I'm moving this week and my fireplace stopped working, the buyer for my condo required it to be in working condition so I set about trying to find a place to call. A neighbor recommended this place, I called today and they were able to fit me in today as well. Mike showed up and was able to diagnose the problem, clean the fireplace and fix the problem, and was in and out of my house within an hour. The cost was $400, when I called on the phone they said costs usually started at $200, but this was fine by me because I believe he had to replace a part and do a bit more work to get the fireplace to work. They do take credit cards and there are no fees to use one, also. Based on this experience I would absolutely use Ace Fireplace again if I was having fireplace issues. read more

The owner stated parts were not marked up when presenting a proposal. This is false. The parts were marked up to over 80% of cost. The inspection failed twice- once because the wrong part was jammed into place upside down, and the second because the parts were installed wrong and broke on the roof resulting in a roof leak. The owner has a temper control problem and the crew that started left the job. What should have been a 2 day install became a month long nightmare. On the final invoice we were charged an additional $500 for a pad that was never received. The ceiling now needs repair and painting (another $480) because the pipe was cut through the wrong location in the ceiling. The owner will not release what parts were eventually installed or what the warranties are. read more

My wife and I bought a foreclosed home. We needed to buy a bedroom fireplace because the previous owners took it with them. Three different fireplace companies can and gave us a quote. All were way out of our budget. So I did some research and expanded my search area. Ace was about 45 miles from me, but Eddie had no problem coming to my house, taking measurements and explaining everything to us. He is such a nice guy! He did not leave until all our questions were answered, and his quote came in over $500 cheaper than the other three for the EXACT SAME MODEL. On installation day, Eddie and Garnett arrived on time as scheduled. It was not the breeze we were hoping it to be, but what ever is? The previous owner had bent the inside vents to quickly cover the hole with wood. Eddie and Garnett spent over an hour reconfiguring the vent to its original shape. We were looking to convert our wood burning fireplace to gas. Eddie spent a lot of time showing us gas fireplace inserts, vented log sets, and vent-free log sets, along with the pros and cons of each. We made a selection, but due to supply chain issues, the unit would not be available for months. Where do I begin with this guy? I didn't think there were any more of his kind around anymore. He not only saved me 50 to 60% over what competitors were charging on my fireplace setup, he diagnosed and corrected (at no extra cost) a chimney blockage problem that others had quoted $15-20,000 to repair. Both brick masons and furnace "experts" said it was necessary to do major repairs. They wanted to rebuild the entire chimney. Ed found and corrected the problem in less than an hour and did not charge anything extra for the work. It has been many years since I've dealt with such an honest and highly competent professional. Initial review, made phone call to get estimate on switching wood burning fireplace over to gas in mobile home. Was offered appnt immediately but needed a specific day/time due to work schedule, was accommodated. Owner arrived earlier for appnt., I was still working - husband took care of visit and consulted with me over the phone. Brochures left with prices & details. Later that evening we contacted the owner to inform of our choices and schedule the week for the install. So far everything is going great - highly recommend. I contacted Edward King, owner of Ace Construction and Fireplace via phone to obtain an appointment for an estimate for a chimney crown repair at my residence. I sent Mr. King via phone, the pictures of the chimney crown and he indicated he thought he could peel back the crown and repair it for $600. Mr King arrived at my residence on July 27 to complete the work. After examining the job, he stated it was more complicated than thought, and would require $800 to complete. I agreed to that amount, and he remained on the roof to "begin the job". He then informed me the entire chimney needed replacing due to cracked/loose bricks for a price of $1,500. After I complained about the changing price, he threatened to walk off the job. I reluctantly agreed to the $1,500. His two helpers proceeded to demolish our chimney, throwing debris all over the yard. Upon his arrival at the job site, he stated they would put down a tarp to avoid mess. The helpers loaded most of the debris into the truck. He then stated he would need $$ to get a tarp to cover the chimney and purchase brick. I gave him $300, which I stated was 1/2 of the original quote. He complained (using the "F" word), but gave me a receipt for $300 cash and left to get supplies. Upon his return, my husband asked why he failed to put down the aforementioned tarp to collect debris, and attempted to assist him with a rake. Mr. King found this insulting, stormed off the job, and stated he couldn't work with us. I contacted him to ask about my $300. He stated he could bring back our debris for $100. I stated that sounded fair, and he yelled saying he had no intention of doing that and thought I wouldn't take him up on the offer. I asked why he offered, if he didn't intend to bring back our debris. As this repair is in preparation for the sale of our home, we have had the chimney inspected twice during the month of July. Neither inspector mentioned the chimney brick being in bad shape, just the cracks in the chimney crown. I believe Mr. King has pulled a bait in switch, increasing his bid for the job. I understand the job quote went from $600 to $800 because he hadn't personally examined the job. I don't understand why it jumped from $800 - $1,500 once he examined the job personally on the roof. Mr. King is a con artist, RUN don't walk away. read more

We went up to the store to meet with Eddie who showed up almost 45 minutes late for our appointment. We waited at least 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us after we walked in and we were the only customers in the store. It was just downhill from there.
