For my 35th Birthday I asked my mom to skydive with me. I've always wanted to go and found this to be the perfect time to do it. I was excited and I was worried I had built it up in my head to an expectation it could not possibly meet. This experience blew my expectations out of the water and soared straight past them. Phillip Tancrede was my tandem instructor and while I know there is no perfect jump, parachute, parachute packer, plane or instructor Phillip went above and beyond to make me feel like I was in the best hands, I felt safer jumping out of an airplane with Phillip than I do getting in the car with most people. I could not have asked for a better instructor, I am forever grateful to Phillip. In addition to Phillip I had an amazing videographer he caught one of the best moments in my life in the sickest way, he's a sky ninja that i unfortunately can't remember the name of, I have tried to find it because he truly deserves to be recognized but I haven't been successful finding it. Skydiving Monroe did a phenomenal job, a tone has been set in my life. Every day all I can think is I have got to find a way to do it again and again. People who have made the jump know that life can be broken into two separate parts BS (before skydive) also speaks for itself and AS (after skydive). This is the very best place to do your first time tandem jump. They will make you so comfortable and stress free you won't believe you are even doing it. I scheduled my daughter and myself for the first time and just fell in love with the sport. I am now about to start the AFF course and I will do it at skydive Monroe. The staff are so friendly, I have never met a community of skydivers who care so much for the new comers. Had a great experience here with tandem skydiving. Online booking for my large group was easy and the wait time wasnt long at all even though they said 4 to 5 hours. We were all done within 2 hours of our appt time, which including signing papers, receiving education, and suiting up. Loved my tandem diver, big steve. He was really nice and made the jump more memorable. They give you water and a certificate after, which i thought was a nice gesture. Friendly workers and overall great experience. Wear comfy gym clothes and shoes that wont fall off easily. If you have long hair.. tie it back. If you have sensitive ears, i recommend bringing ear plugs!! read more

Ok, first things first. Yes I'm a regular skydiver here at Monroe. The 5 stars is in no way favoritism to this drop zone. I got my start at another drop zone but settled here because we're more close knit... Here we joke on a regular basis. Sometimes it can be crude. Good luck finding a drop zone that doesn't do that. It's a skydiver thing. It helps to ease the tensions for new comers and for us regulars, we're a family so please, expect us to be clowns. Our instructors are very safety aware. They've done this thousands of times. Yes, these instructors are our family too, expect them to cut up with you and with us as well. Sometimes weather will impede us from jumping i.e. clouds/high winds.. account for that. Skydiving for many is a one time thrill, for us it's a way of life. 5 stars for the instructors. Maybe 1 for the management. First of all, there were 6 in our group, and at least 3 of us called at 8am to verify that we could still jump in spite of the weather. Scattered thunderstorms were predicted, and we had already been postponed once for weather. Most of us were driving at least an hour and didn't want to get there only to find out that we couldn't jump. Some were told to call before they left, but being that our reservation was at 10am, that's exactly what we were doing. 20 minutes isn't going to make a difference. We were all answered in a condescending manner and told that there was only a "haze" outside. I'm not sure how total cloud coverage is only considered a haze, but we figured she knew what she was talking about. Once we arrived, they tried to charge us $40 above regular group rate, and $65 above our initial group's rate. (Some were unable to get another Saturday off after being postponed the first time.) But when 6 people were about to walk out, they honored it. Took about an hour for everyone to fill out paperwork, watch the video, pay, and listen to the training instructor give a brief overview. Then, we proceeded to sit there for 4 hours, due to what we called about that morning... Weather. They had already taken our money, so if we rescheduled again, we're out that money without having gotten to do anything yet. They never told us that there might be a chance that we couldn't go before we paid. Just went through the entire process like it was guaranteed to happen. During that time period, there was no communication about anything - weather updates, possibility of still being able to go or not, nothing. We had to go and ask and, again, were answered in a frustrated manner. This could have been avoided if she had said that there was a good possibility we wouldn't be able to go out and then let us determine if we wanted to take that risk OR recommended that we come a little later when the forecast was better (preferable). When you've been doing this for 20 years, I'm sure you've seen this enough to be able to handle it in a better way. Waiting 2 hours versus 5 would have been much more understandable. A couple people ended up leaving, but RIGHT as the rest of us were, the clouds finallyyy split. We were told that we were gonna be on the 2nd plane and then were moved to the 3rd, which added about another hour. The skydiving experience itself was exhilarating. There is absolutely nothing like falling through the sky at almost 130mph. Had to remember to breathe! Once I gained my bearings, floating with the parachute was actually very peaceful. We all had awesome instructors, and they were empathetic towards the situation. Was definitely worth it, but from a customer service perspective, could have been handled differently leading up to it. If the weather looks funky to you, I would go ahead and reschedule rather than potentially wasting most of your day sitting there for 15-30 minute experience. read more

