Okay I know they say third times a charm but I've had two instances in 2 days with the employees that I don't appreciate. Yesterday I came into the store and asked a question about shorts that didn't have a price tag. I asked if she could tell me the price she said no go find something similar and use that price. That made absolutely no sense to me so I said So I can just go find something similar and that's the price regardless if it's higher or lower than this item. After I walked away minutes later she came back and then try to assist me properly. Maybe she was having a bad day. Today I walk in the store right after they open and I guess they're having a team huddle. Right at the doorway. I had a return and I wanted to know if I needed to do the return first or if I could do the return when I purchased the other item. As I started to ask my question the lady whom I assume was the manager interrupted me and said if you have a return you can go over there. I said okay but I have a question. She said if you're returning something you can go over there and do the return so I said that's not my question. Finally I asked my question and she gave me the appropriate answer. Don't stand in front of the store where people are walking in and not expect to be interrupted. If you want to hold a team huddle or whatever it was do that in a place where you can't be interrupted not in the entrance of the store. Oh I forgot to mention the same lady that didn't want to help me on the first day was the lady to check me out on the first day and she seems as if she doesn't want to be here or maybe she just isn't a very social person. Either way it's not a good look for the store. Shout out to the lady in the dressing room though she was very kind very nice and I saw her again this morning and she smiled and say good morning and the same bright attitude. I did appreciate her level of service. Okay so I just checked out with Carolina and oh my gosh she was also amazing So I don't know what to say two amazing people and two people that were absolutely not amazing. And the lady that helped me yesterday that was rude told me to check out with Carolina and when she spoke to me didn't even make eye contact. I can't. read more

The employee Vaida is so rude. Made us feel not welcomed and rushed. We got to the register and she demanded to put the stuff on the counter. Meanwhile the guy in front of us was still there with his stuff. And they we're having problems with the payment. We put the stuff on the counter and not even a hi hello just straight scanning and asked if we wanted a bag and onto the next sale. Also double checked 20 dollar bills to see if they were real (checked 2 times) ? People like this make customers go to other stores over simple stuff. A simple hi hello how's your day going can change a lot and it really matters (common customer service) read more

At the Goleta store on a Sunday. Clean, full of inventory, but 3 visible people on the floor. One wearing a loss prevention jacket, 2 working the registers with up to 25 or so people in line. One lady has to alternate to the jewlery section as people walk in. Those people work too hard to not be staffed appropriately. read more

Ross has to find a way to train its employees. Unfriendly, unwilling, and incompetent cashier staff will ruin your shopping experience. Not worth my money and time. Never again here. read more

The cashier Vanessa is rude. My friend forgot her receipt and started walking off, and to get her attention Vanessa raised her voice to address her like "girl!" No "excuse me" or just a plain "miss." And then when my friend gave her an annoyed look, Vanessa just laughed at her. Also there were dozens of people in line and yet she moved as slowly as possible despite being the only cashier open. read more

While this location is getting a beating in reviews, my shopping experience yesterday was fine. Sure, there was a long line, but I consider that standard for Ross. Sure, some shelves had low stock, though that's a common issue during the holidays, which is only exacerbated by this year's Covid-induced supply chain problems. My only expectation was to find some gift-worthy goodies, and that expectation was met. I picked up a jug of moonshine-inspired hot sauce for under $10, a fun gag gift for $5.99, a large jar of mixed peppercorns for $3.99, and another present--won't name it because the recipient might read this!--for under a fiver. The candle selection was mostly picked clean so I didn't choose one, but there were still some left. Plenty of clothing and home goods too. The store was also quite organized. Pictures indicate that sometimes things get out of hand, however both times I've visited this location it has been pretty well kept. Check-out was smooth, with a very friendly employee, and I left in under 30 minutes. Pretty good for holiday shopping on December 22nd. read more

One person checking out over 40 people in line here on a Saturday. I am very close to leaving my $400 worth of stuff and walking out. Management here MUST be fired. They know zero about customer service or making money. You must show up to collect the $$$ I have watched 20+ people walk up to the line and walk out!! Get off your lunch breaks and talking MANAGERS clear this line. That's your job. This is my last visit to this store. Ever. Just so terrible when you pay so much to live in this city and have to drive to Oxnard to get service. Forced to give a one star they should get negative stars. read more

This store has a horrible manager with a rude behavior. Does not pay any attention to the customer and ignores. Also lets employees cut infront of lines and then lies saying the employee was in line. Clearly the employee was in return line just cutting in but lets the employee finish her checkout and when approched is very rude and creates a scene not even bothering to listen or to apologize. If you do not want to ruin your day and time don't bother shopping at this location! read more

Why is that ridiculous fire alarm twittering? It's been making that awful sound for over a year?! Weird and unwelcoming. I don't get it. read more

