We left a message on their phone in the evening, and the next morning Axel showed up at 8 a.m. (they don't open until 9) to see what needed repair. Without a moment's hesitation, he took the lid to his store and ordered the replacement part, special delivery. Then, knowing it would take a few days for the part to arrive, removed a lid from a similar washer that was on display, and gave it to me for temporary use. Three days later the part had arrived, the lid repaired, and was back on my washer. And all done with a smile. And treated as warranty work, with no charge to me. Even though it was my fault. This the kind of customer service that you will never get from a big-box store.

It involves finding something wonderful, unexpected, or beneficial while not actively searching for it. Dan at "We-Fix" exemplifies this definition. Two years ago we needed an authorized appliance repair service for a Samsung dryer and called "We-Fix". We were very pleased with Dan's service. This past week we needed an authorized repair for our Dacor double wall ovens and at the top of the reviews was "We-Fix". It was a challenging effort and Dan was very diligent and determined to fix our problem. He is by far the best appliance service person we have ever experienced; knowledgeable, skilled, personable and absolutely delightful.

They referred me to Nutter appliance - I am so glad they did. We sent them pictures and videos of the freezer and they were able to diagnose the problem. The technician repaired only one burner and said the other would need to be drilled out. Within two weeks, the repaired burner stopped igniting and began clicking again. When we complained, we were told we had been warned the repair might not work, WHICH WAS NOT OUR UNDERSTANDING. We requested the burner to be fixed or a partial refund, but the owner became argumentative and refused responsibility, saying it was our decision to proceed. Because of the failed repair and poor customer service, we cannot recommend Nutter Appliance.

UPDATE: Jack must have had a cancellation in his schedule…read moreand called to let me know he had some time available today. He came directly over once I confirmed. The result was nothing short of perfect. Because Jack was kind enough to answer my questions over the telephone ahead of time, he had a pretty good idea about what to troubleshoot when he arrived. He replaced a malfunctioning fan, looked over some other parts, and just like that our Thanksgiving plans were literally back on the table! And did we get taken hostage on price given that this was a "must-fix-now" emergency? Nope. In fact, the price was shockingly lower than I would have expected, just over $200. Jack is what I would call a traditional (aka "Old-school") business owner. He is a decent person, honest/value driven, communicates superbly and obviously has the skillset required to successfully repair so many types of appliances. This is one of the few 5-star generating businesses that truly hit the mark. Also want to share this. After I called Jack and was told his schedule was booked for a few days, I called another place and had a repairman come out. He quoted us $780.00 after looking at the unit for 45 seconds (literally). I was standing right there shaking my head and asking him to inspect more closely. He said, "Why, it is obvious what the problems are." He then told me the parts are out of stock. Then things went from feeling dirty to sleazy. He said his company had a fridge that could be delivered the same day for only $3,499.00. That's when I realized I really screwed up. Never call a repairman who works for company that also has a showroom of appliances for sale. Jack's number is now safely stored in my contacts!