Twelve Atlanta couch surfing compadres and I jumped out of a plane with the fine gentlemen at Monroe Skydiving on Saturday. We found a groupon for $110 ( the price is usually $190) so we couldn't resist When you arrive you find out the video is an additional $85, $100 if you want stills. Some people didn't get the video but I figured this would be a once in a lifetime experience, I was going to have it documented. For all 12 of us, it was an 8 hour experience. Two - three people can go at a time, especially if everyone's getting video because you need to account for that person in the plane. Then there was a windy patch we had to wait out -- which to me is better safe than sorry! When it actually came time for my jump (second to last) -- I was fully equipped with tips from the gallery -- keep your head up and don't look down, if the leg straps are too tight tell them so you don't get sick. Bruce, my jump master, was amazing and made the experience one I'll never forget. These guys may joke with you that they're amateurs but they've done thousands of jumps. Only complaint - the weight limit for women here is 170lbs and for men it's 225lbs. I was told at Skydive Atlanta there is one standard so check out the competition for yourself. Monroe Skydive gives you a view of Stone Mountain, the Atlanta skyline (if it's not too hazy) and lots of open green space. Pretty beautiful.. read more

I've gone skydiving 4 times so far in life. Maybe 5. I don't remember. Each of those times - I've gone here. At the time, I was in college and I didn't really want to drive to ATL and spend an extra 100 dollars for my skydiving experiences. Hahahaha. I sound smart, right? Anyways.... Staff members are really nice and super chill. I don't remember having any trouble. Oh - they gave me a discount after my first time because I brought new people with me when I came back. Isn't that sweet?! We do have to wear a suit. It's a silly looking suit, but better safe than sorry. Before doing anything, they will give you paperwork to fill out and etc. Simple. Also, I think each time I went, the weather was beautiful. So everything went great. Overall, I'm glad I came here for my experience. I think once I tried to get off the plane before take off and the guy was like "woops, I closed the door.. gotta go!". I nearly peed my pants, but I didn't, hahah. Everyone makes the skydiver feel very comfortable especially if they're a newbie. read more

Went on a Saturday, we were late but they were very accommodating. It was our first time ever skydiving. Potential time at drop zone is clearly stated on their website, and can be hours but you get to see the other skydivers come down as you wait which was pretty cool! I visited this place a few years ago. Groupon had a deal and my husband, then boyfriend had mentioned that skydiving was on his bucket list so I decided to purchase the deal for him and myself to celebrate our upcoming anniversary. When we got to the place, we had to watch a video then sign some waivers. After that was all done, we were suited up and then waited for the plane. I was extremely nervous the entire time! After waiting around for a little bit, the plane was ready for take off. It was definitely the most quiet plane ride I've ever been on! After a few minutes, it was my time to jump. I'll never forget that moment! I remember walking over on my knees to the door and seeing my boyfriend flip out of the plane and thinking to myself, "OMG what did I sign up for?!" Next thing I know, it was my turn to jump out of the plane! I had purchased the photo/video package and I remember the photographer telling me to smile while I was falling. It was definitely hard to try to smile while the wind was blowing my face all crazy and my heart was beating a million beats/minute! After what felt like falling forever, the parachute finally opened and it got super quiet and serene. The guy that was strapped on my back started doing turns which made me airsick. I have the worst motion sickness so the whole way down was torture. The guy tried to do as small of turns as possible but it still didn't help me unfortunately. So overall, I'm glad I got to experience skydiving but I'll never do it again! The staff here was great but skydiving is definitely not for me! read more

I purchased 2 Groupons. They had expired. My husband is in law enforcement and I am in the military. I was call overseas for work and after getting back the Groupons had been forgotten about. I called and asked if we could still jump and pay the difference. The receptionist told me the Groupons were expired and no good. The entire experience was amazing from start to finish. The staff were great and friendly. In these sort of situations, it's always nice to encounter patient and friendly staff, so it was much appreciated and helped ease the jitters. The jump Masters and videographers were AMAZING! They took the time to make sure my friends and I were well informed and felt as comfortable as possible. The actual experience of jumping was the most invigorating thing I've ever done and it was so refreshing to have the jump Masters be just as excited as I was to have the experience and they made sure it was great. The video was more than worth the money and the care that my videographer took to make sure he pronounced my name correctly and to make sure he captured all of the special moments and my raw reactions...I can't thank him enough! I enjoyed the actual skydiving part but the rest of the experience was just awful. I would consider the other skydiving places around Atlanta first. My story... I checked in at 1:45 for a 2 reservation and they told us to take a seat and our name would be called. Not knowing how things worked there, I went up to ask again after sitting for 40 minutes without being called. They apologized that they forgot about us and would get us on the next jump. Whatever. We were still on the last plane out for the day. They could not give us any good estimates on when we were going to jump or be finished. We finally left at 8:15! 6 1/2 hours for a 5 minute jump is just ridiculous. They have no capacity planning or front office girls can manage or operate. Bad weather gave them a 30 minute delay, but bad management was the rest. My tandem partner was Ken. Why Ken thought he could fart on the plane and get away with it is beyond me. Do you want to be strapped to an instructor who intentionally farts on the plane? Unbelievable. Unprofessional. And yes, it is a tandem jump and have a guy strapped behind you. Why so many gay jokes about it? And it goes way beyond when there are penetration jokes. Really? How much business have you lost for the company? They could tell I was unhappy with my experience, but never did much to make it better. It just kept getting worse. Skydiving is fun, but try one of the other places in Atlanta. read more

