I can't get enough of PTP!…read more Close to two years ago I nearly solidified my decade long tenure at Alameda county working as an EA with CIOs and CTOs as long as I can remember. I wanted a job sector change and venture out what's out there. I tried many opportunities with two other hiring firms but both have been discriminating against my previous experience. This one other particular firm interviewed me and told me my EA background in government is laughable. After many years of public engagement, being trusted by my executives, actually thinking I was a bigger part of something in my career, I had one other hiring agency told me I wasn't worth it. It hurt so much. It wasn't until my friend told me about PTP. I was already traumatize with hiring agencies I wanted to bypass PTP altogether. So flashback to 1.5 years ago. I placed in an application through LinkedIn and was immediately contacted by Sue, Jackie, and Rebecca. I went to interview at their Palo Alto location (an actual chic office and not some shanty bedroom/house converted office) and immediately wanted to get to know me. Rebecca sat down with me and listened to my needs. Why I was searching. Why want venture capital? Why go after start ups? What was your culture like in government sector? I couldn't believe my eyes. Rebecca was acting like that one friend who always wants updates on you. It didn't feel like an interview, it felt like you were sitting down at brunch and talking casually with Rebecca and giggling, just enjoying atmosphere and talking about career. I left their office in good graces. Sure enough, they had 2 JDs for EA and EA/OM after two weeks. I got a job at a VC firm! Ladies and gentlemen, top recruiting is not about making money. These recruiters know that you are already a good fit at the start, they will help you mold into it. Other hiring agencies could benefit from this tip. Thank you so much Premier Talent Partners! I would 100% recommend!

I first submitted a profile which was very easy to do. They do a good job cutting the barriers to employment. Within a day, I was contacted by Julia B. We set up an initial interview to just get to know me. We had such a pleasant conversation. Despite the current Pandemic Crisis we are in, we were able to discuss our thoughts on the situation because it is unavoidable, then we proceeded to the interview. It was smooth, she was clearly an eloquent communicator and very passionate about her job. She informed me next steps and we were done in our allotted 15 minute time frame. Julia continued to be responsive. She provided me two emails. Just two. One to set up the interview with the recruiter with tips included (bonus) and one to confirm my interview. The day of, she reminded me of the interview via 1 text. Then there was Grace S. The interview was scheduled for 30 minutes. Get two HR Professionals in a room that truly understand service for others and what the HR profession is about and you will quickly notice 30 minutes is not a lot of time. Grace is the recruiter you want by your side. She takes the time to know you by listening to you, actively, and she takes an interest in what makes you, you. That is exactly what a recruiter needs to do. One that can present you completely. Not just by resume, but really "go to bat for you." You instantly feel safe and trust when you speak with her. She is honest and she is open. In times of where we really need to earn people's trust, Grace goes the extra mile to earn it. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation and her blunt honesty. As an 15+ year HR professional, this was pleasant experience and a great choice for me. Julia and Grace are great representations of "PREMIER TALENT PARTNERS" and I look forward to building long lasting professional relationships with them and their colleagues. Many of us are being adversely affected by the crisis. In these times, turn to people who will take it upon themselves to ensure your success. They truly care and they truly want the best for you, at least that is how I felt. Remember they are humans too, I brought positivity to the table and got a great result. Come in with a good attitude and you will see, they will provide great service. They are professionals through and through. Don't wait any longer, choose the best, choose Premier!