Ok I'm not going to lie... my Ralph Lauren duvet cover that everyone loved while I was a student at UCSB ... from Ross. Most of my pop-collared Polo shirts (yes even the teal one) from Ross. Bathroom shower caddy, Ralph Lauren bath towels and beach towels and even a few of my swimsuits (all well known labels as I used to be a label whore) from Ross. My BCBG heels... you get the picture. I know how to shop for what I want even in a zoo of a place like this. You just need a little patience and you end up saving yourself hundreds in the long run. read more

I haven't been to this one, but I have been to the Ross in Five Points, and it's really cleaned-up well, easy to get around, good deals on clothes, although not a good selection of vintage baseball caps anymore. But I DO know that Deborah Manning now works at Ross as a manager, and Deborah is the person who took the customer service at K-Mart from the hellish shithole it was to true excellence, and ever since she left and went to Ross K-Mart has reverted to its old ways of shite service and general choas and indifference. read more

Just another "mmmeeehh", Run of the mill Ross- nothing special. Have learned one has to go down South to LA or Orange County for reasonable quality clothes at significant price discounts- that's simple reality. They don't exist in SB area otherwise. read more

I stood in the checkout line for over 30 minutes. They have 9 registers but were only using TWO. In the HOLIDAY SEASON. Not worth it.

Some good finds and deals here but their customer service is atrocious. All their employees look and behave like they took a major bong hit before cruising in to work. Also, when I tried to return a pack of socks that cost me $9.99 they only gave me $6.99 because the price had since decreased. I didn't have my receipt but the price tag was right there on the package of socks. LUDICROUS. read more

I've decided that paying more than $10 for flats is a waste of money since I end up walking through them so quickly. Ross is the perfect solution. I almost always find cute flats either on clearance or I'll even sometimes pitch in the extra couple bucks for regularly priced shoes. This Ross is definitely better than the one back home and I have found some great finds here. When people ask me where I get *insert product,* I have been known to occasionally utter embarrassingly their slogan, "I got it at Ross" read more

The first time I entered this Ross I found it in horrible condition and left after several minutes. Recently I returned and what a difference. The store is clean, clerks friendly and like the other Ross had items in my size, I'm a 0-1. The dressing rooms are in the back and in nice shape. The items here range from lamps to clothes and nearly everything in between. We even purchased our table wear here. Its a name brand which is nice and heavy at only $10 for a serving of four. I have so many items from Ross around my house. This is a good store if you need toiletries, clothes, bedding and household goods. I'll be returning in the future. read more

Generally I love Ross, however many of the employees seem to loathe their jobs and do not pay close attention to checking out customers and removing the heavy duty security tags with the ink attached to items such as rugs and clothing. Last week I went in got some jeans for my three year old, for some reason the security tag was placed inside the back pocket of these toddler jeans. Unbeknownst to me I took the price tags off and put the jeans on my three year old. I couldn't understand why she was screaming crying bloody murder until I took them off and found the pin needle from the security tag in the back pocket of these children's jeans with the stabbing needle stick thru the inside of her pant leg. Needless to say I guess I can't rely on people to properly do their jobs. Poor kid has a gash on her thigh now. read more

Don't waste your time. The stock is terrible, the place is understaffed and clearly not motivated- and the last time I was out there, I promised myself I'd never go again. And I won't. It's sad and scary how much plastic and polyester crap is cluttering up the place, with little if any decent-quality merchandise available. Virtually every aisle had merchandise laying on the floor, creating not only a safety hazard but an impossible shopping experience. I brought this to the attention of the barely-old-enough-to-vote manager on duty, and the deer-in-the-headlights look in his eyes left me with precious little confidence that my concerns would ever be addressed. The women's clothing racks are skimpy at best, ridiculously bare at worst. If you don't love polyester, you might as well not even bother looking. The Five Points store is better stocked; but still, that's not saying much, unless you REALLY like polyester. The security guards have a bigger presence than the sales people. There's a bare minimum of checkout clerks working, which I can understand, because it's rare that there are ever more than a couple of people in line, winding their way through a labyrinth of candy and plastic water bottles for sale, to tempt your crying children while you wait. On rare occasions when they first opened, you used to be able to find some decent housewares, a wall mirror, artwork- and at the perfectly right time even some bargains on shoes. But nowadays, the shoes are wired up with so many anti-theft tags, cords and wires that a bomb squad would have trouble untangling them. There is apparently no simple way to try a pair of shoes on and take a short walk in them, without going to the checkout lines first and waiting until you can get someone to 'cut the cords' for you. It's a shame, really. The concept was good at one time, but nowadays everything seems to have gone downhill in the search for the cheapest goods to be sold at the cheapest price, while paying your employees the least possible wages, unconcerned about their low morale (...and yes, I talked several of them; they're miserable, but "a job is a job", especially in this town), and the omnipresent highest concern for preventing theft. And if you're wondering where the plastic that's choking our oceans literally to death is coming from, look at the products and the packaging in this store. When do we say "enough"? read more

