I decided to get a cartilage piercing done and Slaves to Ink had the best reviews. I went in and explained what I wanted to Jonathan. He was very friendly and made sure I knew exactly what was going on. It was over pretty quickly and I was on my way. Three days later I decided to go down and get my nipples done. Once again, Jonathan was professional and friendly and he talked me through both piercings. I couldn't be more pleased with my piercings. They're healing nicely and they were affordable. i got the worst tattoo of my life here for 60$ i cried after i left the shop. the owner was really nice but the work is just flat out terrible. he went too deep in my skin so the tattoo hurt like a bitch, and then when it healed the lines blew out, i told the owner i wanted a dainty tattoo and left with something that looks like it was written in sharpie. i have to get a cover up now because of this place #:( read more

Armando or (mondo) had decent work before, I gave him a simple tattoo...his lines are not good at all now too shakey and honestly it was irritating trying to tell him how I wanted my tattoo just cause he kept expressing how he felt like it should be tatted on me. I should have known I was doomed from that point on...definitely take your time and find yourself a good/great artist with good/great feedback that's just the truth of it read more

Called last night for a last min appointment today to get my sister a tattoo. Armando was AMAZING. She showed him a picture of what she wanted (a small Tinkerbell and owl) and asked him to do some customizing on Tinkerbell's wings. Not only did he get that done, he did a particularly beautiful job on the eyes of both Tink and the owl super friendly, very informative, and very patient with us and making sure my sister got exactly what she wanted. Price is very reasonable, shop was clean, all staff was super friendly. Sometimes you just walk into a shop and just know that that's the one you want to be in, and that's what Slaves to Ink is. My sister is extremely happy with the work that was done, thank you so much! read more

Just recently got my bridge pierced here with Jonathan. I was a walk in since I had decided to get it done in the spur of the moment even though I had planned on getting it done eventually. I called in and they were about to close and decided to wait for me (thank you, once again!!). I was extremely nervous and scared, but once I walked in I felt very comfortable! JONATHAN IS AMAZING. I've got multiple piercings and it's always been super clean and he's super professional. I recently got my 3 dermals from my face removed and although I was scared of the procedure because I heard they would have to slice it off, that wasn't the case with Jonathan. He was able take them out without having to cut my face open which would've resulted in nasty scars. It's been 2 weeks now and they have healed amazingly. Thanks again Jonathan for the awesome work and for being not just professional but always gentle. Definitely recommend to anyone wanting any type of piercing. read more

All though I've never gotten a tattoo from here everyone is really friendly. I have several piercings and can honestly say that after going to Jonathan I'll never let anyone else pierce me. He's given me great experience after great experience. Although he's pierced me almost 10 times already, needles still scare me and He's always super patient, and gentle. He really cares about his customers and their well being. I would highly recommend this place. I live in riverside and have no problem driving to el monte just to pay them a visit. read more

I know I'll never come back here for a tattoo again. I got my first tattoo here done by Mando and I hated it. It was crooked, there were a lot of spots missing ink..you can tell it was rushed -.- It was during the summer so I purposely went in the pool the next day I got it. I ended up getting it redone by my girlfriend's Nino and he did an amazing job. the shop was nice though. Mando was cool but his tattooing sucks. read more

To start off I came here to get my first tattoo, I just got a simple word and after a few months the ink started to fade and you can see where the ink came off. It was pretty cheap but now I see why, you pay for what you get. I even have another friend who got two tattoos from here and the tattooing is sloppy and you can see where they messed up luckily I didn't get a big tattoo here. My brother even came here to get a bigger tattoo and looking at it you can see that it's not the best. I went to another tattoo shop to get a bigger tattoo and they did a great job the lines are more straighter and not shakyand the ink doesn't fade. read more

