Having had a great experience in the past, we returned to Amini's when it was time to update more lighting. Smart move! The salespeople are fantastic! They helped us find the perfect pendants and ceiling lights. They even spent time helping us select the right lightbulbs for the fixture and location. We recently purchased an outside patio set. When I called to see what they had in stock I was lucky to be connected to the salesman Tony W. I highly recommend working with him. Since we live two hours away from Amini's, Tony was kind enough to do a FaceTime with me to show me all they had on the floor in the store. Not only is Tony professional , but he follows the customer completely through the purchase. He is honest and felt we could rely on him when we had a minor glitch when the patio set was delivered. Free pinball, free popcorn, and rugs that "really tie the room together". What more could you ask for? I found Amini's on the pinball map at www.pinside.com where they were listed as having 15+ tables. Upon arrival, this figure seemed to be closer to 30 tables in total, all set to free play. My mind was atwitter, I felt like a meth-head on the set of Breaking Bad. They had billiards tables, indoor/outdoor lighting, home theater setups, you name it. Within their MASSIVE game room were slot machines, air hockey, Skee-ball, a basketball hoop shot, stand up cabinet games, and the aforementioned lineup of pinballs. The tables were absolutely gorgeous, many of which were in near-perfect condition (the KISS and Wrestlemania tables appeared mint). Every table had on pricetags, and there were complimentary bags of popcorn by the front door for customers. Bonus! In talking to Bob Holman--one of Amini's general managers--I expressed interest in their Williams' "Demolition Man" as a purchase or possible trade for my current pin, and he seemed conducive to talks. Stay tuned for updates. If I had a single criticism, it'd be that the pricing on most of their showroom items was high. Granted, most of their pinballs were wonderfully refurbished, but $5.3K for "No Good Gofers"? That's pretty nuts. So did I buy anything....no. But I'm a BIG fan of these guys nevertheless. I was treated with respect and kindness on my visit, and I hope to do business with them soon. Oh, and that bronze dome is killer awesome. Recently there was a private sale for old customers... we hadn't shopped there since 2006! It peaked my curiosity when we got the mailer, so I went in, not knowing what was offered and possibly searching for a rug and/or a recliner. Or nothing. I was greeted so kindly, and guided to Sam, the rug guru. It was so hard to decide to go with the lesser quality vs the masters, and Sam never tried to persuade me to either. I wanted to come back with my spouse to get her opinion and promised I would and did. Sam seemed to appreciate that. We chose a high quality large rug for our living room, but were a bit unsettled about it. It was delivered a couple weeks later, and due to the silk content, we hated the change by the daylight vs nighttime. Within two days we knew we didn't want it since it looked so different in our home vs how it looked in the store. We thought it was mainly lavender, and instead it was heavy in the greens and browns. In the night it looked offwhite with dirty spots. The rug is LOVELY! Amazing quality. I hated calling Sam to tell him we didn't want it, but he was unphased. He is currently working on finding the perfect rug for us, but it's a slow necessary process. The main point: Sam is true to his word. He is a master and is fair. I feel like if we choose a "cheap" (like anything's inexpensive at Amini's, right?) rather than "expensive" rug, he'd accept our decision. So we're not done, are saddled with a heavy log of a rolled up rug in the middle of the living room, but trusting all will be well in the end. I had to move a 16' shuffleboard from my home with a walkout to my new home with no walkout basement. The un named place in St. Charles where I bought it, that begins with a "W", told me when I bought it that they cam move it. I asked because I knew I was going to move in a couple of years. They said they don't do that when I contacted them. Enter Aminis to the rescue. Their very careful and professional staff moved my shuffleboard THROUGH A BASEMENT WINDOW! Purchased two very basic light fixtures from Amini's 2 years ago. Unfortunately, the light stopped turning on. Called them earlier today, had a brief conversation with Tom in their lighting area. Tom swiftly pulled up my original order, and got a replacement fixture ordered for me. I want to call out, this wasn't an expensive fixture, however, the ease and efficiency was top notch. One can reasonably expect great service when an organization wants your sale. But what differentiates Amini's from the rest is post-sale experiences like these. Amazing. I recently stopped in at Amini's to check out their pinball machines, and I was not impressed. They had several Bally/Williams games from the 1990's, all listed as being in "Collector Quality" and selling for high-end restoration prices. However, it appears their idea of "collector quality" only means that they purchased it from a collector. In every other sense, the machines were far from pristine. In particular, The Addams Family machine had central playfield wear all the way through the clearcoat, several pieces of mylar, and the hole under the electric chair was severely worn. The ramps were dirty, and the rubber looks like it had never been maintained. For $8000, I'd get a machine that I'd have to completely dismantle, and spend several weeks repairing and recoating the playfield. No thank you. Other machines being touted as Collector Quality had severe inlane wear, major interior scuffs, and several lights out. At best, these are above-average quality used games. They seemed to get very defensive when I pointed out the excessive wear on these machines. I overheard this "collector quality" sales pitch several times while I was testing the machines, and several claims that the pins were in "pristine" condition. It was very upsetting to hear them pushing this claim upon hapless first-time buyers. Either their idea of condition is severely disconnected from reality, or they hope that someone will be naive enough to believe their claims. As it stands, every one of their pins is being listed for about twice what it is actually worth. read more

