows a LOT of peaches). My favorite was the Australian cream bun which was filled with fresh fruit and oh so delicious. We also tried the cinnamon roll and the hello Dollie's and everything was so good. Homemade- fresh- delicious! This is a go to spot when traveling east or west on I-70. The green chile is full of flavor and has a nice kick. It will make your lips pleasantly buzz and give you a minor runny nose. The sandwiches are always on the freshest made from scratch breads and just the right size to fill you up but not put you to sleep as you head back out for "I-70 things". Baked goods are attractive and well prepared but sell out. They usually have some fresh juices/drinks and the staff up front are always friendly. Everything about this experience was undesirable. I would avoid this bakery and the coffee here like the plague.... or the pandemic.... The teenagers who are making the coffee are not wearing gloves, or masks. When pulling my cup out she touched all along the rim and the outside. Then while making my drink used her bare hands to scrape off the "excess" espresso before tempering it. Mind you, this is every employee in the back. My fiancé and I watched the fiasco in horror before leaving the brownie we just purchased on the counter with a note annotating that this business is a part of the COVID problem. This was not my favorite spot in Palisade. The staff was very nice and welcoming but the food left something to be desired. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and my friend had daily quiche. My biscuit came in one container (that was about the size of the biscuit) and the "gravy" came in another container (also the size of a biscuit). There was no way to combine them to have "biscuits and gravy". The gravy was really not good. It was yellow because it was mostly melted butter with floating meat crumbles in it. It wasn't edible. I ate the biscuit, drank my coffee and left. My friends quiche wasn't warmed at all, it was just put cold into a small container. I'm not sure if it was the super young staff working that just needs some coaching or if this is how these things are regularly served. There's lot of opportunity for improvement! read more

Great little place. Food was delicious and service was good even at a peak time. They have a small patio out front where you can dine and watch the world go by. I had the breakfast burrito and a mystic try. Interestingly, the breakfast burrito is a hate yourself. One of the two microwaves they had doesn't seem to work. The breakfast burrito was good, once I actually was able to get it heated. Bonus they have a local hot sauce that is really good too. Not sure what was in the mystic try, it was really delicious! So good. So, so good. A quaint little bakery on Main Street in Palisade. The offerings in the baker's display case are so inviting. Pretty cookies and delicious looking pastries. They also offer coffee & drinks. We got our wedding cake here, ten years ago. We ordered the same for today...a Peach Poppyseed cake. Oh my goodness...Still delicious. Not a slice of life but a slice of heaven!!! I recommend it! We also bought some beautifully iced sugar cookies that were out of this world. Here's the thing. The cookies and cake, though sweet, were not too sweet. I feel like I could have had three cookies or two or three slices of cake and not feel too sugared up! There is limited seating inside. I really wanted to love this place. The woman behind the counter was great and all of the baked goods in the case looked so delicious. The woman was so nice to let me know that some of the cookies were discounted if you bought several. I thanked her and said that I was looking for something more savory. I decided on a burrito which she then told me was premade in the refrigerator for me to grab and microwave myself. I should have politely declined right then, but I thought I'd give it a shot. As I was warming up my food, I saw an older woman come from the back room and tell the woman at the counter not to announce to customers that they can save money if they buy more cookies. She only wanted to give people a discount if they saw the sign and asked for it. What kind of weird, shady business practice is that? To top it off, the burrito was small and bland even after I had it smothered in pork green chili. Everything in there is overpriced, too. YOU ARE IN A SMALL FARM TOWN!