My son and his girlfriend made an appointment to go skydiving. Their scheduled time was at noon. Parents went along to watch. The appt was at 12:00 on a Sunday. We arrived at 11:30, signed paperwork, paid, watched a short video and were given instruction. At 1:15, their names had still not been called, so I asked the woman in charge if we had time to run and eat. She suggested I bring food back so they wouldn't miss their time to go up. At 3:00, we were still waiting around and their names had not been called. At that point, we got involved and had a bit of a heated discussion with Bill, the man in charge of the skydivers. He offered our money back, but after a 1 hour drive and 3 1/2 hours of waiting around, we were not leaving. Finally at 4:00, they got to get on the plane. We watched the plane take off and waited under the hangar out of the hot sun for the woman to let us know that divers were in the sky as she had done for each of the other 7 flights that day. The announcement never came and after 20 minutes I walked out there to see the first diver (not our kids) landing and then she announced "divers in the sky". At that point our kids were more than halfway down. I can't begin to tell you how upset we were. When I confronted her about it she made some excuse about the radio. All they had to do was communicate with us about the wait time, but instead they chose not to do that and made us sit around for 4 1/2 hours. Our kids were so excited about doing this and my son had been here before and had a great experience, but I can tell you this put a bad taste in our mouth and we will never be back! read more

Dive master was self centered and did not pay any attention to my questions during prep, flight or dive. I had horrible earache during the free fall ( turned out to have caused ear drum rupture) and severe pain in the groin from ill-fitted straps during the parachuting. The goggles were plastic junk with scratches and cloudiness and homemade rubber strings. While your experience will depends on your master skydiver, I suggest avoiding Bill Scott if you really have to go to this place. read more

I made my first ever jump yesterday at Skydive Monroe, and it was completely amazing! I had an expired Groupon, and they were happy to apply it to the cost of the jump; I just paid the difference. They also gave my friend a sizable discount. Everyone was friendly and jovial...almost to the point of being a little too casual about the process. But it put me at ease for the jump. I was told to expect to wait as much as five hours, but we were on the plane no more than 20 minutes after having signed the waivers! My jump partner was Chuck ("Chuckles"), and he was a lot of fun in the air! He let me take control of the toggles and do some spins. I couldn't ask for a better first skydiving experience! I will definitely recommend this place to my adventurous friends, and I plan to jump again before the summer is over! read more

My brother and I experienced our first skydiving experience here a few weeks ago, and now looking back on our experience it was subpar. We had never tandem jumped before but we knew the process of waiting at the DZ would be a few hours so we were prepared for that. However, we saw groups arrive there after we did and get to jump before we did. Employees kept walking by us asking "Are you guys jumping today? Have you guys gone yet?" This wait made it seem unorganized and frustrating for people who have never done this before. But being so excited and in the spirit of anticipation, we remained in good spirits and this didn't ruin the experience for me. We finally get prepped to jump (get sized for suits, our harnesses were adjusted, pre-video interviews, etc) and everything from here on was amazing. I jumped with Lee and my brother jumped with Yan (both really cool guys; I would recommend either of them). Our instructors were a major part in why our experience was so fun. They joked around but made us feel comfortable and safe at the same time. It's hard to say anything negative about the actual skydiving because it was truly a once in a lifetime feeling and something I'm very eager to do again. My videographer was Ryan and this was the main issue I had with Skydive Monroe. We both purchased the video and stills package for $120. The video editor wasn't there that day so our videos and pictures would have to be mailed to us later on a flash drive - we were bummed but fine with this. We received the flash drives in the mail later that week. My brothers video turned out professional and really cool to watch. His pictures were taken at really cool angles and made sure to capture his facial expressions - you could tell the videographer knew what he was doing and what angles looked the best for pictures. On the other hand, my pictures were take far away and he missed the part when I actually jumped out of the plane (aka the coolest part). I was really disappointed with my pictures but when I tried the video it wouldn't even work -__- The audio was working but there was no video. I was playing it on my Mac so I thought there might be a compatibility or format issue so I researched and checked but everything looked compatible. This is a week after we skydived there, so I called them thinking they might have the video still on file or that they could fix whatever problem was wrong with mine. They apologized and said they should still have my video on file (assuming they made a note for my name and my video to be fixed). They told me I should send the flash drive back to them and they would fix whatever problem it had. I just got the flash drive back today, disappointed to read that they have lost my video! They sent a gift certificate for a new video package and more pictures for when I would want to jump again along with a discounted skydiving price of $95. I appreciate the thought and it was a nice offer, but I don't want a video of my second skydive, I wanted the one of my FIRST skydive. I would happily use the gift certificate and discounted price but I was on vacation when I went there so I do not even know when I will be back in Monroe or even Georgia. I would appreciate if I could just get half of my $120 back since I paid for a VIDEO. Just a very frustrating and seemingly simple task that could've made my experience that much more enjoyable and somewhere I recommend to family and friends. read more
