I have brought my friends and family here for several years, and despite truck stop, style service, as a model, I have tried to recommended the cafe because I think its historically significant and thusly important to the community. It has providedan opportunity for old fly boys to reminisce and kids to become entrusted as the keepers of the stories of there elders. Those recommendations however have, on Sunday morning ended. Fridays a couple a month for three years, I have been bringing my son and he has loved it. The service and situation, which transpired has forever ruined that restaurant for me. My nephew and niece were awaiting us as we arrived and we were immediately offered coffee which is were the friendly service ended. As we declined we were offered no other opportunity to get any other beverages, it was coffee or nothing. When we asked for a drink for the kiddo it seemed A little more time than it took our server to roll her eyes, she had basically checked out. So I asked what the special was, and it was the same special they always have. Enough chicken fried steak for a small tribe with all the trimmings, or the. Most expensive item Less two dollars. As it was huge. I recommended my nephew tried the cinnamon roll, because I had tried it before and it was good. WAS good, was! Let's talk further about the breakfast pastry and then we will get back to the service. First of all it came out smaller than normal like it had fallen, but it wasn't rolled at all, it was essentially just a large wad of unleavened white dough. There was no Cinnamon and it wasn't rolled. the center was thusly not cooked all the way. The recipe or Ingredient's. Might not have changed, but whomever was making them must have either A.) Moved on or B.) Quit trying. When I told the waitress that he didn't like it and asked if we could just pay for 1\2 of it since he couldn't eat the part that was uncooked, and gross she promptly, got her manager. This is where truck stop waitress service model comes Into play the boss lady told me, once again how few people had complained (no one ever) about the "rolls" she further told me that " you don't get to just try something new on the menu and just pay what you'd like for things and if I couldn't afford to try something new I should have ordered a half order." I told her since that wasn't a cinnamon roll it didn't meet the ci a o. Roll expectation. I walked up to the counter a moment later and told her that I had worked as a chef and restaurant manager for 15 years and it wasn't good form to yell at or Insult a guest. She reminded me of my status on the AHole list and tore up the bill In my hand. She started yelling at me and told the people at my table to leave, ripped there guest check up and told me I was an as$h@1e and that I should never come back. So she swore In front of my toddler and niece, nephew, my mother and my wife and about fifty other patrons. I asked her why she spilled all over my niece as she was yanking back her food, she told me to get out or she would call the police. So she took a 95.00 loss just to keep from writing off $2.12 worth of uncooked dough. With decisions like that it won't be long until someone else is verbally abused by this Woman. Oh and by the way I looked at an old picture of the cinnamon rolls they served there 2 years ago and they are totally different now, and you mam are only deluding yourself. There's a lot of choices for breakfasts in this town and the food and terribleness we experienced will lead me to not only never come back but I will do you one better and just wait til you run it into the ground and become a regular of the next owner.
I suggested that icing or frosting might be popular, I was told that they In 72 years have never, Never changed the recipe and not one person. Had prior to us had anything bad to say about it. read more