I thought long and hard about whether I wanted to leave a review or what I might say in a review…read more So, just know that it is with a heavy heart that I feel compelled, despite my instinct, to get my story out there. I was offered a job earlier this year directly from the principal. I was uncertain about the role but was deeply inspired by its prospects. Sensing my uncertainty, the principal invited me to speak with her recruiter, David, at Palo Alto Staffing. I spoke with David for several hours across several phone meetings. By all accounts, things were going smoothly. That was until I got a call from the very principal who offered me the job telling me that she was uncertain about moving forward. When I asked why, she told me that David told her I would be a liability and that I was unqualified for the role. Now, keep in mind, at this juncture David had articulated to me on more than one occasion that "there was no doubt in his mind that I could do the job." So, you can imagine my surprise when I learned he articulated the exact opposite story to the company. Moreover, I asked David as candidly as I could whether he was supporting and endorsing me for the role, to which he responded, unequivocally, "yes." Adding insult to injury, David expressed to the principal that he administered a test to me and that I failed that test. That is wholly untrue. Instead, David asked me one question over the phone regarding concerns relating to booking travel, and -frankly- my answer was far more sophisticated than his own. Somehow, David felt emboldened to translate that unstructured and cursory dialogue into a "test," that apparently I failed. The principal then told me that David put himself up for the job! Let me say that one more time so it sinks in. David, the recruiter, in the same email in which he disparages my professionalism and undermines my qualifications, submits himself for the role. Nevermind the obvious conflict of interest here, but if allegations of professionalism were my shortcoming, I can think of nothing more unprofessional than to overtly and explicitly betray the trust of the principal by simultaneously minimizing a candidate and then offering your own services in lieu of the candidate. In my final discussion with David, he instructed me to send the principal an email highlighting my enthusiasm for the role, and we planned for him to follow-up on that thread with his endorsement and a plan on next steps. Again, you can imagine my surprise when I sent the email he directed me to send, and David never responded. Curious, I sent him a text message and reminded him that I had sent the email. Still, no response. Instead, David decides to contravene everything he told me on the phone. It is worth noting there was one other individual in the discussion process who was an outside service provider for the principal. I called that person to ask what her and David discussed following our conversations that so dramatically altered the outcome. She told me she was, by all accounts, enthusiastic about me coming aboard. I was, yet again, shocked to discover that David never actually coordinated with this stakeholder, as he claimed he would. In other words, it never occurred to David that before he comes to the conclusion that I would be a liability to the principal, to check in with the one other person in the interview process. If that was insufficient for a review, let me add a few more notes. David insulted the principal to me! He criticized the size of her SFO. In the interest of placating him, I echoed his concerns, but I found it wholly inappropriate that he was insulting my putative boss. It was conveyed to me by a person whose privacy I would like to maintain that David may have intentionally torpedoed my candidacy for this role because I was sourced directly from the principal, perhaps calling into question whether he would be compensated on the hire. I cannot say if this is true or not, but at this juncture, it would not surprise me. I view David as a feckless sycophant, eagerly attaching himself to large-net-worth individuals and siphoning whatever value he can. I have a law degree with a certificate in corporate law. I worked at two startups leading up to their IPO. I have worked on dozens of multimillion-dollar deals. I served as Volunteer Assistant District Attorney for the Resentencing Task Force under DA Chesa Boudin. I have litigated on behalf of immigrant families who were taken advantage of. I raised 15k for the Alzheimer's Association last month. I was the former Head of Legal and Compliance at Planned Parenthood Northern California. I hold degrees in philosophy, business and psychology. I am certified in PostgreSQL. In short, you can believe what I am saying.

I was laid off for the first time in the summer of 2010 and Courtney made the scary process of finding a new position quick, seamless and even comforting! She was able to find me an assignment within a few days and placed me at a local client on a five-month temp assignment. Once that assignment ended, she re-assigned me to another client, which was an equally amazing experience. I actually learned the basics of HR (my now career field) working on the second assignment she placed me at. When I was available again, I asked her for something in the HR field and she offered me a game-changing opportunity - the chance to work for her as the first full-time, dedicated recruiter for Menlo Partners Staffing, her own firm. She mentored and trained me from the ground up and is the reason I am the staffing professional that I am today. For her, I am forever grateful and will always appreciate the professional experience and wisdom she shared with me. She is an expert in the staffing industry and you are no doubt in good hands with her as a client company or candidate she's representing. She will fight for you and make sure it's the best possible fit on both sides of the desk. In the beginning I would ask her, "how do you know this person will work in that position?" and she would reply, "I just know, I can feel it in my gut." Little did I know those gut feelings came with 20+ years of experience in the staffing business and can't be taught overnight, but I always remember joking with her about that! I like to think because of her mentoring over the years, I have that "gut" feeling too. Courtney is one of a kind and it is nice to know there are people like her left in the sometimes cut-throat staffing business. She is a lifetime friend and someone I will always look up to on a professional note. Call Menlo Partners Staffing today!

However, where I find NOVA really comes through for its members is access to resources. During my time, I was given opportunities to attend job fairs, an event at the LinkedIn campus, and regular networking events. Every Thursday NOVA also brings in a guest speaker to present key topics. Many of these speakers are very open to providing you with free consultations where I've had the chance to get different perspectives on my resume, career coaching, and networking advice. NOVA members also get free access to LinkedIn Premium and LinkedIn Learning for a year and courses on IBM SkillsBuild for 6 months.
