the jump was great. Andrew is a scholar. would highly recommend. i give 3 stars since it was my first time and i wanted the full package, as to the paid for jump, video, and most importantly the certificate. i got 2 out of 3. seen certificates being passed out in full color. when it was time for me to get mine, the printer was down. I was promised a full color one in the mail, my spouse and i damn near had to beg for one and had to satify with a coloring book black/white copy. Not the ones in full color with typed up names. it would of been awesome, nice and cool to get to place this daredevil achievement on my wall next to my plaques, Spartan race medals and sport trophies. However i got a piece of paper my daughter could of made me. And to make it worse is this was a my birthday and it was a gift. Sucks to be me huh. Ps. This place is amazing! Decided to take the leap in honor of my birthday (you get a major discount if you jump on your actual birthday, btw!). My companions and I were treated wonderfully from start to finish. Everybody is really nice and accommodating. They make first timers feel at ease, and explain everything multiple times, so that you'll know what to do. Our scheduled jump time had to be rescheduled, because of a nearby presidential visit and a no fly restriction after a certain hour. Skydive Danielson reached out to us the day before, and worked with us to find an earlier time that worked for us. Even though the cause of the delay was beyond their control, they took it upon themselves to find a way to accommodate everybody. The jump itself was an unforgettable experience. My instructor was excellent, and made me feel very at ease. If you're debating whether or not to spring for the photo and / or video packages, DO IT! Came here as part of a senior week event with my fellow seniors and boy were we in for a ride! My instructor was Curtis, who was a cool guy! So you aren't actually allowed to jump if cloud cover is too low so we actually had to wait 5 hours from our check in time to actually jump from the plane. The staff were pretty accommodating throughout and once the Sky was clear we immediately jumped! The actual experience of tandem jumping was thrilling and quite terrifying. First of all, the instructor pushes you out of the plane. Think about it as jumping from 14,000 ft elevation and as you fall it feels like you're underwater because it's hard to breathe. It's super cool since you get to first free fall and then you get to glide for a while and the instructor helps you do nice spins. Anyways, it's definitely a unique experience and such a fun way to close out my undergraduate experience! Just check the weather before. read more

After only 13 jumps (and 30 years later) using a static line, I decided to go to Skydive Danielson, to start the course again. Nowadays, the AFF program starts with 2 tandem jumps from 14,000. Back in Puerto Rico, where I started to jump, we exited at 9,000' standing on the right main gear (wheel) of a Cessna 182 with maybe 4 skydivers crammed where the seats had been. Only the pilot (obviously) had a seat. I don't even remember the concept of "tandem" jumping back then. When I learned about it, I thought it was a smart way to introduce the general public, safely, with a certified instructor & tandem skydiver attached to your back, basically doing everything to control you in order to stay stable ("ARCH!") falling face-down into oblivion. My tandem partner and instructor was Luis, a very knowledgeable skydiving instructor, SCUBA Master (so am I), pilot (just like me), Latino (yup, like me), but about half my age! I'm 50 years young, btw. There were many jumpers. The system this facility uses is computerized: there are computer screens outside that provide all the information that jumpers need regarding their order and timing as to when to be ready for the next jump. The day was cloudless, a bit chilly, but otherwise beautiful. One problem only (and this affects everyone) the air was choppy. On the ground it was a steady 12kts a bit gusty and even up at 3,000 and lower is was gusty. The wind came from different places at different speed. Anyways, we jumped from 14,000. I enjoyed a 60 second freefall (my longest previous freefall was 10 seconds!). The whole staff was great (Jerry, Callan, Harrison, Andy...). I spend literally the whole day there. I watched a video and took a quiz. They gave me a "special discount" paper coupon that if you redeem it within 48 hours of your jump, the second (and hopefully last) tandem jump is $175. Right after writing this positive review, I will register for my second tandem jump, on my way to a Class A Skydiving license. I admit I was freaking out (internally) all the flight up to 14,000 (at 1,000/minute), do the math. It feels like forever! It is the ultimate experience. Words can't really describe it. Have fun! I cannot give a stronger recommendation than this. I started the Accelerated Freefall Program at Skydive Danielson in August. I picked them because they were open 6 days a week and liked what I saw on their website. I called them to check on a few things and was encouraged by their knowledgeable and complete answers. Immediately upon arrival, I felt welcomed. The staff was warm and friendly. They explained the check-in process to me and the others that were also checking in. They answered all the questions in a clear fashion. We were then directed to fill out information on tablets, watched an informative video on what we were going to do and then met our instructors. The video answered many questions. Once we briefed with our instructors we sat at the picnic tables and chairs to watch the jumpers that arrived earlier in the day. It was so exciting! We could hear the "new" jumpers hooting and hollering as they floated down in their chutes. The smiles on their faces said it all. Many of them brought out their friends and family. When they rejoined their families they were like little kids jumping up and down about how awesome it was and how they cannot wait to do it again. I continued with the program so I could earn my "A" license. I am up to jump 12 now and have been in the plane with many first timer tandem jumpers. The instructors have been a wealth of knowledge and have become my friends. Safety - The instructors check you, check you again and recheck you to insure all your gear is on you correctly. They look at the weather and wind and will only jump if the conditions are safe. The attention to detail is absolute. These professionals place safety first and follow that with helpful information and having a lot of FUN! If you do decide to become a student, think about that first tandem jump and ramp up that feeling. After just a few jumps, you can be jumping out of the plane by yourself! The feeling is incredible! The owners are great people. The folks that do the schedules and welcome you upon arrival are so nice. The instructors are top shelf. The view from 2 1/2 miles above the Connecticut countryside is fabulous. It is noisy at first when you jump, but shortly the parachute will open and is will be very quiet. Just you and the instructor taking it all in. The landing is in a thick grassy field right next to where