Al is wonderful. He knows what he is doing, he is truthful and honest. He did a wonderful job. He figured out and fixed why my chimney had a draft. read more

They did a great job cleaning my chimney and when I was having a problem with a Smokey smell in my basement they called me back while they were on vacation to try and help me figure it out and put me in touch with a great mason for some tuck points. Will always use these guys read more

Al arrived little early and gave me heads up when he was on his way. He was very down to earth person. He explained everything and answered all my questions. He inspected and cleaned our chimney for first use and there was not a single dust left when he was done. They were very responsive when I messaged them on Yelp and when I called. Chose them because they are not just a great family-owned business but do a professional and clean job. They will have my business when I need anything done with our chimney. Thank you again! read more

The team at Veteran Chimney Sweep are so easy to work with. We had a sweep schduled for early January that we needed to reschedule based on renovations happening in our home that took longer than expected. They easily rescheduled us and didn't make a fuss even though we rescheduled only a few days before our scheduled sweep. When it comes to the service, it was so easy. The office called me a few days before to remind me of the appointment, and they showed up on time too. All I had to do was let them in and chat for a couple minutes about the service. I went back to work, and when I came down at the end I had a beautifully cleaned fireplace. Not only was the service performed, but they cleaned up all around the fireplace as well. It looked great. I definitely recommend them for your chimney needs. They even had done previous cleanings of the chimney of our house (we just moved in last year) and were able to give us updates about what they discussed with the previous owners, which was nice that they still had that info for us. They do book up quick, so I would recommend calling sooner rather than later to make sure you can get them out if you need a cleaning as soon as possible. read more

They were prompt, quick, and friendly. They told me everything going into our sweep and answered any questions I had during. Recommend!

Very friendly and reasonably priced. Knowledgeable and happy to explain everything. The was very careful to not make any mess and wore his mask while in the house. No extra cost, No pushing of services we don't need. I'll definitely use them again! read more

Great interactions both over the phone and in person! Al and Dennis visited our house this morning to do a chimney sweep. During their visit, I learned that, unfortunately, we have a chimney with an unusual shape and size and with limited access points! Although they were unable to clean our chimney, they were extremely polite and provided me with a clear explanation that I was able to use in contacting other chimney sweep companies to avoid this from happening again as well as recommended companies for replacing our fireplace doors -- and without any charge for their visit. I would recommend them to all the normal chimney folks out there. read more

I will recommend Veteran Chimney Sweep to all my neighbors and friends. They called me back from the message I left in a timely manor and the price quoted was the price paid. The sweep was done at the date given and in the time frame given. I received a confirmation call two days before the appointment which was great. My house was left clean and all my questions were answered at the time of the sweep. I will definitely book them for my spring / summer sweep after this fall / winter season. read more

Office staff was super friendly to start. They were booked up and over a month out on making reservations for a chimney sweep. But they took down my name and number. Sure enough a month later they called back and made an appointment. They came in the window of time they said they were going to. He was courteous and very clean. He even patched some mortar joints in firebox at no charge. They were very responsible and did everything they said they were going to do, and didn't try to "upsell" me on anything. No too often are you 100% satisfied with a contractor, but I was with them. read more

Arrived on time -- they cleaned up afterwards and educated me on how to maintain my fireplace with my new gas logs. I would absolutely hire them again. Enjoyed the conversation and felt very comfortable asking questions. read more

I had Veteran Chimney Sweep clean and inspect my chimney almost two years ago, but have reached out with questions since. Al was extremely kind and explained everything he was doing. He answered all my questions and provided a recommendation for a chimney mason to inspect the external components. I would definitely use them again. read more

This past summer I had a bird's nest in the chimney. I could not do anything until the birds were gone. I contacted Veteran Chimney Sweep. Today Al came out to do the sweep and put a cap on the vent. He was very professional and did a great job. Got the bird's nest out, cleaned the chimney and put the cap on. Even cleaned the logs (I have a gas fireplace), and relit the pilot light. All done in about an hour. Neat and tidy afterwards. No clean up needed. I highly recommend the company. read more

Had an awesome experience with this company. He was on time, answered all of our questions, didn't try to up-sell us on any other products or services. Five Stars! Honest family business ran by a veteran that you can trust! Highly recommend!!! read more

Just responding to the owner's comment... You'll notice that there's no justification given for why their geographic service area is so lopsided to the north... Well, there is a justification, but not one they want to share in a public review on Yelp. read more

WONDERFUL customer service and easy scheduling process. Al (owner) arrived on time (even a few minutes early) and went right to work. Very thorough and professional. Clean up process was top notch too. I highly recommend this business. read more

