Here's the end of the story: The Ethan Allen table was removed. We went a few weeks without a table while we waited for a new one to arrive (from another company). What was interesting was that the men who picked up the table said that they have had to pick up other defective furniture. I've experienced far better than the service we received at this store. I made sure the saleswoman we spoke with understood that we were in a position to buy immediately and from her - in sales-speak, I qualified us as buyers to save some time. Somehow that never registered or she was just plain daft because she treated us as though she was doing us a favor by spending time helping us select about $5k worth of furniture. Here are a few tips for success that may help them in the future: 1. Don't tell the us that another customer left because of the amount of time you were spending with us. The store wasn't that busy and someone else could have helped us if it was your "up" and you were busy. 2. When the customer asks which other stores in the area are comparable don't state that nobody else is in the same category - it is transparently disingenuous. 3. Don't point out that your store is about to close when I begin asking about mechanics of purchasing, ie. incentives for accepting store financing, delivery timeline, etc. 4. You probably shouldn't ask the customers to restore displays to their original condition after checking how they operate. We went to Bassett the next day and ordered everything that we were discussing at EA. We also had such a great experience that we decided to pursue refurnishing the living room too. After building a brand new home, we upgraded to new furniture. We called Leslie Rust, a designer with this facility. We purchased 4 custom ordered bar stools and 2 swivel chairs. The bar stools immediately scratched our brand new hard wood floors despite having bumpers on the bottom of the stool. They sent a technician and he agreed 100% that the issue was due to the barstools. They refused to stand by their product. There was no credit given, no empathy, no anything. I'll never purchase from Ethan Allen again. read more

In response to the other customer, you can't return custom orders. Of course. You can return stock items. I returned a stock rug the other day that a decorator helped me select. There were no issues and service was pleasant. In the past, I have needed assistance leveling a new furniture piece, and the repair man came to my home and did the work promptly. read more

Do not do business with them. A decorator helps you furniture gets delivered not satisfied with it and they won't even return my phone call

My wife and family relocated to St Louis over the summer, and as part of the grand bargain we bought a too-big house that needed a lot more furniture than what we had in Southern California. First we tried an interior designer, which ended badly, and with painfully little to show for what we spent. Almost in despair my wife scheduled a meeting with Debbi McLaughlin at Ethan Allen, who came over and measured everything. What I appreciated about the experience was that Debbie was willing to share her opinion after listening to our needs, and also to develop a plan to layer in the outlay/deployment. Price wise, I suppose one could have gotten a better price elsewhere, but I was just grateful to get good advice, Ethan Allen quality, and delivery service that wrapped it up nicely for us. We were amazed at the helpfullness of Jan Alred, one of the designers at Ethan Allen in Chesterfield. She came to our house twice on short notice, gave some excellent advice on rearranging furniture, and pitched in and helped us do it That alone has made our house truly feel like a home. I bought my bedroom furniture from Ethan Allen and am very pleased. Lynne and Amanda helped me pick everything out and listened to my taste preferences. Lynne even came down to my new place in Soulard to take measurements. It may seem pricey, but they have MUCH MUCH better quality than you'll find elsewhere. I ordered a bed and at the first the experience was good. The issue started with delays and wrong dates given for my order. I would expect that when I am told certain dates for the furniture to arrive that if it didn't they would call, but that would be to much. Instead I had to speak with the sales person and a manager tell me that in the real world dates are only estimates and expectations, and nothing is for sure. Even after I was told they would never say dates are certain, I decided to share with them that I have a saved voicemail with those exact words. Instead of apologizing, they doubled down saying I should no better that dates are never certain. In my opinion that is BS and I will never buy another item from them again. read more

I went into the showroom recently and they had completely revamped it. I loved all the new furniture and accessories that had displayed! They even had items you purchase off the floor which was something new since the last time I had been there! I bought two pillows and some candle sticks and absolutely love them. The staff was very nice and informative about all of my inquiries. I am not ready to make a furniture purchase yet, but when I am this is definitely going to be where I go! I loved all of the furniture and all of the different customizable options, and who could pass up on free design service, lord knows I could use the help!! read more

We have had horrible customer service from this Design Center. The furniture arrived about a month later than promised. When it finally arrived, the color of the rug was different than the advertisement and the store sample. The couch had cushions that were small and separated as well as side that were sewn uneven. Upon calling the store to address this problem, we were told someone from my area would contact us to resolve it. After their service tech failed to make their first appointment, they called to set another. A few days later they called again and reset the appointment again. This time sooner than expected. After the technician came to look at the problem, they called again to verify the prior appointment. It seems as if the office had two appointment setters. The technician arrived mainly to convince us that the product was fine. He did not bring the store sample to compare colors and we had to entertain him while someone from the office brought him the store sample. When it finally arrived, he did admit that the color was "off" but did not offer to take care of it. He said he would have to check with the store to see what they wanted to do. When shown how the cushions on the sofa were too small and the sewing on the side of one cushion was "bunched" and uneven, he said he would relay this to the store and someone would call. Again he did not offer to take care of our problem. About 4 weeks later we still do not have anything done about this problem. I have only purchased Ethan Allen furniture for over 30 years. I have never had such poor service from any company. If buying from Ethan Allen, I recommend you find another design center to help you with your purchase. read more
