Overall, we had a great time! My son and I bonded by jumping out of a plane. The instructors were very polite and no-pressure, the experience was thrilling, and we were safe, so five stars. I wish they sold t-shirts! I do recommend it. But here are some caveats to consider before you go: 1. The liability waiver is nuts. There's no insurance and you cannot sue. If you do sue, then you have to pay THEIR legal fees. Wowza. Fortunately the instructors have thousands of jumps of experience each. They're very confident and have never had a fatality. 2. No bathrooms, just a porto potty. 3. The plane is tiny...think of a flying tunafish can. Two jumpers per flight only. (Plus a pilot and the tandem instructors.) 4. This place is in Minden. You DO gets views of Lake Tahoe from the plane, but you're mostly looking at mountains and valleys (beautiful) while decending. 5. Because Minden is at 4,700 feet (and your jump is from 12,000 or 14,000), it's a shorter freefall than starting a sea level. Also, the landing is faster because you're landing in thinner air then if you were lower. This was noticeable compared with the jump I did a long time ago from a spot that's near sea level. 6. The video/photo package is worth it. The pics are so/so because they're from a GoPro and distort images, but the video is an incredible memory! Again, it was a great 5 star experience, but it's important to have an accurate view of what to expect. read more

I had never been skydiving before and wanted to challenge my fear of heights, so I felt excited but nervous. Jen and Jules were so kind and reassuring, the team very competent and the view... honestly, I can't imagine a better place to skydive. I could see mountains, valleys, lakes and it was just the most intense, amazing, exhilarating experience. I'd say the jump itself was fun. Here are the things that were not: 1) There was spotty communication between the pilot, instructors, and the people working the base. Before the jump, up in the plane, the wind conditions were sketchy (going above 10 knots, unsafe to dive in), and the pilot kept radioing the base, who was unresponsive. After landing, one of the instructors was chewing out the base for not being more communicative about the unpredictable conditions. Not great to hear when you're about to plunge 10,000 feet... 2) We were a group of 4, and they didn't make it abundantly clear that the plane can accommodate 2 skydivers at a time. 3) The only restroom option was an outhouse that hadn't been serviced in a long time. Really gnarly and dirty. The instructors were pretty cool, which was a plus, but I'd only recommend this place to friends with a couple of caveats. read more

100% an experience you won't regret! I am so glad that I chose to jump here. First of all, Jules was an absolute sweetheart on the phone when trying to schedule a jump. It made me that much more excited to show up and meet her and the rest of the crew in person. From the moment I got there, I was greeted with a big smile and a warm welcome from everybody. If that isn't comforting for someone about to jump out of a plane, then I don't know what is. Even the fun jumpers that I got the chance to meet and jump with were AWESOME (Alex and Kip)! Absolutely the most amazing experience I've ever had. I am one of those casual adventure guys who has tried bungee jumping, whitewater rafting/kayaking, mountain biking, cliff jumping, parasailing, snowboarding, caving, rock climbing and rappelling, etc..... this was by far the best experience of my life. I love and admire so many Red Bull or adventure athletes, and for a day, I got to pretend I was on their level. literally a kid in a candy store! And to jump with a company started by Mike Swanson and his wife and family was an absolute nerd out moment for me. If you are considering taking the jump, you HAVE TO GO FOR IT!! You will not regret it. All the staff was absolutely amazing! Oh, and views from the plane and fall were spectacular. I loved it soooo much, I'm already going again a second time within a week!! First time skydiving we choose Truckee, SO glad we did!! Run by the sweetest, friendliest family who made us feel right at home. Very knowledgeable, answered all my crazy questions!! I was very nervous & they made me feel safe. Riding up in the tiny plane was probably the most scary part but we jumped out at 10,000 ft and the views from all around were stunning!! Views of all the local mountain resorts, Tahoe plus many more lakes. The guys we jumped with were so fun & were able to point out all the cool stuff to see. Free fall was amazing, did a flip out of the plane. After we pulled the chute I was able to actually steer us which felt cool & we landed perfectly, no issues. I went today to Skydive for my first time with Skydive Truckee Tahoe, while I was on the plane, it started to show some difficulties (in that moment I didn't event knew what was happening). My tandem instructor (Christine) tried to tight me up to her and suddenly push me back, opened the door and jumped from the plane!!! While the other people from the team where shouting wait Christine wait!! She didn't care and continued with it. I was terrified. We had to land the plane while the door was open the complete way back. When we landed I calmed down and I talked with the crew, I totally understand planes are machines and they sometimes fail. The crew all were awesome and treated me well, they did a reimbursement of the payment and took me to the airport. I understand the risks that are implied in doing skydiving. From any point of view, it's not acceptable at all that your instructor that is supposed to make the jump with you, pushes you back and just jumps from the plane while the rest of the crew is shouting her to wait and while the plane is having difficulties! I'm happy I'm alive and I will do my first jump as planed but not with Skydive Truckee Tahoe. read more

Booking the jump with Jules was both easy and timely, directions to the location were thorough, paperwork was clear, and within a short amount of time I was on the airplane ready to jump!
