Sean and his team at Fireside did a great job on our fireplace project. They were extremely helpful when I visited in store and walked me thru all the options including the pros and cons of various types of gas fireplaces. They were very responsive via email in providing quotes and scheduling a measuring appointment (which I would recommend to ensure the correct size logs). From the time I placed my order they had the logs and equipment on hand and installed within a week. Install was very fast and clean. Store director, Daniel, was wearing mask, listened to my questions and could not do enough to help me solve my problem. He showed me what and how to do it. They did a fireplace insert installation for us at the end of October of 2020. It was a few weeks getting the finishes installed. When we were able to use our new fireplace for the first time over the Christmas holidays, the basement filled with smoke (the fireplace is on the first floor of our house). I have called / gone into the store weekly trying to schedule an appointment for service to come out and investigate the problem. We are at 7 weeks of no return phone calls currently - I will keep trying - do they expect me to go away? read more

I had nothing but trouble from this location, from rudeness on the phone, miscalculated stone and poor quality products. We purchased a very expensive door (one of the most expensive doors they sold), and stone for our fireplace. I will start with the door - after we took it out of the package it was misaligned and the hinges were off. The company that I hired to install the door, stone and gas fireplace told me that they had installed thousands of doors, and never saw one that off. I called the store and asked what we should do, thinking the door may have to go back or that they may have to fix it. The manager basically told me off because I didn't hire them to install it, told me that they know how to tweak the doors. I told him that a door that expensive shouldn't need to be tweaked and he hung up on me. I called back and told him I didn't appreciate being hung up on, and wanted to return the defective door. He told me they don't take returns and hung up on me again. I then called the store in Canton, and the very friendly customer service rep walked me through things to check, and actually helped me fix the issues very easily and once the door was installed it has been fine. My other big issue is miscalculated stone; I went in with exact dimensions and I expected to purchase over the required square feet (extra pieces in case some didn't match, etc), but when they calculated it sounded like way too much. I went over it several times and one of the issues I had was a very large fire opening (larger than most fireplaces my size), which they count as stone space. Even though it didn't make sense I finally thought they may know better and I bought it. After install I have enough stone left to do 3/4 of my fireplace over again - I paid over $400 for all of this extra stone. Since then I have stopped by the Canton store to get some other things I wanted, and had a discussion with someone there about my dimensions. When I mentioned how large the firebox was he immediately told me that they would adjust the needed stone down based on that. I never mentioned what this store did, he just did that on his own. Do yourself a favor and do not go to this store! Also beware, sometimes when you call the Canton store it gets rerouted to this store - ask which location it is when they answer. Went to Fireside Hearth and Home on Woodward in Royal Oak. All of the salespersons were very helpful and took their time to answer all of my questions. When the gas fireplace unit came in at their facility, they called me to schedule a job inspection. Once that was done, they scheduled the installation, which was 1 1/2 months later. This was alright since I was in no hurry. The installers, Jerry and Nick did a careful and clean job installing. Jerry is like a master finish carpenter since everything had to be perfect. He had to literally rebuild and re-insulate the area and it took several hours. It was well worth it. The unit is very nice looking and my usual cold room was now warm and cozy. Now with the weather here in Michigan getting colder with strong winds, there is none of that coming into our room. Great job! Money well spent! read more

I have had nothing but trouble from Daniel Crank the manager. I came in and got a quote for a ventless fireplace insert, and had been told after I paid we would receive the fireplace in about two weeks. I paid shortly after that and waited about three weeks before I called to find out if my item was in yet. I was told that it was not in and it would take about 4 more weeks. I got upset and explained that I had to have this installed before the next week. Daniel said he would call me back but never did, I called him a few days later and he said that part of the fireplace will be delivered the next day but not the entire unit. I came and collected the partial fireplace and installed it, waiting on the other parts for more than another week, I did get a call when those last parts came in and collected them. I went to install the last parts and found that some were missing, I explained to Daniel that they were missing and he yet again said that he would get back with me. Two weeks later i still had not received a call. I called him from my cell phone which I had been using to contact him, He put me on hold and I waited 15 minutes before staying on hold and using another cell phone to call. Daniel answered immediately and I explained who i was and what the issue was. I told him that I want to return the part that he hasnt responded to me about yet and he said that it was a special order and i could not return it. He then started to get snappy with me and telling me that I was being a smart ass for explaining that I was not going to use them anymore and would not recommend them to anyone. All in all, Daniel is a young inexperienced manager who needs to learn how to maintain communication with clients and ensure things happen at a rate that he promised. read more

This is the worst company ever!!! I went into the story in October and decided to go with the company for a new blower on my gas fireplace. I also paid for an igniter, electric run, and a new on off rocker switch. They claimed they were backed up due to Covid and could not install until Jan. They came out and were not prepared to install the electric run and wanted to come back in Feb. After speaking to manager and threatning to pull out of the deal they had two guys come back out three days later. Fireside contracts installers and the one we had was MoTown. Two guys came out to my home at 9:00 am going from the basement to the fireplace and freely walking within my home with visible firearms. I was alarmed as my husband was working and I was there alone with my son. They failed to push the fireplace back in place and left a huge gap between the brick and the facing shield. As I went to close the glass door, the door fell off the hinge. Additionally, the face was moving. It was not even secured. A different guy came back out later that night to fix the problem but he could not fix the problems. He told me my door was loose initially and my brick was too soft to drill the face back on when the real problem was that they did not push the fireplace insert in far enough so that the face would not protrude. They never installed the rocker switch or the new igniter and my card was charged. They then wanted me to pay 80 more dollars after paying over $1000.00. This is absurd please please please Please don't let the name and location make you feel that you are getting premier service. This company is a joke. read more
