We booked a skydiving and this company turned out to be one of the most unprofessional experiences ever. The first time, they canceled on us because of the weather which is understandable but what's absolutely unacceptable is the way they handled it. We live 5 hours away, and they canceled on us just 5 minutes before our scheduled jump. Five minutes. They clearly think everyone lives next door to them and can just turn around. That's beyond inconsiderate and shows they don't value people's time or money. To make things worse, they refuse to give a refund even though they are the ones canceling. So not only do you waste hours traveling, gas money, and a whole day, but you also lose your money. This company is completely unserious, unreliable, and clearly doesn't care about customers at all. Stay away if you don't want to be treated with zero respect. read more

Amazing experience! The whole thing was around 25-30 minutes long. They got me in the gear and on the plane within 10-15 minutes and then the flight was around 10 minutes. Jumping out the plane and landing was probably a whole 2 minutes long. It goes by quick but it was still a really fun time. I would have gave them the full 5 stars but the price was a little much. It was my first time sky diving and they were so helpful and accommodating! When you first go in person, they have you say on video that basically you can die from this experience, which was scary to do, but the staff are all super nice and help you relax and feel comfortable. They encouraged me to get the video package which I would recommend if it is your first time sky diving. Highly recommend this place for it's safety and fun! read more

How cool would it be for Shirley to skydive at Shirley, NY. Unfortunately my review is base on my experience with Skydive South Shore and not the actual skydiving experience because it never happen. So me and 3 other friends planned to Skydive in the summer of 2016. We had found Skydive South Shore through Groupon and we were so excited ! At first we schedule to go in July but the few days we choice was cloudy. So first time we attempt to actually go the day before they already stated that HIGH chances that we can't go skydiving through the weather, and we got a call in the morning stating it is still high chances that we could not skydive on that day. So even though we were driving over to give it a try but we had no choice but to rebook. They were full on the weekends so we couldn't set a schedule since one my friend had summer class until mid August. We had to pay additional $50/per person for an extension for after July which was okay for us as long as we get to skydive. The second time we reschedule, when we were heading out when we got a phone call from that stating that the weather doesn't seem to look good (no calls prior to that) and that high chances we would have to reschedule again. Okay so first time, the second time and then the third time same thing happens. Bright and sunny and we get a phone call phone from them telling us that it is too windy and that high chances we have to reschedule. At that point we were so done with this place, we all had take off from work just for this occasion and it was not once, and whichever dates we can possibly change to like the weekends they would tell us that we are full without trying to make it possible for us. My two friends had to go back to College in upstate and they refused to make refund us. Luckily I contacted Groupon and my credit card company, they were able to get me back my refund. After several times of rescheduling, my experience was worth the wait!! I decided to take my boyfriend skydiving for his first fathers day, and the experience was absolutely awesome. Let's just say I get more nervous at job interviews than jumping. My instructor was Nick. The best fella in town. He and his partner assured us and explained to us thoroughly everything that was about to happen and what to expect. As a first time skydiver, I would do it again. The place it's self was very clean and orderly. The planes were quite small, enough to fit 5 people so if you go in a group you'd probably have to wait a while. Their honesty is great too. I love LI for it's beaches, parks, nature overall but skydiving venue is about 1/2 a star out of 5. I should be living in NJ. EX: on LI no AFF, solo jumping prohibited, you need reservation like 24 hours ahead for tandem, their altitude is only 10,000ft... Skydive Sussex in NJ--they got everything and no reservation needed, you show up and next thing you know your ass is falling out of the sky from 14,500 ft in under 25mins! The staff is friendly, the equipment works, and I had a great time jumping out of a plane for the first time! I originally came across SSS through groupon but after calling their office I purchased direct. It's the same price, you cut the middle man, plus you get more flexibility if you need to reschedule your jump (which I had to do a few times). There's lot of chatter and reviews of Nick on here... And he was fun. He had a way of calming nerves and explaining things. He also lets you take control of the parachute on your way down. With that said, I jumped with Roberto who was a great gravity testing companion. He made me feel comfortable and safe. I purchased and booked my skydive in advance on their website. It is a little confusing when you get there because there are two different sky diving companies in the same parking lot and I accidentally went to the wrong one first. First you have to fill out waivers, pages of them with some pretty intense questions. You also have to read a statement on video ( I am voluntarily risking death and serious injury etc.). Unfortunately, their camera kept dying and I had to reread the statement many times which definitely made me nervous. After that they suit you up and you have some time to spend watching others jump. Everyone who comes back is SMILING. I did not see one person crying or say they would never do it again. They have some picnic tables where my family was able to watch our jump. I went with my 81 year old grandfather and I have to admit that I was nervous about the experience. It was the first time for both of us. I jumped with Roberto and he went with Fernando. I cannot say enough nice things about either of them. Fernando made sure the jump went as smoothly as possible for my grandfather. It is very hard to maneuver in the very small plane especially for an older person. Roberto made sure to calm my many nerves and make sure we enjoyed every moment. I am very grateful for them for helping us create such a unique and unforgettable experience! The plane ride is longer than I thought and gives you an amazing view of Long Island. The jump is a rush of adrenaline, and once the parachute opens it is just quiet and so beautiful to see below. We both had a smooth landing and will frame out certificate of completion! The only thing I can criticize is the video. It is $100 per person and just about 5 minutes long with a 1 minute advertisement for the facility. Since the beginning and end of both videos are basically the same (for the 2 people who go up in the plane together) I feel they should offer a longer video of your combined experiences for less than $100 per person. At the same time, your first jump is a once in a lifetime experience and I recommend documenting it. read more