The employee at the fitting room with the light brown hair talks bad about her customers in spanish so those that don't speak it don't understand. On top of that she told me I couldn't take my cart into the fitting room, so I left it outside with some stuff, and when I came back out my cart and all my stuff was gone and when I asked what happened to my cart her response was "I don't know, I took a bathroom break" I'm the rudest attitude, she needs to go. read more

Find that many items are broken, chipped, or they don't have a good stock of items. It also bothered me that I called them to see if they offer shopping cart pick-ups when people leave them in neighborhoods (shame on you, cart thieves!) and the young woman laughed at me when I asked...she didn't even try to appease me with asking where it is or telling me she'd tell her supervisor. It showed me that their employees don't really care about their community reputation. read more

Ross is the most amazing store I have ever come across, there are so many hidden treasures in that store you can be sucked in for hours mindlessly wandering the different selections of apparel, electronics, shoes, etc. The staff is friendly for the most part but, you will be there for the deals and they are a plenty! read more

Looking for a nice decorative planter for my cube I decieded to check and see if Ross had one, for they are known to be a lot less than anywhere else. They like to treat you like your a thief. I went to the dressing room and the girl counted all of my clothes one by one while checking the inside of of my clothing. She then grab all of my clothes and patted them together as to make sure I didn't hide anything. I came out and she did the same exact same thing and she wouldn't let me walk away unless she patted down all of the clothes I brought back out which is ridiculous bc she did the exact same thing when I went in! Did she think I was going to smuggle something out of the dressing room? Idk if this Ross has a problem with stealing but that doesn't mean that you should treat all of you customers like they're thieves! I swear I'm never going back, they need to find a better solution and practice better customer service. read more

I went into the Goleta location to return an electric razor that had been previously used. which I was patient about even though yesterday I was pretty mad that they would sell it. I brought my 5 year old and we waited in the return/exchange line. Four people behind the counter, two look like managers and two associates. My daughter and I wait for a few minutes even letting another guest go first because the associate at the farthest register said "next purchase." When my daughter and I were the only one in line the same associate said next purchase. I said I have a return. Granted they've not all acknowledged that they skipped me and could have already helped us, then what seemed like a manager with no name tag told me I could leave for being angry. We returned the filthy razor and went about our business trying to find another razor that wasn't used but the situation made me too uncomfortable to buy anything. I took my girl through the toy section because she had waited so long but I made a point of not buying anything today. Service really needs to improve at this location. this is not the first time we were mistreated in this store. Just the first time I'm reviewing it. Where else can you get brand names, brand new, decent quality and a diverse selection? Kitchen selection is great and the athletic wear is as well. And can't forget about the shoes..ahh, the shoes..every time I go, it's always clean and organized vs. the upper State St. location. Worst management and supervisors ever!! I went in recently to purchase some things, and item I wanted did not have a price I had found a similar item I wanted (wanting both) took both up to the front. One you could tell was more expensive (better quality, had a price tag and a sensor) I was informed the other item would be more expensive. I asked where the the person at the counter came up with that number as she did not look up anything, or call for an associate. She said it's a default amount. I asked if she was a manager since usually managers override prices. She said she wasn't (Val never informed me she was a supervisor). So I asked for corporates number to ask policy cause the associate didn't even try to look for it. I was given the store I was at number. I called and spoke to a manager named angel who told me that there policy is to get a Sales associate to go and look for a price or you could bring up a similar item. If a similar item is not found they have different skus (that they can use for generic prices). I told her I brought over almost the exact same item and she wouldn't accept that. She said it has to be the same brand, I told her that's not what you said to me. She then informed me that items with sensors are more expensive. This didn't make sense as the item with a sensor had a price and it was less then she was telling me the other item (missing a tag) would be. She then tried to tell me its cause they didn't have any other staff to go look. I told the manager again that did not make sense because I spoke to 2 sales associates on the floor, a loss prevention employee, the supervisor who was my checkout girl and the manager. She said every issue is different. I then asked for corporates number again because at this time the manager was not being helpful. She gave me Ross gift card number. I went back in and asked for it again where angel (the manager) told me that was the only number she had and I would need to call them and have them help me. The gift card people don't even work for Ross! The 2 normal associates I spoke to were nice and tried to help, the management and supervisors are not able to communicate policy properly, the management continued to change what they were saying but all I wanted to know was policy. The transaction was handled properly after speaking to corporate Ross but unfortunately Angel the manager didn't seem to know procedure so she was unable to communicate it properly making it look as if a supervisor didn't do what she was suppose to do. Also if a customer asks for a corporate number that's what they should be given they shouldn't be told to go and find it. read more

Clean and the service is OK. I do like it better than the store in SB, which seems very cluttered and dirty.

Good place to pick up towels and random kitchen supplies. Usually can find what you are looking for...

Super clean and organized, better stuff than other Ross' I've been in.. Love it!