I cannot begin to describe how much I loved this place from the moment I walked in. Jonathan was the most patient and detailed person I have ever met at a tattoo shop. I wanted the design to be smaller, there was something wrong with the printer that day and the shop assistant had trouble making the stencil smaller. After a couple of tries Jess starts roid raging and slams the clipboard on the counter (I kid you not) and said something like whatever man I'll hook you up, meaning he's willing to tattoo it bigger for me even though I didn't want it that size. Wow, geez thank you your majesty Jess Yen, I am so blessed to get something I didn't want after watching you act out violently. Years later I decided to try again, this time with his apprentice Lucy. I had a phone consultation with her and she agreed to do my tattoo saying that her wait time is 2-3 years. I agreed and paid her a deposit. It's been more than 10 years now and I have not heard from her or gotten my deposit back. When I reached out to her, she tried to gaslight me saying that I missed my appointment. I was never informed of an appointment. First the owner display questionable emotional stability over something a little as resizing the stencil and then his apprentice scams me for a few hundred dollars. Yeah, this place gets negative stars if I could.

A little over a year later, I ended up paying another artist to completely cover it with the design I originally wanted in the first place (for the same price). I know every artist has their own process and style, and I'm sure some people have had great experiences, but mine unfortunately wasn't one of them.

By this time Kaythleen had earned the title of Tattoo Artist. She was no longer an apprentice. I had been wanting to do a full leg sleeve of the Darkside characters of Star Wars. Mainly sidious, maul, and vader. She was again very excited to take on this challenge and make it happen. While we were already impressed by her b/w portraits and lines prior to getting our pieces done, she delivered a caring and thoughtful experience that has led us to return to her on occasion. ... After getting a few small pieces done at Anvil -- a place that has always provided a reliable, safe, and comfortable space for me-- I was looking for an artist for my pops, who at the age of 61, wanted to immortalize our Pekingese whom he essentially raised from birth. After coming across Kaythleen's work on Anvil's socials, we were really impressed by her b/w portraits and line work, and decided to book an appointment. Not only did she deliver an amazing piece, but she also helped foster a core experience for my father who shared that she was patient, kind, and meticulous. Ever since, I have had multiple pieces done by Kaythleen -- the most recent of which was a miniature line portrait of our family home and of our Jack Russell. My mother, who was never big on ink felt compelled to get a small piece done and is scheduled in for another. It's become a true family affair!

Molly sits in a loft area that overlooks the shop, which feels very throne-like. She was super sweet, made sure I was comfortable, even gave me an emotional support plushie just in case I needed it. Parking is plentiful and next to the building, it looks like it's only for Bowhaus, but it isn't.

Back when i was 16 i got my hips pierced with dermals by jonathan and he was very professional. I told him about my needle phobia and he assured me everything was going to be fine and he walked me through it . Today i went in to get my industrial ear piercing of course by Jonathan. I walked in nervous as hell jonathan then greeted me and took me to his office. He made small talk remembering my needle phobia. He then asked me if i was ready and he did the piercing really quick.! When he was finished with the piercing he explained the cleaning procedure and informed me how to take care of the piercing. My sisters and I got small matching tattoos done by Manny Ray and he was absolutely amazing! He was quick, precise, and very friendly. He made sure all of us got what we wanted and he sketched out design in a timely manner. Because all of us got it done back to back, we saw him clean his equipment and his entire station with care and caution. We were all very comfortable with him as our artist and we will definitely come back to him if we decide to have another tattoo. Went in a month ago to get my nose pierced and the guy there was great! It was my first time getting a piercing, besides my ears. He explain all the steps and took very good care of me with an amazing price! High recommend!!!!! Went back again to get my nose re pierced bc I got drunk and lost my piercing and in the time I didn't have the piercing on the hole closed. The guy there hooked me up and did another amazing job!! I have been debating whether or not to get my nipples pierced due to the pain, turns out that it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. Johnathan is the only piercer i know and have been to that checks the veins in your tongue before piercing you to ensure that it is safe, the only piercer I know that makes sure the job that the job doing is safe for your body period, very experienced, nice, and patient and the only person I go to to poke holes in my body :) read more