My girlfriend and I visited Skydive Long Island today and we were both nervous heading into the day. It was our first time doing this so we had no idea what to expect. Upon arriving, we were called by Matt to confirm our appointment and were greeted by him once we entered the building. Matt was very helpful and professional the entire time. After going through training and signing, we were greeted by our instructors - Roberto and Lego. Both gentlemen helped us prepare and made us smile while easing our nerves and jitters. Went skydiving here yesterday and it was an amazing experience!!!!! Booking online was super easy and upon arrival everyone working there was accommodating and friendly! The instructors that were in my plane were Fernando and Roberto and they were both really nice and very informative. They pointed out cool landmarks for us to see on the scenic plane ride up. I jumped with Roberto and he was awesome! He was super personable and made me feel very comfortable. He kept checking in with me to make sure that I had no questions before we jumped. And finally, the dive itself was amazing! The views were beautiful and the experience overall is unbelievable. Loved every second of this skydive experience and I would definitely recommend it! Sky diving is the top item of my new year resolution list! And thanks to my friend Steve and Daniel! Here we are today and we have done it! I'm not sure if it will be life 'changing' event, but it is certainly amazing and unique different than everything else that I have experienced, and even better I have dreamed of! All these instructors we have talked to have like 10+years of experience in jumping (avg 10 jump a day). I also love that they work as a team: previous instructors help us to put on suits, and teach us about the procedure. Then our instructors to come and double check (2 divers per plain). Very efficient procedure and great team work! The whole journey was full of excitement and fun! You just have to try it because its unique to everyone =) Recommend this place! Love these guys. Last year, one of my closest grad pals booked a skydive here on LivingSocial and shared it via a social network. It caught my eye and I thought "why not?" and proceeded to purchase the same deal. Best time ever! First time I ever jumped and the staff made me feel really comfortable and at ease. They explained everything thoroughly. The most bizarre thing was reading the small liability statement into a camera, that's when I realized what I was about to do. I did the tandem jump with Joe, my instructor. He also took great pictures of me in the plane sweating buckets and the whole ride down. The freefall is not as bad as I thought it would be, rollercoasters are much much worse. Freefall feels like you're going through a giant wind tunnel and you can't be scared because you're too high up. Even the landing was pretty smooth as we both slid across the grass on our butts. Let me preface this by saying that I've been skydiving before so had expectations already going into this. I picked this location as a last resort b/c it was easily accessible for everyone in my party. I called ahead of time and reserved a time slot of 8am for approx 20ppl. Instead of giving you a play by play I'll just tell you the things you need/want to know: 1. They don't really reserve a time slot even if they tell you they do. It's open to Anyone even if they are not in your party. Needless to say that only 9 out of my 16 confirmed guest were able to come because they did not purchase their tickets in a timely manner, (which was about a week) as I would told. 2. They only have 2 planes. Yes 2! On a weekend! And that was only after I caused a stink about only having 1! 3. They only seat 2 jumpers per plane! The worst of it: 4. The photo packages are awful! They use a GoPro and even when you purchase the video and picture combo the video is poor quality and the pictures even worse. Either your head is chopped off and you can only see the instructors hand or the inside of the plane and some very awkward introduction in the beginning. It's absolutely awful! I can't stress it enough. If you want a really good experience please do your research and find a better location. This is certainly not it. You will still have a good time because of the adrenaline of it all, BUT trust me there are far better locations for the same price and if you're paying this much to risk your life, then make it worth it. read more

