A lot of fun and something different. I'm a bit heavy and it was a great workout without killing you.

Sky Gym - Our beautiful studio!

Sky Gym

(45 reviews)

I can't say enough good things about Sky Gym. The entire staff there is super welcoming, nice,…read moreaccommodating, friendly, talented, and passionate. It's a great, clean facility with really high ceilings, and SHOWERS! Plus, they have *lots* of open practice opportunities, which is really nice. If you go and it's difficult or challenging, it's supposed to be! It's a full-body strength workout (that can even get into cardio territory sometimes if you're on the apparatus long enough). I couldn't do *anything* in my first few classes, but after maybe a couple of months, I could do enough to do a very small "performance." Just keep at it. You'll be surprised how quickly you build strength if you commit to at least once a week. Most important, though: have fun. The instructors will do their best to make sure that's happening!

So far my impression of the studio is that everyone are professionals at their craft. They are…read moreextremely clean and friendly team. Safety is a top priority. What I like is their mind body app that makes viewing and booking effortless. Membership prices are very affordable and great combinations of types of aerial excercise equipments (eg sling) The downside for me is that the first instructor courses were disorganized and not many get to try everything. felt rushed to briefly do every single one. I come in for my 3rd class and still disorganized despite having only 3 students. All in which have different levels. Level 1 sling class even then is too advanced for me. The instructor just dove right in but i think he forgets that when it comes to students like myself, I have never ever activated or used any muscle movement similar to what they are doing. He said to me you're just overthinking it. Yet the movement isn't understood by me. Even watching, I can't connect my many different movements "just" to do a simple flip into the sling and then have the fabric lay on my pelvis bones, balance and flip legs over. I'm sure this isn't the only way to teach...and I'm gonna look for a place that offers more structured and fluid sessions. Maybe start off with workout routines on The sling then just a "just move your body into any shape" or "just tuck your knees in and JUST bend your arms" then "voila". I won't be paying a drop in cost or even a membership just to hang or have such chaotic class. One minute this and that yet no real idea what those moves are even called. I left 20 minutes early as most moves were really too advanced for me. All I can do I stand in the sling. I'll be buying my own sling and watching videos online it's no different because all sky gym offers is this "watch" and "learn". You grab your own support pad.. They might help "lift you" into position but doesn't help understand how to do It yourself.. Also they do not really look at me when teaching but everyone else. Not really included till I speak up. Maybe it's just my instructor. They should look and make eye contact to EVERY STUDENT. not just one.

Sky Barre - Up, up and away!

Sky Barre

Sky Barre was on my bucket list forever and it was worth the wait! A private party costs $245,…read moreminimum of 7 to book. Drop-ins cost $35 per person for 50 minutes so arrive early. Park free in the small lot or the Publix parking deck across the street. Our instructor CoCo patiently waited for my crew, but the clock was running because of other bookings. The environment is cool and clean with cubbies for personal items/shoes. You enter the mat barefoot or in socks. The website mentions 30-minute-high intensity low impact cardio classes, indoor water rowers, aerial sling yoga to release tension etc. We had a P-Valley themed party, so I knew it was going down! We each picked a Sky Barre nickname and CoCo broke down the routine into steps. I haven't worked out in awhile and I have zero upper body strength, so I was nervous but willing to try. I couldn't do some of the moves but CoCo made modifications. It's not easy. Initially, it felt like the aerial silks were burning into my feet, butt and side. But it's more discomfort than pain and she said you get used to it. An hour wasn't enough time to learn the routine. But you are your own audience so it's more about feeling confident, getting out of your head and having fun! We had a glow party under blacklights, so highlighter colors really pop! The lights were dimmed, the track was played, and we killed our routine. Not! We did it 2x and I still forgot half the moves! The best part is how sexy you feel if you let yourself go. But when I played the video later it was more like the rhythmless nation! At the end we cheered each other on as we freestyle danced in a circle. Water was provided and we said our goodbyes. Sky Barre core + cardio = full body workout. I was sore for few days but it was worth it! Memberships start at $150 (1 hr a week, 12 drop-ins per month). There's a $99 3-week unlimited beginner class promo for newbies. If you can afford it and you're brave enough to try, drop in for a fun, creative workout. I recommend!

Came to celebrate my friend birthday and I'm happy I didn't punk out. I struggled a bit with being upside-down but other than that, I felt like I was a pro at this. Don't knock it until you try it and you should definitely try it!
