I'm going to give an update to this review. Overall the experience was amazing great conversation with Eddie Lee. The man did his job and provided such great detail to my tattoo. On a second note however I was trying to complete my tattoo and make a schedule for the next appointment so I did. As the appointment was following up Eddie asked if I can reschedule due to a dentist appointment and is I said most definitely and I asked when are you available he never responded. I asked the next week and he still didn't respond either. I waited two weeks and he still did not respond so then after I was a bit worried because I had put a deposit down. This is where it's my fault as he asked would you like a receipt for the deposit and i just denied it I'm thinking he was just going to give me his word that we will definitely have this tattoo finished lol well I was wrong. He finally texted me month later and was asking when can we set a date and I asked what is your availability. Guess what happens next he doesn't reply... this happened for the next 2-3 months to the point where I was fed up... Eddie is absolutely amazing. He has such a steady hand and tattoos with much patience and precision. He is very nice, kind, and thoughtful! His freehand florals are breathtaking. I made an appointment with him through text and sent him some pictures for a general idea of what I wanted. I knew I wanted peonies, and where I wanted it, but I let him work his magical freehand skills on my body!! Throughout drawing the design on my skin, he kept stopping and asking me about details and if I liked it so far, and the continuing. The tattoo process was faster than I expected!! I just got the best tattoo from Eddie! He is a true artist and it was such a pleasant tattoo experience. I gave him several pieces of inspiration and it was really beautiful to see how he put his own artistic touch on what my mind was hoping to create. He took the art and formed it to my body perfectly. In October of 2016 I got a floral arm piece at another shop that I was unhappy with. I was referred to Anthony by my dad. My dad has been to Anthony several times for multiple tattoos and hasn't had one problem. After looking at his work, I decided to contact him sometime in May 2017 about fixing up my floral piece, as well as getting a smaller moth piece above my knee. It took a few weeks for us to finally set a date to simply consult in person. After consulting in person, we scheduled an appointment for a date in June 2017 in which we decided we would do both my arm and the moth in one sitting. However, this was not the case as he claimed he wasn't feeling well my first session. Every session I've gone to with him has been during their opening hours so either 12 or 1pm. I was always his first client of the day. Later on, he posted a photo on Instagram of another tattoo he claimed to have done that day which led me to think he was dishonest. We had already set a price for what I wanted done and my arm wasn't complete so we opted to schedule another appointment in which we'd finally finish the arm as well as start and finish the moth. This time he had a tooth ache and we had to end early. I understand things like this happen and I was okay with the idea of leaving but it wasn't until weeks later that he finally got back to me about finishing my moth. I already hated the idea of redoing my arm piece with a different artist but he surprised me in the way he fixed it up and made it look like a brand new tattoo. Although I was happy with my fixed floral piece, he left me with an unfinished outline of the moth in this next session. I texted his phone and even went as far as to messaging him on Instagram and commenting on his posts just so that he could he could see. Communication was always poor and I always felt as if customer service was simply not a priority to him. Anyway, he proceeded to complete my outline as well as add some color in late August of 2017. I was hoping this would be the last time because I live in Pasadena and the drive was a bit much to keep making, only for the result to be little progress each time. We finally finished the moth, color and all, and about a month after it healed, I noticed that some of the fine lines in the moth were disappearing. The color was also very patchy. Again, I didn't want another artist to contribute to his tattoo so I contacted him and had the same problem. He was just not responding, and when he would respond, he wasn't very clear. I contacted him mid- September and heard nothing back. I messaged him again in November on the 21st asking if we could touch up my moth tattoo as well as add a moon. He agreed to a date and time for that same week, but then texted me hours later saying he actually wasn't available. We chose another date and time in which he actually forgot about our appointment. I drove to the shop and he was not there and even admitted to forgetting. He apologized and offered to "hook me up for free" the following day. I showed up the next day and he fixed my moth, and added the moon. This last and most recent session felt rushed and I was just over the whole thing at this point. The moth design I chose was simple and the little details were what made it special. He went over certain details with harsher lines or color and didn't bother to fix them. Once the session was over, he asked me to pay the original price we initially agreed on, after already saying he would hook me up for the mistakes he made. I paid him and left the shop frustrated. It sucks because I really wanted to like him. His work and prices were good but communication was just not there. In my opinion, if an artist doesn't want to tattoo a certain design then they should be honest upfront and in the beginning. Don't agree to something you're not going put effort into and only do when you have extra time, because that's what my whole experience felt like. read more