Walking through the doors the atmosphere is super chill and energizing! The employees were professional. My instructor was super cool and he ensured me that my life was in good hands. He gave me instructions of what to do before I got geared up. The pilot was super chill also! Jumping out of the plane I felt reborn. The view was super gorgeous! My video and photos were spot on! Also I can't believe how fast I got the video and photos (a couple of hours after my jump through email). My advice is, if you are thinking about skydiving this is the place to go. We got no instructions before we got into the plane. The instructors did not take any time to explain what to do, except 2 minutes before we needed to jump out of the plane they were screaming something in my ear. In addition, I paid $150 in order to get photo's and a video of the whole jump. I got some photo's, but the memory card with the video was corrupt. I got $30 in return, and a "sorry" from the girl on the phone. Nothing else to compensate. I'm never going back again. There are a lot of way better places to jump Edit: Thanks Brian for your response. Would have been nice if I would have actually gotten that $30 refund. Needed to request it from you guys again after a few weeks since you didn't process it. And for the record, I wasn't offered a complimentary photo package, I was offered a 'possible discount' on the photo package should I wish to return. That's still nothing. Overall great tandem experience for first timers!!!!!!!! Bought groupon deal for 4 and online reservations was a breeze. We were rescheduled due to weather but the staff was very helpful and accommodating with my date requests. On the day itself, they video you signing the waiver. I never been video'd before but they do make sure you know you are assuming risks (aka death). The staff really makes you feel comfortable and have a very light and enthusiastic mood to calm your nerves. The plane is good for 4 people plus the pilot so FYI it is tight. My tandem guy Nick was great! He chats with you and gives you little info bits where we were in the sky etc and then tells you what you need to do when you need to do it. Once you are airborne, all you gotta do is enjoy the view. You also get to try maneuvering the parachute. You will not regret going to this place for skydiving! I bought my ticket on Groupon but it wasn't beneficial. It makes sense to just go through the site. When I got to the site, I was given millions of papers to sign my life away. They played a video that also showed me how likely I was to die (btw, Google says it's a 8 in 1 million chance, so you're good). Before boarding the plane, my expert calmed my nerves (I wasn't really that nervous but he made me feel very comfortable nonetheless). He gave me instructions on what to do before and while diving. It was altogether an awesome experience. It's only scary when you jump. While you're in the air, everything is calm and soothing. THANK GOD for a smooth landing. read more

My boyfriend, an experienced skydiver, took me to Skydive Long Island. I have been waiting and dreaming of this moment. When we arrived at the airport, we waited at least 45 min for the weather to clear up. During that time our instructors could have introduced themselves. We saw them, but didn't know who they were. When the instructors came in to tell us it was time to get prepared and rattled off the directions, "banana, tap, arms back...legs up" we still didn't know their names and had to ask. At one point, on the Cessna 182, my instructor asked me to sit on his lap. Had I not known his name.....it wouldn't have happened. We were supposed to jump from 10k feet, I checked his altimeter twice; both times registered 5k. We weren't in flight much longer and couldn't have made it to even 7k. Once the chute was pulled, the turns were too sharp for me and I became nauseous. I wish he took his time going down, took wider turns, I wouldn't have felt sick and could have enjoyed the ride down. Ofcourse, it's just another jump for them. But, it is my first experience and I wanted to remember it because SLI made it amazing. I really would have liked to have had a more pleasant jump, though it's not keeping me on the ground. Next time I'm going up with my son. read more

This place is a LIFESAVER. 516 skydive completely screwed me out of my money and jump less than 24 hours before my reservation. It's for my boyfriends birthday, I was devistatedddddd. I called here and Nick got me a jump for tomorrow with less than 24 hours notice. PLUS, I've went here before and everything was awesome. The service, the instructions, the experience. I got pictures and they were great, I will get them again as well. I only chose 516 for this time around bc of their groupon offer, which I never even got to use. Take in as much as you can, you don't jump 10,000 feet from the sky everyday, the views are beautiful. Splendid. My employer and I decided in early August to buy 2 passes. We were stoked. The day arrived and I was so stoked. Brazilian Roberto and American Nick were two of the coolest instructors. They both put my friend and I at ease, informed us of what to expect and how to move from sky to landing. The ride up was breathtaking, the views were magnificent.
