John W. Dunnet has proven himself to be untrustworthy. I called him for an estimate on my chimney that was effected by the 2023 storm in Michigan. I made him aware that FEMA would pay for service and an estimate is needed.In essence he gave me the run around, never arrived and failed to call for a follow up. My experience with Skyline Chimney was terrible. Chris assured me that his company would fix the leak that was coming from the top of our chimney. The leak created water marks on my ceiling so I was happy that he said his company would be able to repair it. He quoted $5700 ~ it was a lot but he assured me the leak would be fixed. He is a great salesman and I believed him when he said the area on the roof by the chimney was repaired. Due to the area that was "repaired" I was not able to see the work that was done( actually not done). I paid him in full. When I tried to contact him via text/ calling he did not answer or reply. This went on for months. Still haven't heard from him. Later in the year I was having the outside of my house painted and the painter asked me if I was having any issues with water leaking into my house. I told him about Skyline and he said the flashing was not secured properly. He said he would fix it for me. He did not even charge me!! It took the guy 2 minutes to repair my leak. Do not hire these people. They are pleasant on the surface, but con artists. We had a very sorry experience with their billing procedure, and when we tried to question it, they created crazy distractions we later realized were staged (yes, it was that bad). They also appeared to put someone drunk on our roof (I felt badly for him and was concerned about liability). I NEVER write yelp reviews but feel I should in this case as a community service. John came in to work on our fireplace for a gas leak that was found by the gas company. He said that there was nothing wrong. He fixed another leak and charged us $190. After my wife complained about the smell of gas later that day she called John and he said he was coming over but he never did. Now he's not returning her calls. read more

This company came to my home to give me an estimate for some tuckpointing and chimney repair. I was not impressed.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. Didn't finish the job, will tell you he is coming and not show up. No phone calls or text just a no show. I only rated as 1 star because I had to rate him. John Dunnett doesn't care about his business because customer service is one of the worst I have ever experienced. I would tell my worst enemy to go elsewhere. He said he gave us a cheap deal but the job wasn't done correctly. Then when I tell him the cap HE removed twice wasn't his responsibility. They admitted they put the wrong size on and told co worker that it will blow off in the first good wind. It did.I have called owner John since MARCH and he will no longer return my calls after promising me he would be out in 10 days. I hired Skyline Chimney phone number 248-499-4900. I was told work will be completed in 3 days. It took almost 8 days to complete. Employees would come after 10:30 most of time and gone by 4 pm. They tell me they could not find cement boards as they are out of style. Later I find out store near my home they have 256 of them in stock. Workers Mr S was very unprofessional. Wanted to get paid by Check under Mr John W Dunnett's name and not business. Also wanted to get paid by personal check ob Mr Dunnett's name.
