We went to Macy's before to try them out but the sales staff was too pushy. After checking out a few at Preferred Mattress we picked out one we loved. It was placed in our bedroom later that day. The delivery guys left it there saying the customer service would give us a call to schedule a replacement. We never received a phone call, so we called to schedule the replacement delivery. We had to wait an additional two weeks for it. When they gave us the delivery time window the day before the delivery, that time did not work for us, so we requested a different time or date. The representative helping us, then told us that the system showed that the replacement would not be available for 6 months or more. I just canceled the order. Now we have to wait two weeks for them to pick the recliners up, and then another week after that to get our money back. Such a headache! Not buying from them ever again!

For the last four years, nearly every business that sells a product or service has been taking advantage of the poor economy. The current regime in power tells us that inflation is down and the economy is great. Well that only works for the people who won't think on their own. We all know it isn't great. The small amount of our cost of living increases for this year don't usually cover the increased cost of groceries in a month, much less anything else. But the worst thing is corporations now have the freedom to use the economy as an excuse to raise prices to exorbitant levels. The only choice we have is to take it or leave it. Well we've been purchasing from Verlo since the 1990s and we have a queen setup that will be due to be replaced. But I'm thinking we will put that off. There is no way to check the honesty of the constant price increases. For the first two years we heard the excuses of the virus, supply chain problems, labor problems, transportation problems, "global" nonsense issues and all other excuses that could be applied. Now, they don't even bother with excuses. They just up the prices at will. McDonalds CEO recently admitted that their prices were creeping up while nobody complained. Well now their customers are complaining and they claim they will do something about it. And I believe this tactic is commonplace now. The retailer/seller has free rein and they know it. My wife stopped on her way home from work to order a twin mattress. I asked her when she got home because we bought the exact same mattress in October of last year. The cost now is 23.8% higher than the purchase five months ago. I called Verlo to inquire but the call was answered at their other location. I explained my concern and he stated that some mattresses "had a small increase". I kept it polite as even when angry I don't believe losing one's temper proves a point. But I do not appreciate the fact that he thought I was stupid enough to think that nearly 24% is a small increase. Every step along the way of a product or service will be profitable for the supplier until the consumer purchases it. And they most likely will be ripped off with the inflated price. I know writing this won't change the ways of retailers who are only making the economy worse and taking advantage of their customers, but it certainly doesn't hurt to let them know that we are on to their underhanded and greedy ways. Not I. I bought a new sofa at Ikea late last year. For a small fee (under $40), it was delivered. The restaurant on the third floor was a must-visit, but now food is pricier (everywhere, not just here). Still, maybe it's worthwhile for an old-time experience of sitting sit in a department store eating a warm meal in front of those big windows with views of Midtown and other areas of the city. Room for improvement: I think the store should open a little earlier than 11 a.m. on Sundays.

To our surprise, the opening time has changed to 11 AM. We left and came back at 11. Both of us always enjoy the displays that show you what you can do with specific amounts of square footage. The merchandising team at IKEA are so creative, they make use of every bit of space in their examples. IKEA is a huge store, but you can't get lost. All you gotta do is follow the arrows painted on the floor. They're there from start to finish. They'll lead you through; furniture, accessories, housewares, plants and more. When the arrows lead us through the frames and artwork, we got a giggle that they had copies of the Mona Lisa and Starry Night. My favorite area is the housewares, I can always find something that I need in my kitchen. However, on this visit I found a coat tree for my front foyer in the accent furniture area. It's going to be nice to have something to hand my coat on instead of throwing it on the chair. If you need assistance there's always an associate working nearby. As I shopped, I did notice the prices weren't as low as they use to be, but that is the case almost everywhere. However, it's still a good value.