I love just walking into this place and looking around, they have so many different home and outdoor furnishing options, it gives you great ideas. This place definitely reminds me of a traditional local furniture store, not a soulless chain. It has outstanding service and helpful staff. I was so disappointed. I am renovating my basement and went in to purchase a game table and possibly some pinball games. I walked the floor for 35 minutes without a service person. I went up to the desk and interrupted Gary playing a game on his phone. He came back and began showing us different options. Another customer came up, Gary left and never came back. Kevin at Amini's is great. He was very helpful and courteous and tried to work within my budget. Very customer oriented sales. When a problem arose with my order he was able to offer me what I felt was a good alternative deal. While I did end up spending more than originally planned, I feel like I got more value in the end. I wish I could think of something nice to say but I just can't. We suffered through the high pressure sales tactics and made a purchase when we were promised a rush order in six weeks. Ten weeks later we had not heard back. When we contacted them they made several excuses and claimed our furniture would be in the following week. The same claim was made each week for the next five weeks! We also realized after the fact that we significantly overpaid. My advice - shop around. My experience at Amini's couldn't be better on my first visit. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and made my way upstairs in search of some lighting fixtures for my home. My sales rep Tom greeted me as I got upstairs and what has been an annoying process of visiting other local stores on several occasions trying to find options that would work all went away during my visit at Amini's. Tom let me have some time to walk around the floor to see inventory and told me even if I find one that isnt in the finish I wanted to let him know and he could check the other finishes. The BEST and most helpful thing during my visit is Amini's has a large screen where Tom can pull up all inventory from their website and we can compare and go over all options. What has been an overwhelming process for me got so easy. I never felt rushed or pressured during the entire process. I ended up purchasing a flush mount light and will return to purchase another fixture for my foyer. I would highly recommend visiting Amini's for any of your lighting needs. read more

We recently had a great experience working with Amini's to purchase both hand made and machine made Oriental rugs for our house. We worked with Eric who was very knowledgeable and helpful. We knew te size of the rugs we needed and had samples of room colors with us. Eric & has team patiently went through their whole inventory in the sizes we needed - no small task when guys are man handling 100+ rugs. When we identified the rugs of interested they moved them to the showroom floor where we could look at them laid out. Ultimately we had about 10 rugs delivered to our house "on approval" in 2 different deliveries. That crew was courteous and professional. We ultimately bought 3 man made & 2 machine made rugs. WORST customer experience I have ever had, We bought several items from the store, spent almost $600, when they were packing them up in the back, they damage one of the item, which they did NOT tell us about, a $270 item to be exact. They asked if we could go to lunch and come back and pick them up (which should have put a red flag up) so we did. After our 90 mile drive home, and opening up the items we realize one of the itmes was broken and glued together!! I called the store right away. The manager said it was okay if we broght it back, which was white was 180 mile round trip, at our expense we were offered NOTHING for compensation. After I made a complaint with the company I did recieve a phone call from someone, but all he said was he was sorry and that was it.... We will NEVER shop here again... The items we did keep, we foud a few weeks later at Carroll House much cheaper, but it too late to return them. Amini's has a 3 day return policy.... Careful!!! read more

We bought a patio table and chair set and was pleasantly surprised that Amini's price and quality was very competitive with the other local stores. Our salesmen bent over backwards for us with his service and advice before and after the sale. Their delivery men were super as well. They made sure the furniture was right, set it up, offered to move our other furniture in our porch and didn't leave until we were satisfied. TERRIBLE!!!! This place is great for window shopping, but purchasing, I think not. We went in and looked at the games for our kids. We were particularly interested in an air-hockey table. The salesmen was nice enough, but wanted nearly twice the amount you could get the same machine anywhere else in the country. Their answer.... We warranty our games, where others dont... The biggest problem.. You can get the same exact game on their on-line site (Named different) for several hunderd dollars less... WTF!!!! Dont even get me started on the pinball/arcade games. They are middle of the road quality, but since they have in their showroom they want 1/3 to double the actual values of the games. They just dont get it. Very uninformed sales staff that do not know their own products or what "market reality" is. I agree is is a beautiful store, in a great location and staff is helpful. We went to Aminis for a rug and to see what they had overall. We were touted from one area of the store to the next with extremely overpriced items. I read a review about the pinball machine and 100%agree. They are "good" quality but not anywhere near what is being stated by the staff. We looked at a Simpson's Pinball Party that had wear and had been restored to "better" condition, however the 5800.00 price tag as about 1400 over market value. I pointed this out to both our salesman and one of the techs and they just dont get it. I offered a fair price for the machine and it was turned down cold. I pointed out that this same machine can be bought anywhere cheaper, but they would not budge. The reasoning I kept getting for the higher costs was for a "warranty". But as I told the salesman, I dont want the 3 month warranty at an inflated price. It was like shopping at cousin Eddies used car lot. After we struck out on the pinball machine we had interest in an air hockey table. The one we liked overall was listed for 1599.00 but was on-sale for 1499. The irony is you can go onto Aminis website and get this same hockey table shipped to your home free of charge for 999.00. When I brought this up I got several answers. 1. I was told by the on-line staff they did not have this table at the store, but would gladly order. 2. Salesman had this table at the store, but the best they could do on price was 1299. It was due to the warranty I was told. Reality and this store are not in the same timezone. It was good to see what they had, but my recommendation is find what you like this price shop around. You will find it cheaper someplace else for sure. read more