My husband had great things to say about them. I was not home at the time but honestly I can tell the chimney and fireplace were cleaned! Our fires burn much smoother and there is less Smokey smell. Our dog liked them too which speaks to some We will definitely use them in the future! read more

We have used Veteran Chimney Sweep at both of our Royal Oak homes and have found them to be honest, affordable, and professional. Both homes were fixer uppers, and Dennis and his son basically rebuilt one chimney, added caps to both, and fixed the flashing at one house. They also cleaned the chimneys (not even sure that had ever been done at either house) and showed us how to operate the wood burning fireplaces in a non-condescending way. Quality service all while keeping their workspaces clean. Highly recommended. read more

These guys are wonderful! It was like a scene from Mary Poppins, I was waiting for the talking animals and the cartoon characters. Honestly the father son duo did a great job. Clean, Timely, Courteous, and priced reasonably. Would recommend and hire them again! read more

Used these guys to inspect my chimney for my biannual rental property inspection. We agreed on the price but when they showed up, there was no need to do part of the service call...so I was only charged for what they did, and only what was needed. Great company and will recommend them to anyone. read more

We wanted to have our chimney swept before our house sale inspection. Dennis made room in his schedule to accommodate us. I don't think I've ever dealt with a more professional, knowledgable and genuinely nice guy! He gave me a lesson in chimney construction and repair which I found fascinating. He was meticulous in performing the sweep and charged a very reasonable price for the service. I highly recommend Veteran Chimney Sweep! read more

Outstanding service. Genuine and caring. Highly recommended!

We moved into a new house with a fireplace. I wanted to get it cleaned and inspected. I called Veteran Chimney Sweep and she was very upbeat and pleasant. They were able to get me an appointment right away. Al came to clean the chimney. He was quick and did a fantastic job. He also went over the chimney with me and explained a few questions I had. Great Company. First time using our fireplace in the 10 years we've lived in the house. Dennis and Al were awesome. After they swept the chimney and inspected it, they took the time to explain the damper and talked about proper firewood storage. Highly impressed! read more

Dennis is a terrific guy--very professional, knowledgable, courteous, and fun to talk with. He talked me through everything he was about to do for a standard chimney sweep. He explained how my chimney was unique, and he offered some thoughts on ways to improve it, if I wanted. I really felt like he was just a trustworthy friend doing great work for me. Easiest money I've spent on a contractor in a long time. read more

Excellent experience today. Al showed up on time and got right to work on the two fireplaces in my new-to-me home. One fireplace had never been used and so did not require a sweep. Al provided me with instructions for this wood burning fireplace and even provided the name of the wood company that he recommends. My gas fireplace did require a sweep. Cloths to protect my home we're out down immediately upon entry and there was no mess when finished. Al started up the fire and showed me what to do. He suggested installing a pilot light and provided the name of a company he recommends. Al was quick and thorough and professional. He was also kind and I enjoyed speaking with him. I will use this company again. Thank you! read more

Father and son duo. Great service, professional and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend them.

My profile says Ontario, CA, I am living in Lathrup Village, MI. This father and son team are awesome and very detail in their chimney sweep. They are a great team to work with. They did an excellent job on cleaning and repairing my chimney, it was refreshing to have a father and son team working together. They inspected, cleaned and repaired my 40 year old chimney in less than 2 hours. They also provided me with a education about the chimney and how to best use it and the education I got regarding using the wood properly and proper storage, was just awesome. These two are now my chimney guys for ever and I will refer them to anyone and everyone. You will be pleased with their work and we can't forget Linnette from the office she is kind and good at what she does. With them being so good and details, the are very reasonable. They are keepers. read more

Excellent work, very knowledgable. Honest and gave us plenty of options to choose from. I will use them again and again.

We have been using this company (Dennis) for several years, and I could very honestly give 6 stars. Each year, he cleans our chimneys, gives advice regarding maintenance, makes minor repairs as needed, gives referrals for larger masonry projects, and has sold us equipment at fair prices. I would say he is perfect for higher end customers, and/or those who demand and respect honest, high quality service...and feel good about paying a reasonable price for it. I don't mean to imply that this company is overpriced, but rather appropriately priced for expert service. Dennis works slowly and carefully, taking care not to make a mess of the house. When he leaves, you can't tell anyone was ever there...and chimney cleaning is a messy business. We also really appreciate the kind, professional woman who answers the phone when you call. This is a nice touch, and differentiates A Veteran Chimney Sweep from most trade/service businesses. As close to perfection as you can get. Highly recommended. read more