your family will be watching. I have seen 18 to 92 year olds jump at Skydive Danielson. I did not jump. I was really hoping to but I was out of my mind nervous since I booked the jump a week and a half prior. One of my close friends went skydiving a few years back and that put the idea in my head as something I wanted to experience. I booked the jump and explained that I was really nervous but I was assured that there were people more nervous than me. This really made me think, how would they know haha? I did not know that when I booked the jump I would no longer receive my deposit back if I did cancel or reschedule, I found this out later on. I then decided that I was going to do whatever I could to face my fears and do the scariest thing I could think of doing that I wanted to do.. at some point in my life. I woke up everyday thinking about it with sweaty palms and called with a bunch of questions thinking this would help reassure me it was safe. The staff was nice and encouraging but I'm sure it was really apparent that I was not ready to do this. I did notice some slight discrepancies as far as elevation and time in the air (parachute and freefall) mentioned by the staff but I figured it varies and I wasn't concerned about it. The day of the jump of course I was very scared but I did not expect to start crying out of fear as I was arriving. I was told I would feel more comfortable once I got there but that was not the case. The place is so small and although I was told it could be 4-6 hour spent there that day; it seemed like I would be up in the air within an hour with signing a waiver, 20 min training video, and the plane ride. This made me more nervous because I thought I would have more time to talk to the instructor I would be going up with. I found out I might not even talk to them until I was going up in the plane. All and all I don't think this is a bad place by any means but I think people who are looking to conquer a fear should be really aware of what they are getting themselves into. I understand that it can be a great and 'life changing' experience but it may not be for everyone. I don't think people who call and express extreme fear should be told that they will feel better once they get there or that there are other people who are more nervous. I'm sure it would reduce the number of people who sign up but don't jump on the ground or in the plane. I can tell you from experience that the absolute worst thing you can do is book the appointment and then have anxiety until the day of, not end up jumping because of fear, lose your deposit, and then feel absolutely terrible about yourself for not doing it. This was one of the worst experiences of my life and I was very depressed for several days afterwards. Now I feel less likely to ever try again it in the future because of the terrible experience I had. read more

Danielson is amazing! If you are going to jump this is the place you want to do it. I jumped with a group of my friends and we had a blast! It was absolutely the best experience of my life, so far! Plenty more to cross off my bucket list. The staff members were extremely friendly, informative and just a bunch of great enthusiastic, full of life, approachable individuals. You can tell that the tandem instructors are all professionals and knowledgeable in what they are doing. Really awesome first-jump experience! All instructors were so much fun, you could tell they absolutely LOVE what they do. I Jumped with Jerry. he was seriously the best! Great sense of humor we talked the whole time, laughed, joked and just had a great time. He got some amazing pictures of me, the views and took an awesome video. I went skydiving thinking it would be a one time thing to check off my list, but I'm already planning my next skydive with another group of friends and I will be signing my mom and brother to tag along! What an incredible experience! Skydiving is one of those things that was way out of my comfort zone, but was also one of those bucket list items that I wanted to experience. I finally worked up the nerve to do it and I did my research and was pleased to see so many positive reviews for Skydive Danielson so I booked my jump for October 20th. The website does a good job of explaining what to expect and how to come prepared for your jump. I felt it had all the information I needed so I just showed up the morning of the jump, signed the necessary documents, watched a video, spoke with one of the instructors and then it was time to prepare for the jump (about 30 minutes total time). I jumped with Norm. Great guy. Funny. Able to keep me relaxed considering I was about to jump out of a plane. He provided details of what would happen and what I should expect and then it was time for take off. Up we went to 10,000 feet and then time to jump. Free fall was the most amazing part for me. What an incredible feeling! Since it was October and the leaves were in full color, it made for an amazing parachute ride down. The scenery was beautiful. Definitely one of the best experiences of my life and a big part of that is attributed to the folks at Skydive Danielson. Everyone was so friendly and made you feel at home. I will definitely be back again next year for another jump. Also, I HIGHLY recommend the photo/video package. It's pretty cool being able to look back at the jump. It's also nice because, after taking a second and third look, I noticed things I did not see during the jump because there are so many other things I was focusing on. Great place for skydiving!!! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Took my kids there and they loved every minute of their jumps. The videos and pictures we got were great and worth the price. Over 400 pictures and over 8 minute video showing every part of the jumps. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to do their first jump. Positive vibe. Something you may not always find at every DZ, but you will find in abundance at Skydive Danielson. For me, it's what has set SDD apart from any DZ I have visited. Its not a coincidence that SDD has been rated "Best Small DZ in the Country" by Blue Skies magazine for 3 straight years. Everyone who visits the DZ or calls it home believes that. I have been wanting to skydive my whole life, it has always been on my bucket list. I finally decided that this was the year I would do it. I am 60 and was a bit worried about the landing, but my instructor Doug did a great job. He was professional and knew what he was doing which made me feel comfortable. I love Skydive Danielson. I have been here a few times with different friends and we have all had an absolute blast when we were here. I jumped with some short bald kid who had some rather funny jokes in the plane to ease everyone's first jump jitters. We brought a cooler full of food, and had a nice cookout for our group, and the staff is so cool we made sure to bring burgers for them too! You can tell this drop zone always has safety as their top priority, and they create a great atmosphere for learning. Even if you know nothing about the sport of skydiving they make it a great learning and fun experience. I highly recommend skydiving at Skydive Danielson!! read more