About the artist, Freddy Robbles: I was referred to Freddy by a mutual friend who grew up with him. Naturally, I was a bit skeptical when you get the ol', "Oh you want a tattoo? My friend is an artist." but all that was put to rest when I saw his work. Freddy has a unique style that he makes his own. I could go on all day about how talented he is, but really his work speaks for itself. I couldnt have been happier with how my piece came out, and I will definitely be back for more work in the future. About the shop itself: The first thing I thought when I walked into their shop was, "These guys are not only tattoo artists, they are artists in the purest sense." Lots of their artwork is around the shop, which shows what kind of pride they take in their work. The shop is very tidy, everything put away in its place, the crew is really laid back, often walking over and inspecting each other's work and interacting with each other. So like most tattoo aficionados I've had this specific tattoo design in mind. Finally came around to pulling the trigger on it due to the fact that I had a clear day from work and personal obligations. I heard of The Ink Shop through two coworkers who have had multiple sessions and really nice pieces there with the owner Johnny Quintana. A well known artist in the tattoo culture community. Being that I recently relocated to Pasadena it was a short drive to the Ink Shop in Arcadia. I booked a session with Big Danny Lopez. Dude seemed really chill, sorta quiet but I could tell he is serious use about his craft. After a brief explanation about what I had in mind he seemed eager to take on my tatt although it seemed like his expertise is Black and Grey and some really clean fine line Script lettering. I was looking for a traditional style anchor in color with a banner wrapped around it. Props to Big Danny for being receptive to what I was asking for. We bounced off ideas leading to the day of my session and he nailed the design after a few sketches. Needles to say, he was professional, focused and open to ideas and suggestions. It was one of the best tattoo experiences I've had. His lines are clean and his color was well packed. I will be booking him again for a Script Lettering tattoo very soon. I'm only able to give a review on the customer service and not the actual art work because unfortunately my tattoo appointment had to be cancelled by Eddie Lee, because he said that his office was not ready after they had been given the green light to reopen up after COVID-19 regulations. My appointment was supposed to be on 6/23/2020... They were able to open up 6/19/2020.. and I confirmed my appointment with my $150 deposit in January!! Considering everything that is happening, it would've been nice to get a text as heads up that the office was not going to be ready & that I was going to have to reschedule. And if this is happening then wouldn't the customer be able to have the choice whether to reschedule or get your deposit back for the inconvenience? Mind you he's pushing me all the way to November!! & he says that they dont do a refund on deposits even though the deposit goes directly towards the tattoo?! I got my first tattoo done by Eddie last Friday and I'm absolutely obsessed! My first experience couldn't have gone any better. A good friend of mine recommended Eddie to me and showed me his past work on Instagram (@eddiexbird). He does amazing freehand floral designs and is usually booked for a while; I waited around 3 months for my appointment. The day of my appointment, I came in and he immediately spent around 20 minutes drawing the design on me with sharpies. As he began fine-tuning the details, he constantly paused and asked me if I liked it so far. He was very flexible and open to changes, asking whether I wanted fewer leaves or if I liked the size of the flowers. I told Eddie that I was super nervous about the pain because I didn't know what to expect, but it wasn't bad at all and I really appreciated how he made sure I was okay throughout the rest of the session. He really took his time to make sure all the details were perfect and we were done in about 3.5 hours. Overall, Eddie was very friendly and professional! CONS: * More expensive than most places to get a bellybutton piercing ($50- versus $35- somewhere else) *Told me that they accept credit cards but didn't tell me that they charged $5.00 extra for this privilege (if I would've known that, I would've just stopped off at the ATM before I went). *The place was SO LOUD that I couldn't hear a word the piercer was saying, so I felt really scared about what was happening and I couldn't follow his directions. *My piercing came out crooked. *I didn't get any aftercare instructions (paperwork-wise) or antiseptic solution bottle to clean the piercing with (c'mon, even Claire's does that). I was tattooed by Freddy this week. HE IS AMAZING! He put together a tattoo that I probably could have explained better. He nailed what I wanted and Incorporated stuff that I didn't realize would have made a difference. I cannot stop looking at my tattoo and smiling. I was also happy to see the shop is HUGE! Another person was getting a fairly large tattoo and I didn't feel like we were sitting on top of each other but could converse easily. There was also street traffic and I never felt like I was being gawked at by random people that walked into the shop. But, I was able to see the other artist interact with them and see some of their work as well. I would go to anyone of them for more work...However, I feel like I found my artist in Freddy. During my tattoo, yes...IT HURT, but He was very up front w/what to expect and it was not my 1st. I did not bleed a drop druing my session and Freddy was very aware of and if I needed a break. (thank goodness) Of course Freddy reiterated how to keep it clean and what to avoid. This is by far the best healing I have ever had for a tattoo....it's been a couple days and thus far zero scabbing, zero 'goo' and zero bleeding. I went there because my friend had one her whole leg about two weeks and she LOVED IT! I didn't want to go somewhere new that I had no feedback on. This was my first tattoo after. I went and asked for Anthony, he came out, told him what I wanted, unfortunately he couldn't do it because he had someone else. He said anyone could do what I wanted..a small bow/ribbon on my finger. I asked the other artist Danny a few questions and I was ready to go. I had my list of questions and the guys there were ready to answer them.
