Sleep Number does have a great product and concept. I also appreciate that the franchise is not pushy or gimmicky, yet has some great sales and rewards. Our sales associate Laura was lovely, welcoming and took her time allowing us to test all the mattresses and find our specific sleep 'numbers.' The largest downfall or complaint we have is that if you buy one of their mattresses, you're basically required to purchase a Sleep Number base, frame, mattress pad and sheets due to their style and function. Without their bed frame, you will have to completely dismantle it (no joke--we had to replace our original one to buy another non-Sleep Number frame, then saw off the second/new bed frame's piece that holds up a normal mattress). Sadly, the Sleep Number bed frames and headboards are ugly. Also without their specific sheets or protective pad (which I do recommend to keep integrity and cleanliness that lasts), others' purchased elsewhere will become loose, slipping constantly and/or come off all together. Of course it is a large investment with these additional purchases. Nonetheless, our sleep is essential and we spend hours of our lives in bed. I do love the features Sleep Number offers such as feet or full body warmers/coolers, the raising of the foot and head of the bed, a split bed option, and tech features that measure your sleep patterns, heart rate, etc. The one thing I would love to see available is connectivity to Google's Alexa or Apple Home via the app. read more

I paid $6800 for a Sleep Number bed and platform. Within 18 months the bed literally " exploded". I live in the Santa Barbara area and it took 2 weeks to get an out of area representative from Sleep Number corporate. Once the repairman arrived and examined my completely deflated and mattress he announced " in my 5 years of working with Sleep Number I have NEVER seen anything like this, I will advocate for total replacement" I called the corporate number I was given.... They proposed I pay 35% of the costs to repair. I protested and they hung up on me. I never heard from them again. My only remedy appeared to be a small claims court filing. I considered it but decided to forego the aggravation. I have since learned from others they had similar experiences with Sleep Number and went back to traditional mattress. DON'T BUY A BED FROM THIS COMPANY WHATEVER YOU DO!!! THEIR POLICIES ARE TERRIBLE!!! We purchased a customized poster bed, base, and flex mattress from sleep number. We waited 6 weeks for everything to be delivered since the poster bed is customized. We counted the days and we where so excited for our new bed to arrive. It came on time and we thought everything was great up until we received the bed. The poster bed was not what we were promised, it was not the right size so it would slide side to side and back to front, for a bed of this price ($8,000), we really had high expectations, but they didn't even meet the basic ones... We contacted the store and we were told to contact the customer service hotline. When we called the customer service, It took us 2 hours of waiting time to get to anyone. If you want to resolve any issue with them you have to speak to a case manager, it took another hour to get to the right person. The first time I called, I spent 4 hours total on the phone, just trying to explain the issue. At this point we thought we were on our way to resolving the issue, they sent a few technicians to our house to fix the bed post, but they were not able to fix it because the measurements of the bedpost were too off. The technicians agreed that the product didn't fit the frame or mattress, and that they were unable to make any adjustments because the bed post was just too large for our frame and mattress. They said they would speak to their supervisor and see what they could do. They told us we would receive a call within the hour to discuss our options, but of course they never did. The next day came, and we still hadn't received a call. I had to call the technicians back several times with no avail. I left several voicemails desperately trying to get the issue resolved as soon as possible. No one called us back until 4 days later. I called Sleep Number again waiting for hours to speak with the right person. At this point, I was so frustrated dealing with them, that I had to ask them to give us a full refund cause the customer service was so terrible, and they could come pick up the bed. This is an $8,000 dollar bed, including the frame and mattress, everything should be perfect for such an extravagant cost, but it's not. Every time I see the bed it is just a reminder of how awful this company and its customer service is, we started off excited about this product, only to despise it, all due to how Sleep Number worked us around. The whole point of a bed is to relax and sleep, but this whole experience has been so ridiculously stressful that I find myself not being able to sleep out of frustration for how little they were willing to do for us. We would understand not accepting a refund if the mistake was on our part, but it wasn't. They offered to take $100 off the bed post they had screwed up on, and waive the shipping fee for the product they had gotten wrong (we still have to wait 6 weeks for it to arrive, that is not a proportional compensation for how long we have to wait... again). That is not a solution? The bed post should be free and without any charge considering all we had to go through to even try to resolve the issue (it still hasn't been resolved). The responsibility should be on sleep number for sending us the defected and wrong product, but they refused to do that. Now, I am still stuck with a defected product and have to wait another 6 weeks for them to send us a new one. Despite having spent a little over $8,000 dollars on this defected product, this is what we get from this company, no resolutions at all, just bandaids. Everyone hates a Karen, but this is easily the worst customer service experience I've ever experienced. I should mention that the customer service representatives are very polite and only doing their job, it is not the individual people we spoke to that were terrible, but rather the company policies and the organization of getting things resolved. They need to manage their hotline better. Once again, please don't buy a bed from this company, the bed isn't even worth it, nor is the headache. read more

BE WARNED - THEY ARE TAKING ORDERS THEY CANNOT FULFILL Three weeks ago I purchased a bed that Sleep Number is still actively advertising. The day of the delivery I received two calls, one to confirm delivery time and to tell us to disassemble our old bed. Just as we expected the truck, we received another call telling us they were "missing components and had no idea" when our bed would actually be delivered. It took multiple calls to customer service to discover that they were experiencing a shortage of those components and none of that style of bed were being delivered. We are still waiting. The company is still advertising this bed on every TV station, but without the disclaimer that they cannot fulfill the orders. read more

Susan was wonderful! She is helpful, knowledgeable and kind. She never made us feel pressured into buying a bed and didn't try to push us into the most expensive option. They use a pressure sensor bed to help you find your sleep number (pretty cool) and they let you try ALL the beds out to feel the differences. It felt like their main goal is to get you into a bed that is best for you. We just put ours together last night (which was easier to assemble than most IKEA furniture kits) and we're loving it! The bed feels and looks like it is made of quality materials and even has a 25 year warranty! I can sleep easy (haha) knowing that I have 100 days to return the bed if I am not 100% satisfied. Check out their financing deals they have going on... Just an idea: if you can't afford one of the nicer beds you could get a basic model and then buy a foam topper from somewhere else (Costco?). read more

I would not buy anything from this store or from sleep number period ,if you are not satisfied with your bed you have 100 days, you can return it for a full refund ,but minus the delivery and pick up and any accessories which cost me $ 620.00 for a bed I no longer have . Be careful, be very careful! My 86 year old father went into the Santa Barbara store to purchase a bed for himself and my mom. He wanted a bed they could use for now together then later be split and they could use individually.... He spent $6,853.62 on a SPLIT Cal King bed. Now, only 5 months later, my mom has to go into a memory care facility and they want to SPLIT the beds, one side go with her-one side with him.....Well, even after spending over $6,000... There is only one mattress pump and one bed frame control box. He now is looking at having to spend an additional $2,000 to split the beds or just blow-off 1/2 the bed! He could have purchased 2 separate beds for less than his initial purchase... Taking advantage of an old man???? You tell me! read more
