They don't stop spamming you once they get your contact info. I've received numerous emails for roles that are blatantly not in my wheelhouse. They don't bother to actually look at your resume and are only interested in collecting your data. During a phone call with one of their "recruiters", I was asked to: - Provide a list of every place I've applied to - Tell them exactly how much I made at my previous employer - Provide them with contact info of other engineers looking for employment - Change my resume to suit them HARD PASS. These questions / demands are bloody absurd. Stay away from them. read more

I had an engagement with this company back with 2014 with Mr Steve Carlton and Ms Victoria Wood. In my initial call with them on 5/23/2014, they had a very rude attitude and they were suggesting me to pursue areas I was not interested. So, I decided not to continue with them for the fact that I did not feel they are trustworthy. My mailbox and phone is flooded with the emails/calls since 2014. These people will NOT stop calling me. I had a bad experience with them years ago, told them I will NEVER work with them again, and they don't respect that. I actually just called them back (I've just been blocking and reporting as spam the numbers) to tell them that the next time they call, I'm going to pretend to be interested just far enough to talk to the companies and let them know how sleezy these people are, but no one answered (even though I called back 26 minutes after their call) and the mailbox is full, so I guess this is how they're going to find out. My experience with Skyrocket revolved around Kipp, who set me up with my current job. Which I love. He was an honest, sharp, and efficient guy who understood what I was looking for in a job. In general, he exemplifies the advantages of working with a recruiting agent: 1. He's a connection to opportunities that aren't publicly listed on LinkedIn or Angel List. This is often where the tastiest opportunities are. 2. He knows the mind game referred to as an "application process." What does your interviewer want to see? What is your hiring manager thinking? How can you make the best impression on this person? His insight into the human aspect of a job search is an excellent complement to any technical job-seeker. 3. He is very experienced in negotiating compensation. This was clutch: I really don't think I'd have been able to negotiate a better starting package myself, and the peace of mind that comes with that is priceless. They have a well set up process to get your job requirements, conduct interviews, drive the timeline etc. Quality of candidates was from average to excellent, so you have to make sure you vet the candidates. I've hired candidates through Skyrocket at two different companies. Most recruiters spend their searching for people who are on the point of quitting their job. When they catch a fish, they spam every company in their database with that resume, hoping to be the first to put Candidate A in front of Company B. It's like day trading. Skyrocket are long term investors. They build relationships with people who may have no interest in leaving their current job and with companies who may not be hiring anyone today. They grill both sides to understand their needs and desires. I can see from another review here that this can feel like a waste of time. It's not. The payoff for me is that almost every candidate they've sent me has gotten an onsite interview here. (For other firms, it's less than 10%. Those firms waste my time, and I think they're wasting the time of the candidates they represent.) Highly recommended. read more
